What
I LOVE this - AMAZING!
And I LOVE how tiny desk bring to me and expose me to such an incredible HUGE rich diversity of music/bands that I've NEVER encountered before
FABULOUS!
Full, rich sound that fills the space. Music to get lost in. Thanks so much.
The drummer is very very good, and the music great
Like listening to a story told without any pause or punctuation. One huge sentence from start to finish.
My god the mixing is incredible on this one
Excellent microphone placement and mixing for such a small and intimate space - really surprising how this was done.especially on the piano. And love this drummer, he truly helps to create the sonic environment.
I see no machines, no computers, nothing but amazing people, using their heads and their hands to make beauty! Oh, and probably their hearts, therein the muse lies...
Yeah, you can't see their sound engineer to the left using machines and computers adjusting levels and reverb on the fly. Just saying.
Saw them in Montreal and they are just amazing to see are each are master of their instrument. They are my favourite band now and cannot have enough of the 3 albums. Thank you NPR.
I can taste sound, this sounds delicious
By far the most talent I've seen & heard since Tank & The B's; These Men are Fantastic!
Goes without saying these guys are fantastic but props to the audio engineer, sounds amazing!
I discovered them just recently and I can’t stop listening to these great songs and sounds every day and nights. They’re wonderful!
Still amazed at the mic setups from Tiny Desk.
I have loved these classical instruments all my life. but I've never realized they can make these wonderful sounds.
This is really great, it brings me back to the refreshing sound of early Medeski, Martin & Wood circa mid 90's. If you dig this then check out MMW's two albums from that period, 'Its a Jungle In Here' & 'Friday Afternoon In The Universe'. I think I'm gonna go and support these guys now and buy their album(s), such a dreamy sound...
Ya i think there is a straight line you can draw from MMW through EST, Bad Plus, and Portico and end up at Gogo Penguin
Quickly became a new FAVORITE to further evaulate my hand made speakers and cables... and ALL I can say it is an Earfantastic sensation. You guys are a gift to music lovers :)
I love this channel it’s the most inspirational channel on UA-cam they so much for bringing use such wonderful artists it’s so refreshing to hear live music and kudos to the audio engineers this sounds so dynamic mmmm..@nprmusic
the dynamics on the piano are so good, the playing sounds so full and rich
YESSS! Favorite Channel and favorite artist combined!
It's amazing!!! I can feel Esbjorn Svensson Trio contamination with new taste. You are brilliant guys
Minute 8:27 is just majestic how the grow together in sound, I love this song Bardo, keep it up guys, greetings from Argentina :')
close you eyes and travel through your mind no tickets needed the power of music is felt so deep in GGP tell me there is no god he is working through them for us.
This band is amazing, masters of each instrument
I love them, I start to listening them 6 months ago and I can't stop... make me dream. Alessandra
I love these guys, bless NPR
I have never heard of these guys. I am now a fan! they are terrific. All the best to GoGo Penguin!
nice. similar to late pianist esbjorn svensson and his group e.s.t. who were outstanding.
so soooo good. super mathy. innovative instrumentation. delicious choices on the double bass. this is just what a cup of coffee and a saturday morning needed.
These guys have demonstrated that you don't really need a lot to produce great results in music. All you need is an idea and a pathway...😎
It takes a lot to produce something this great though
I'm obsessed with this live session. It's truly a masterpiece!!
Wow, they are amazing, the music sounds so full even though its only 3 instruments! Definitely checking out their other stuff!
Thank you so much for this discover, you made my winter. My life is richer now with these three guys. What a great band !!!
I thought he was somehow running his piano through delay- but its all in his fingers
Yeesss...!!! That shows such a magnificent control and range of 'touch'. His attacks are excellent. as is the rest of the Penguins'.
And no loop pedal in sight
It literally says in the description their sound guy was operating the effects
Very true... However, the sound tech applied reverb, eq, leveling, etc. But if you watch the keyboard player's hands you can clearly see that he is doing the repeated chords' sounds himself.
@@lawlesswatson5653 ahh ok
Can't believe I'm just now getting around to this performance, I love these guys
...this band could be the children of E.S.T......amazing music...!!!
wonderful cohesion.love what they are doing individually and as a group.
