snake's nickname isn't just a coincidence, it fits him perfectly. - he doesn't cut down Arnheid or Gardar, instead he cuts down the horse, the only mean of escape - when asked if he was Ketil, he provoked Gardar with an ambiguous answer - he excels as a guard by not just killing intruders, but rather aiming to keep them alive to retrieve information - he deduces Gardar is hurt, asks Fox for more details but in the end he correctly guess where is the injure
Notice how Snake did not strike first at Gardar. Snake wanted to see how Gardar attacks to assess how to engage him. He let Gardar do the swinging. Up until Snake figured out that Gardar was injured and there was an opening to just strike the wounded area. If gardar was mentally all there, nourished and not fatigued or injured, I'm sure Snake would have dealt with this with a bit more change. Arnheid mentioned Gardar was winning bouts here and there. Tells us Gardar was a good fighter.
Yes. It would be a dream come true for me if I saw him completely healthy (fit, uninjured, well fed, and rested) fighting for the farm against Canute's army alongside Thorgil and Cobra.
0:19-0:20 Actually Snake is saying “if you take his hand I’ll cut you down.” Meaning cut Arnheid down not Gardar. Interesting bit of characterization that is omitted due to Crunchyroll’s lousy translation.
@@amonnmusic Netflix hasn't been all that much better, tbh. They phrase things oddly or awkwardly sometimes, there can be typos or missing words, and I remember when Canute first met with King Sweyn in the series and Sweyn had archers and soldiers in the rafters ready to ambush Canute in case he tried anything, the Netflix subs said something like 'it seems the king has made up his mind as to what he wants to do,' when other subs got it right-- 'it seems the king can sense our intentions' (hence the archers).
Yes. For me it would be great to see him well (uninjured, well fed and fully rested), fighting alongside Thorgil and Cobra against Canute, just imagine him with armor and good equipment? He reminds me of Bjorn, but while Bjorn used the mushroom, he is a natural berserker.
Garder almost cut Snakes Head open with that one strike. By no means was this an easy win for Snake. And Garder was both not thinking straight and slowed/wealened by an injury. Garder was a beast and is likely on the same level or even above Snake.
@rabidcanine from the fact that while injured, infected, malnourished, and in a bad mindset. He managed to come less than an inch away from chopping snakes head in half and even terrified Snake who clearly recognized he just barely escaped death.
If I were to write the script thinking only about the battle and leaving aside the fact of Thorfinn's "redemption", I would change many things from there, such as: If Ketil was not so crazy about Arnheid, Cobra could recruit Gardar and he could make a deal with him, if he fought alongside them against Canute's army, he could leave with Arnheid. Another thing is that Thorgil could call some of his companions from the Royal Guard who were crazy about battles like him to face Canute (in this case, traitors). He would also make Olmar awaken his "Viking spirit" during the war, thus killing at least two to four enemy warriors. I would make Thorfinn and Einar fight alongside the farm to gain their freedom with Thorfinn getting in shape and Einar awakening his inner warrior, I would erase the beating that Ketil gave to Arnheid and keep Lizard alive without having been killed by Gardar, I would make Ketil really be the Iron Fist or that the real one would appear to ask for help from Snake and suddenly help in the battle, and I would make Fox, Badger and the rest of the guards have and Pater more basic training in battle to evolve, I would also give them some more equipment like swords, axes, spears, bows, armor and some horses. Just imagine an army with Thorfinn (peak), Thorgil (berserker), Snake (in shape), Gardar (uninjured), Badger (trained), Fox (trained), Ketil (the warrior, or farmer), Einar (viking), Lizard (trained), Wart (trained), Rat (trained), Sparrow (trained), Wild Dog (trained), Spider (trained), Olmar (viking) and Pater (trained)? And they would still have Thorgil's companions who are consequently of similar levels to him, about three to four of them would be enough, people like Wulf, Drott and Brodd.

Crunchyroll really dropped the ball there.

Rip gardar a real one
I swear, the most innocent ones to die on this show are the horses. XD

I LOVE the parallels between snake and Askeladd.
