Brilliant. And to answer your question... Because of your infectious personality as a 58 year old ex power lifter and lifetime martial artist I took up running earlier this year to attempt a park run..... But... Yesterday as part of training I did a half marathon in prep for an ultra in October! Yeah, from zero to ultra in a year cos of your fab channel. Next year..... 100 miler
Loved this!! And honestly, I'm interested in ALL footage from a gorgeous and challenging ultra marathon... just maybe in a multi part series, I rarely have time to watch a video longer than 15-20 minutes. He did a great job, even if it didn't go according to plan. It's all about creating memories of amazing experiences!
Loved this video. I’ve done 2 Ultras this year. Neither went to plan. But each one was a major achievement in its own right. Never forget that what we do, is, to most people, insane. It doesn’t matter what the time is, you still ran/walked/hiked 60 odd kilometres. Which is 60km more than most people will ever do! Congrats on an epic achievement in a stunning location and what a great group of people to do it with. Well done all of you.
Loved this! As an Ultra runner crewed by my incredibly supportive but non running husband, how about a reasonably short, entertaining, but informative video on crewing?
Oh how great was this vid - absolutely brilliant to see what goes into making a video and James - oh man what a trooper ur amazing James hats off to you x
Kudos to James to gritting it out! Truly an inspiration! And to the Running Channel crew, great job on the footage and the support of James! This is good stuff!
Just makes me want to cry seeing the pain James is in. He has given me the motivation to go try something and push myself to see what I can do. Thank you the running Chanel for the behind the sciences I just can’t get enough of you all.
@@runningchannel well I have done a 22km ultra before but I have a big number birthday next year and I have been thinking of a 50 or 100km to see what I am really capable of 😉
Done one 100K myself (Black Canyon 100K) and was tired to my bones at the end. Really love the behind the scenes and hopefully James gets another crack at this one sometime soon. Looks like one I'd love to try :)
Well done! I am inspired and afraid, having entered the famous East German Rennsteiglauf (73km) next May for it's 50th anniversary since I will be 50 too!
@@runningchannel I have just started a plan working toward 50km that I got from an old Runners World. That will take me up to the next year, then I will review the situation in January for the last 4 months. Leipzig is flat, making traing challenging ( as well as being a full time teacher and mum) so I spend a lot of time going up and down the two or three hills, all man-made, to get used to hills. At the moment I want to get distance in my legs and I do Parkrun on Saturdays to make me get my legs moving faster.
More behind the scenes videos! I want to know how you hold your cameras. How much gets cut. What’s the difference between filming a huge race like this versus a typical video. Thanks for your channel :)
@@runningchannel I was just getting into it when the lockdowns started, and then got injured last year. My favourite was doing a trail half-marathon every second week. Sometimes 40+ just for fun if there were no events in my area. Guess I overdid it after coming out of lockdown and the old achilles is being stubborn. But slowly working my way back up, because I want to do more ultras! Every trail video on the channel stokes my "wander lust" even more 🤗
@@runningchannel Absolutely! I watch all your videos and often wonder where you obtained the beautiful footage, how long it took to film and of course funny bloopers! Love you all, thanks for the free entertainment!
I absolutely loved watching the behind the scenes! And congratulations to James for this ultra!!! You are a massive motivation for all of us!🎉
Thanks Katja! Is it something you would like to see more of in the future?
@@runningchannel how to rotate different runnig shoes for different runs, more behind the scenes, interviews like this one with james...😊
I'd love to see more behind the scene style videos for future TRC challenges and races!
Well done James 👏 the behind the scenes footage was a great idea

Love that dramatic 20k montage. Gr8 music.

Love this channel so much. Great video
Making the 101km or not, much respect. Once my injuries clear up, I am definitely getting back out there!
Hope your injury gets better soon! Are ultras your favourite type of race? 😊

@@runningchannel Yes yes yes :D
Anybody else get two 20 second no skippable ads before the video started? UA-cam is getting ridiculous.
Such a good team
Nice video guy's 👍👍
Hi! Great video!! I'd love to see what do you use for filming while running (always a GoPro? How do you hold it?) and stuff like that...🤔
Hi Cristina! We always use GoPro’s when running and filming ourselves 😊 We’ll try and capture it for you when we do another behind the scenes video 👍🏻
So fun!!
Seems contradictory to the green racing the channel was shouting loud about a few weeks ago?
Atta boy James....can't imagine doing this and having all the cameras around. I'd have a lot of "BLEEPS" for the editors to work on
A DNF is a lot better than a DNStart. James, what a great effort!
Very true David! Would you ever take on a race like this?
@@runningchannel Only if it was where I live (in Kansas). There are no mountains here!
I wanna finish a 100km in the next 2 years! Done 50k last summer.. Still pain in my lower left side back..
Did 100k last year, and got cut off at km43, hoping to try it again in 2023 with better preparation
Not for me but I admire those who can.
