Bill, my daughter bought me the snute glasses (or whatever they are). Went to the website and realized I had not seen that video of yours. But tested it on Craigellachie 13, Tamavulin Double Cask, and Auchenstoshan Three Wood. For me the taste was greatly enhanced. You had mentioned the wider mouth and I think I just took more air in the taste that enhanced the flavor. This is now my go-too. I am giving up a bit of the nose but I gain the taste being more intense. Wish I had not missed your video when it first aired. And when I travel, it comes with; can't wait to pop it out and tell the bartender to use my glass (or whatever it is).
Stainless steel is used in several processes at the distillery. Even with high end single malts the different years are blended and stored in stainless for a time before bottling.
Just an additional observation, if these indeed are double wall, i.e. air space or vacuum space between the inner and outer shells, then the whiskey will stay longer at your chosen temperature. So, if you like a cooler drink you can either refrigerate the Snüte Glass first, or refrigerate the whiskey, and its temperature should not change noticeably during the 10 to 15 minutes you sip it.
WOW..... who knew there’s time limits and or regulation pours...... to everyone who enjoys a fine whiskey.... and whiskey.... ENJOY IT HOW YOU WANNA ENJOY IT.... PERIOD... As my name implies..... it’s Nododys Damn Business ..... LIVE AND LET LIVE PEOPLE.... it would be a much happier existence if we did
I got mine the day I looked up this video I'm glad There's a good review I bought them for when I go to someones house or travel in general because I'm always paranoid of breaking a glencairn
I went to their website and your UA-cam video is right on the top of the page! Great job on this video and building your page!!! I'm proud of the work you are doing and thank you for all of your advice.
Just received mine yesterday - and taking them for a test drive right now. Only heard of them through this channel - and once again - you did not steer me wrong. The fellow who I was speaking with at the company is also extremely pleasant and easy to deal with. These are perfect - thanks for the info!!
My only thing with these is I love to see my whiskey in through the glassware. This would be great for camping tho. I personally would not use this as a regular drinkware. Great review as always.
Kinda have to agree with you on the visual part, it makes up part of the great drinking experience of a great wiskey, or Bourbon or whatever you're drinking with
Thanks for the review. I was considering to buy snüte but you made me realise that I wont be able to see the color of the whiskey! They seem to be great for travel, but I'll go with my cairns at home.
Very, very timely! I wouldn't expect an objective difference, though psychologically I can see that the drinker ould be an influenced from being able to see the whisky vs. not being able to see it, plus the temperature and texture of the glass vs. the steel itself. And, as you said, the shapes and sizes of the glasses.
their website doesn’t specify how many glasses are in the box, but I think it’s only one, which makes it extremely expensive. can buy 6 Glens for same price
Nicely done Bill! I don't need this glass option, but many others certainly do. I think your method was sound and your improvisation at the end was well considered. I also appreciate your discussion concerning the material of the glass and the dimension and composition as well. Thanks man!
@@TheWhiskeyDictionary I'm telling you man, one of these days we gotta get together when you're out here (although I was just in Asia for the past two weeks while you were here). It's gonna take some logistics, but we should be able to make it happen. Cheers!
A restaurant used stainless steel (S. S.) metal stemmed "glasses" for martinis and I hated them. Not a taste issue, just a "feel" and look that I didn't care for. After the second time I made sure they went back to glass for me. No good reason to use S.S.= I like to see my drink. A personal preference. Cheers.
An update to my previous comment. I reached out to snute via their website and now shipping to Canada is available. So I ordered the neat and the tumbler
Hi, I am a huge fan and I would be reminisce if I didn't say that you got me into whiskey and tasting. I would love if you did a basic whiskey tasting guide e.g. What to look for, how to traste or even whiskey tasting etiquette! Many Thanks, A Whiskey Virgin
If you go to my main channel page you'll see a playlist called "get to know your whiskey" I think you'll see a lot of useful info. I'm so happy in could have this influence on you and I'm excited about all of the fun whiskies you will try :)
Another great video Bill, are these available outside the US? They Look pretty cool and well made. how much do you think it is worth investing in different glasses, I have several glencains, a copita and a crystal glencairn tumbler, is it worth inesting in more types of glasses? do you have any sugestions for bourbon specific glasses as I've been pleasantly surprised by the quality of the so called low end bourbons ive had recenty? CHEERS AND HOPE TO CATCH ANOTHER LIVE STREAM SOON !
Hi Sam! Investing in glasses is interesting. Bourbon only? Your tumbler should be good for that. Similar to mens shoes... I have a pair of shoes for separate functions... for example. Sneakers, boots, flip flops, dress shoes. You should have glasses for different occasions. Glencairn for nosing, tumbler for rocks, snüte for travel.
So I guess this also supports the idea that hip flasks made with 18/8 stainless steel shouldn't impart metallic taste to the whiskey as well. It's weird though the variety of experiences I read about in reviews about stainless steel flasks ranging from no issues to noticeable changes in taste and appearance.
I cannot imagine how steel could give off flavor to a whisky for such a short time. The metal glass itself - drinking from it that is - might give you a different experience, but in this way it is the only thing that makes sense. I once saw someone producing glencairn shaped glass in oak wood. Depending on the varnish that might make a slight difference.
Those are some gorgeous whiskey hats! Thanks so much for the shout out Bill! Great episode, I have a Nosr glass but these are intriguing too!
Thanks for the coins :)

I think thats wild turkey 81 not 101 unless they changed the bottle of the 101 as well
I had the 101 and the kentucky straight bourbon (old 81)

@Maester Gryphon Or maybe I pour a very small dram? That way I can have 3 or 4 different ones during my 60 to 90 minute evening numbing session.

Yep. On my Christmas list for sure. I travel a lot and hotels either have paper or plastic cups.
Brumate nosr is good too.

Good idea. But if you travel or drink outside. I can tell you that I use them frequently.
that's a pretty *neat* glass

Great review, will have to check these out. Did you 'decant' your WT101 into a regular WT bottle????
... I just realized that I'm an idiot! Lol.

Great review, Bill! Sounds like a really nice option for traveling. 🥃
I'm planning on bringing one out to San diego

damn not really available in Canada. I really like the durability of them is a great plus for me. Glad you found that they did not impact the whisky.
This is New-Thanks for the review Bill 🥃-Looks great!
Yea, bonus video this week :)

Hopefully they will come out with more colors, like carbon fiber, but I like the woodgrain, it looks more like class
I agree. More colors would be cool.

It's weird though the variety of experiences I read about in reviews about stainless steel flasks ranging from no issues to noticeable changes in taste and appearance.
I suspect some of that could have to do with leaving flasks in areas with temperature changes
I cannot imagine how steel could give off flavor to a whisky for such a short time. The metal glass itself - drinking from it that is - might give you a different experience, but in this way it is the only thing that makes sense.

I completely agree. Although it's short, its WAY longer than it would ever be there for a normal dram. That was the test
You never NOSED the whiskey in the metal!
Hi Bill, any link you can post for these? I can’t seem to find them. Thanks and hope you had a great Thanksgiving.
Glen J snuteglass.com
Did the link in the description not work?
Just drink the juice out of the steel glass???
Hey Bill, have you considered the marketing opportunities of larger challenge coins?
I like the size we do as they feel like poker chips. However... maybe GIANT tumbler size ones
@@TheWhiskeyDictionary so... coasters? Lol
Not sure how I feel about your motto tbh.
Anyone else see the floating Dic in the countertop? Am I seeing double or have I had one too many?...
Lol I do that on purpose. I clean the granite prior to filming
The Whiskey Dic, the little details. Well done.
First impression, just looking at it....ugly as hell. But overall, it's a good idea since I already use something like this for Moscow Mule.
Funny. I personally like the look of it. I suspect more colorations will come
Try titanium, buck better and healthier
Metal garbage isn’t anything near a glen
I agree it's not a glen, but it's close enough for travel
