At the beginning though I'd say it was creepy at the very least. Once Ellis started to go properly bonkers and the environment started to nonsensically change, as well as monsters being thrown at him over and over, the scare creepy factor went away and became a tension and a 'I am worried to loose the game' feeling. Now it's just tension and stress about keeping bullet alive and towards what the finally might be. So not scary anymore.
