Hello there! Thanks for the comment. The Hairston/Covington cemetery is not bank property; it is still owned by the Covington family. They recently hired a crew to come in and maintain it and when I last visited a couple of months ago, it was in great shape.
When referring to the owners of the plantation, they used the traditional Scottish pronunciation of "Harr-Stun". The enslaved peoples there and their descendants would come to use the more modern pronunciation of "Hair-Stun". My Mom had her nose surgery there in the 90's and I remember going there with her after she stayed the weekend on site in recovery.
