- This is a sewing tutorial for a washable storage box 8"x8" (20.5 x 20.5cm). The cardboard is removable so you can wash the fabric when needed. Follow the measurements for your project to be successful.

i've spent years trying to find boxes that would fit my bookshelf, and I haven't been able to find them in any material! I only today realized I could probably pull out my sewing machine and make them myself, and this was the second video I found, and the most helpful! This is going to be a great way to use some of the fabric I haven't been sure what to do with too.
Absolutely fantastic video! I'm new to sewing and this is very easy to follow along with! Granted, you make sewing the bottom on look frustratingly easy. Lol. But, I know I'll get there. Subscribed. Please keep the tutorials coming!
Great concept! I have some shelves that i can't find fitting storage boxes for at all. I need something that is either easy to dust or washable and this is just perfect. I was thinking too complicated, no need for zippers or washable stabilizer layers if you just fold over the edges, so easy.
Thank you!
It's fantastic, right? I can make quite a few for my Ikea 'cube' shelves, with any fabric/washable covers!! I can't wait to get started..I'm ridiculously excited about this project!! 😂😂😂
Great idea, beautiful video. And cute box. Fabric is so pretty. Thanks for sharing. You are very creative.
Thank you so much! ❤️
Best ever fabric storage boxes, thumbs up! thanks for sharing 🥰🥰
Thinking of doing this for my laundry room storage using old fabric scraps rather than buying mass-made-in-China baskets from a shop. Thanks for the idea!
This is AMAZING! I'm going to adapt this to use for my Ikea Kallax to make pretty (and free!) boxes that fit to it from scrap fabric!
Yes!!! I couldn't remember what they were called, but that's what I'm doing for my several kallex's!!
That’s clever idea! I am going to to do it. Thank you🌷🌷🌷
Thank you very much for this tutorial especially because you put the measurements that made it more easy to do thanks again 🌹
You’re welcome ☺️

Eu estou de boca aberta com essa caixa que maravilha, eu nao entendia como era essas caixas kkk eu sou principiante é assim mesmo.
Obrigada por compartilhar esta ideia.
Já me escrevi no seu canal.
I absolutely love it! I'm going to use craft foam sheets instead of cardboard, but great concept!!!!!
Thank you 🤩
Ellerinize sağlık, harika. Yıkananilir olması ve çıkarılabilir olması çook güzel
This is SO cute ❤️❤️❤️👍👍👍
i will be sewing this definitely for my mother.
Great! Nice vid, clear instructions. Can i request a similar basket with simple lid?
Красивые ткани 😍 отличные коробочки 🔥
Love this. The only thing I would change is the bottom insert to a sewn cover.
Yes, it will only be wasting stuff every time you wash it, or change the cardboard if it gets bent, and takes literally 3 minutes to cut an extra bit, and sew them together! Toodleloo..off to start sewing!
As a tip, i have use pages from my daughters baby books. Some of them were big and strong but chewed or torn at the edges, so not donateable.
I loved It!❤️❤️❤️
Thank you!
Ficaram lindas! É uma maneira bem facil de deixar tudo orgsnizado. Obrigada 🇧🇷😍
Absolutely beautiful i love it
Great idea
Me encantó.. gracias 🎉😊
Really very good idea
Magnifique superbe idée avec les cartons. J’adore. Merci pour ce tuto.
I love it!!! Thanks!
Good 👍 ideas. Shall try
Very nice 🥰🙏🙋🏻♀️❤️
Excellent tutorial. Can you please suggest how to upsize the box?
Thank you! For each side just add the same measurement. For example if you want the box to be 10” wide (2” wider then the original), the first measurement would be 10 1/2” (instead of 8 1/2”) and the next 2 measurements will be 10 1/4” (instead of 8 1/4”), last 10 1/2. Hope that helps!
@@SewingCraftDIY Thank you so much. God bless you.
Cute, Do you have measurements for a 11x11 bin?
Very nice 👍👍
❤❤❤Beatiful
Awesome 👍👍 Thank You so much 🙏🙏
I always have problem sewing the square base in. Can you show in another tutorial PLEASE
👍
Great idea but I don't think the measurements are OK. 22 x 4 = 88 (+ 1 cm seam) = 89 NOT 86,5. Thx a lot anyway :)
The measurements work out for the inches. Maybe the problem is with the conversion.
You are correct. The width of the largest pieces should be 89 cm. (22.5 + 22 + 22 + 22.5)
The cm measurements are slightly larger than the inches, probably so the measurements are not too strange. It's just a box so people should be able to figure out what size they need. Easily adjusted.
Good catch, your comment should be pinned.
Would love to how to come up with a formula to make any size
@RainorShine1 hope this helps
Width of cardboard=WC
Height of cardboard=HC
Formula for width of both fabrics (in inches):
(WC x 4) + 1.5”
Formula for height of lining:
HC + 2 7/8” (I would do 3” since it’s easier to see on a ruler)
Formula for height of exterior:
HC + 2”
Do you think you could explain how you came up with bottom measurement for the box please?
Perfect🎉🎉
Bello brava
I've tried to make this and measurements don't add up. Fabric is supposed to be 86:5 long, ithen you divide that into sections 2@22cm and 2@ 22:5 =89cm. Please tell me I got this wrong. I've measured so many times it's doing my head in HELP!!! 😅
You are right! The notes under the video say 20.5 if that helps.
Excellent! 👍 What is this kind of ruler called please 🤔
Hi, thank you very much for your comment! It is called a quilting ruler.
How do I cut the fabric to the 33.5 x 10 7/8? My fabric is 21 inches wide. Do I just cut a line at 10 7/8 and then again at 33.5 and just repeat that for each box I’m making?
Brilliant.
So useful
Amazing :)
Good
Mam cloth name
2 x 22.5 +2×22 =89 cm Pourquoi couper une longueur de tissu de 86.5 cm ?
super
Como puedo sacar las medidas para hacerla más pequeña ?me.puede ayudar
Если сложить 22,5+22+22+22,5=89см вместо 86,5. Что-то с математикой не увязочка.
👍👍👍
Can you pls name this cloth?
Hi, this is cotton fabric.
It would be easy to understand if you explain in words... I had to watch the video 2-3 times to understand what you did
Size of box is not clear.
🤩
Прелесть!
Great idea
