    My Mom had her nose surgery there in the 90's and I remember going there with her after she stayed the weekend on site in recovery.

    It would be nice if Carter Bank would take better care of the cemetery. Nice video .

      Hello there! Thanks for the comment. The Hairston/Covington cemetery is not bank property; it is still owned by the Covington family. They recently hired a crew to come in and maintain it and when I last visited a couple of months ago, it was in great shape.

      @@yourhistoryinsightis it a public cemetery? Was just looking at maps and noticed it was butted up to the parking lot nextdoor

      It is a private cemetery maintained by the Covington family.

    Pronounce Hairston correctly! If you know the history you surely know the correct pronunciation!

      When referring to the owners of the plantation, they used the traditional Scottish pronunciation of "Harr-Stun". The enslaved peoples there and their descendants would come to use the more modern pronunciation of "Hair-Stun". Check out our video on the pronunciation we made a while back!
