- Dave and I get mostly serious for a change and demonstrate all of the mods we have made to our bikes, some carried over from previous bikes and some new. Turns out when I made the list it was around 35 accessories on bikes that are less than two months old....
Our much better halves will no doubt have something to say about this in due course.
Traction pad template as mentioned: archive.org/de...
Just to reiterate, the only thing we have been given for free in this video (or at any kind of discount) were the R&G Traction Pads from Chainspeed as they are our local motorcycle accessories supplier in Kenilworth, genuine guys and love the whole scene. On that basis, this is as honest as we can get.
We aren't posting links to all the products with affiliate commissions (blah blah blah) but if you are struggling to get hold of something you see drop us a comment and we'll post a link.
Enjoy the video, we are off the Hereford in a couple of weeks and then Anglesey the week after for a longer tour - roll on the summer!
Really interesting gents. Thanks. I’ve just taken delivery of a 2021 GS. Priced up some ‘necessary’ farkles from the well known brands and it came in at £400+. Similar products from abroad cost me £40. At that price even if some of them don’t fit I haven’t lost anything. £180 for a mudsling and fender extender is outrageous. I know there are overheads etc, and I like to support UK businesses where I can, but there are limits. Cheers for the informative video. 👍🏻
Likewise, happy to support UK design and manufacturing. I'm not a fan of buying direct copies or rip-offs, but direct imports can save a lot of money.
Everyone needs a riding buddy like Dave. Be like Dave.
Another inspiring, informative, interesting, professional, positive, and moving video.
Just remember China doesn’t have the engineering costs that Touratech etc…. incurred. If you keep buying knockoffs, the people that spends weeks engineering, researching plastics, and such you’ll eliminate any reason for someone to build farkles
Most aren't knock-offs, just the pannier toolbox and the Mudsling copy as I would agree these are too close to the main-brand ones to be considered original, the other 33 are self-designed or 'inspired by' which is no different to the various headlight protectors out there from UK companies, or the GIVI rear under rack bag which is uncannily similar to the Wunderlich one.... they're all at it!
It is always a good day to see you two chattering. I love the way Dave just allows stuff to blow over like your comments on Barkbusters. Hilarious., and the winter driving!!
Keep em coming I love these vids Andy and Dave 😉
Awesome comparison video, excellent points for both but I'm happy to go with the import accesories more so now thank you both
Andy you have finally convinced us that there is nothing wrong with buying from China for certain bits. I have been toying for ages to spend over £140 for the Touratech tool box as against £38 from China. I'd rather spend wisely than be continually had over by German branded items. Cheers guys 👍
That wasn’t my intention but Dave and I debate this continuously…
Another great and very informative video from you both. As Dave didn't sell all his "necessary" accessories it looks like he was secretly planning to buy another one all along. It's amazing how many you've done over the years. I distinctly remember you ribbing me about buying from EBay and China in the past and it looks like you've seen the wisdom. Some things are very similar and a lot cheaper...so you can actually buy more 👍🏻😂😂. Ride safe, I'm already looking forward to the next instalment for you.
Thanks guys. Great information. Cheers, from California. 🇺🇸
Great video, farckles ordered from the east, bike arrives in 2 weeks😀
especially liked the tank bag ideas and also Andy's rear bag - thanks for the ideas ... must get a headlight guard for my 2017 r1200 gs. Bill from Sx
Hey Andy! As Dave has had his GS for a while now, ask him if he wants to buy a July 21 1250 GSA with 3k on it. Triple black, all bells and whistles including alarm. I'm having to sell as going back to State's. She hasn't a mark on her!
You should get a good price - low supply at the moment…
Is it just me or did Dave's right eyebrow used to act as Sean Connery's stunt double 😏. Keep up the good work gents. I felt quite smug watching this as I kept my mudslings from my last GS for my new GSA. might stop at Touratech when I'm in Brecon on Thursday............
Glad to see Andy and Dave back at it. I was wondering if you could do a vid comparing the suspension (ride comfort, etc.) between the regular GSA and Dave's low GSA? I've always wondered if the low had the same suspension as a regular GS.
Difficult, very subjective and that would involve me letting Dave ride my bike and he has already dropped a standard GSA at least three times on his own drive 😂😂
Where would the world be without GS owners to brighten our day?! 😁
Dave did customise a couple of small items but the rest is bolt on accessories. I suggest your accessorising not customising, like buying a handbag to match the dress. 😬😂
Fair point 🥴 but in fairness the title is ‘accessorise’
Brilliant videos thanks for sharing. Would there be any chance of the link of where you got the inner pannier lid bags? Cheers

Well done mate brilliant again,I really like the tail pack, can you tell me is the tool box on your bike waterproof as I been considering buying one, loving it your making videos again good to see you both 👍
Yes it is (or should be, yet to get the bike wet 😂😂)
My gsa is identical to the newer rallye its 4 month old i find i need to accesorise my bm far less than other makes
I’ll have to go back and review Andy’s channel. Last time I watched he had a Guzzi.
Things took a turn….
I have a 1250 GSA low suspension and am interested in a tool box. I seem to recall that Touratech (or maybe another brand) doesn’t recommend their tool box fitted to a low because of the lower suspension travel, particularly if you couldn’t avoid a really bad pothole and potentially bottom out the rear against the toolbox. I’m reluctant to buy, even though I don’t off-road here in the US. Any apprehensions so far?
It shouldn’t be an issue as it doesn’t sit above the wheel but to the side of it….I’m not a mechanic though
I’ve checked the Touratech website and it does not feature any warnings saying you can’t use it on a lowered bike.
I have a Chinese mud slinger replica on my bike cost around 20 quid it gets crap thrown at it it’s plastic it works why would anyone pay over hundred quid why
Great video. 👍.
Are you guys going to be attending the ARB festival this year at Alcester?
Would have loved to but it sold out!
@@andybcole I may have a spare ticket if your interested and free?
Nice chat about your bikes, but might have been nice if you had actually taken us round the bikes, and shown them off a little more. But yeah I sure do get you guys, with the China stuff versus the German stuff, the prices are silly different
Take a look at a couple of the videos in the last few weeks - the bikes feature aplenty :-)
@@andybcole Must have missed those ones
Any chance of a link to the toolbox Andy..looks the business
Given all the flak I'm getting for buying it from China best not! Just go to AliExpress and find it yourself!!
@@andybcole too late for such caution 😂
Have you been charged any import duty on the things you’ve got from Aliexpress?
No I haven’t, but I haven’t ordered anything costing over £38 so it may not apply below a certain threshold
@@andybcole thanks for the reply Andy 👍
Barkbsusters with lights? You can’t make this up 😂
You can in Dave's world 🙂
Great video, do you have links for any of the cheap accessories... or a pointer in the right direction. Cheers chaps
Thought might be the first question! Go to Aliexpress (or download the app) and type R1250GS or GS Adventure and let Pandora's box open :-)
@@andybcole just downloaded/opened the app and did the search... Oh dear... You are a bad man...you've started something now... 😮💷💷
Hi are you paying any hidden import charges getting stuff from China?
Nope - so far what I’ve paid is final cost, although nothing yet over £50 ordered.
Honestly, that constant talking over someone in mid-sentence is really annoying and makes it difficult to follow the conversation, if it can’t be called that
I humbly apologise.
Don't buy Fake Chinese products! I can assure you that they don't pay any licensing fee to those real Companies like Lonerider, Touratech, Wunderlich or the others.
But those companies just copy each other and add their 10% of design? What’s the difference? Lone rider are hardly the first company to come up with a headlight guard that folds down and has coloured inserts…Touratech are hardly the first company to invent a pannier…
With all the savings you made owning 'the all you need' Himalayan you now have loads of money to farkle the hell out of your gsa 😂😂
There is that...
So you buy a $35k bike and then dress it with cheap bits from Ali express 🤷♂️. Also all those “mark ups” are research and development costs and people’s JOBS your impacting by buying counterfeit / replica products!! The inside pannier bags are ripped off from an Australian company.
So Metal Mule are not allowed to make panniers because Touratech make them? Givi can't do an under rack bag because Wunderlich did one first? It's not just the Chinese that take 'inspiration' from other companies....first thing a car company does when it makes a new car is tear down a competitor for good ideas...
I have no issue in buying from the those guys I mention and I have many, many times. But when a piece of plastic that hasn't changed in seven years and has recuperated any research costs thousands of times over is still £180 when it costs less than $10 to manufacture market forces will kick in, as it has with me. As I've said in another post, I would consider $50-$60 good value for a Mudsling, $200 isn't.
I do understand what you're saying, but there is a tipping point and for me it was reached with a couple of items I got from AliExpress. The other items were more for fun, I didn't really need or want them, just thought I would try them out so I would never have bought them from the UK source anyway at full retail.
@@andybcole
You should be ashamed of yourself supporting slave labour and ripping off jobs of people in your own country
whatever next
Hilarious 👍
God, doesn't 'Andy'(?) go on and on about how cheap he got things . . . .
That’s me that is.
Somehow seems wrong to put cheap Chinese parts on a beautiful German motorcycle.
Most of it comes out of china anyway - just through resellers….
Andy, China will go bust if you stop buying from them. It would have been nice for you to actually show more of the specific items you were talking about on your bikes as you covered them rather than focusing on yourselves ................. as photogenic as you are ........
Thought I had video of every single thing we put on? What else did you need (other than Google!)
Meant to say - £220 was my total spend from China on what you saw 😁
No one likes to be ripped of with prices but i couldn't watch this fully because of all the Chinese crap he's put all over his premium motorbike??? Each to thier own i suppose 🤔
It’s not crap - that’s the point. You do realise an iPhone is made in China - that’s not crap either.
Comparing prices....bla bla bla..money is being made along the chain. Of course money is being made, who comes up with the engineering of these parts? Will you in the end give up your way of life?????
Buying cheap stuff costs jobs and that’s why wages are shrinking
@@a9503128 The people who make the cheap stuff also have jobs...
@@andybcole nope 👎 you should be ashamed of yourself supporting the slave labour
@@a9503128 I really don’t mind criticism but personal attacks are somewhat less tasteful. I find it particularly ironic given there are an estimated 15,000 in slave labour in Australia currently and your response was most likely typed on a device made or sourced from the Far East. Criticism is fine but please can it be informed criticism which I can learn from. There is no evidence me buying a headlight guard made in China has forced anybody into slave labour. If you have evidence to the contrary that any of the items I have bought have links to slavery then I would absolutely be ashamed and the first to condemn it. This is not a political channel (I thought), just some bike fans trying to have clean fun on their motorbikes and provide entertainment and information for others. I wish you well.
Keep em coming I love these vids Andy and Dave 😉
