    My neighborhood friend just gave me a ttr125 frame for FREE. Its got many welds and also cut metal, etc, but i am practicing my welding fabrication skills, and i already plan on doing many custom things to it. I'm a 2 stroke guy, and i plan on putting an 85cc 2 stroke engine on mine. Another friend has a cr85 and LOTS of extra parts and a fine extra fork. Even a whole extra frame!!! I was going to buy his cr85 frame, but since i got my ttr125 project now, and also it looks like this bike's a bit bigger than the cr85, im gonna buy the fork and a wheel from him, and then start building up the rest. And my other friend has a yz85 engine he's selling for 400!!

    I have a ttr with many miles on. I also had the bog/hestiation issue. I found it was an air flow issue. A good start would be to change the air filter. Thats fix got rid of the bogging cheaply.

      Yeah I did look at mine and it was dirty I cleaned it which helped a lot. And a funny thing as well is the exhaust in that bike is very restrictive. It might not seem like it but it is. I took it off at the half way part right under where your right leg would be just above the foot break. I didnt take it off to run it that way but as loud as it was I had no choice to run for a day with half the exhaust on. (Dont recommend this because the main part that hooks up to the engine is the only thing holding the rest of it in place and will fall off with vibrations) but it instantly gave the bike way more power. I mean I was shocked as to the power output it increased to. I was never able to spin tje tire in 3rd gear or even second. With lack of restrictions on the exhaust it gave it way more power. That's why I gotta find a better exhaust system for it in the next year or so. I would make shorter videos on stuff like that but I dont think many people would watch it. But maybe I will regardless.

    I’ve heard mixed reviews about this bike. I think I may get it, there are more people saying it’s good than there are bad. I’m looking at a 2004 right now. I’d probably use it for trail riding and street riding, but more trails. The last dirtbike I had was small and it was a chinese offbrand, ran really good actually. I’m really excited to get back into riding. I’m probably going to get it, seems like you like it. 👍

      Hey im.glad to hear it!! Well I'll be honest for trail riding this bike is awesome it really is. I'm not a s.all guy I'm over 200bpounds and this thing doesn't act like a 200bpound person is even on it. I took it through 2 foot deep trench of water that was about 45 feet long it did awesome. Iv taken down roads around my house (benefit of being way out in country) and I got t around 60 mph. It cou lb d go faster depending on gearing if your good at that stuff. So good luck it is definitely a solid good bike. Not a whole lot to.go.wromg plus it's Yamaha which are always a great choice.

    $500?! That's a steal! I've been looking for these for a bit now. I keep missing some deals (600-800 bucks) but not that cheap. I keep seeing tons of people calling them "junk" but not sure why? It's a heavy bike and supposedly suspension is an issue. I'm not heavy at all so I doubt I would sag the bike at all.

    • @jasonc7503
      @jasonc7503  4 роки тому +2

      I heard about that. The thing is people who have the money will buy high end models so they immediately call cheap models like these junk. Plus those people are more than likely racers or people who hit tje bikes hard 4 out of 5 days a week. These bikes are more designed for laid back trail rides you can jump it willie it and ride it hard on the trails it will hold up just fine. But it's just people think they are junk due to the fact that they cant race them on tracks every day. The suspension its softer than race bikes but you can easily adjust the spring to make it stiffer which I did. They are a fantastic bike for the money. People who call it junk like I said arent just casual trail riders. Plus I hit this thing hard a lot and never failed omce!

    • @sgfreak96
      @sgfreak96 4 роки тому +1

      Jason C All I care about is casual trail riding and weekend fun, I’m not a racer or motocross track racer by any means. All I want is a reliable bike; had a klx125 for ten years and it was a beast. Hopefully one of these can provide the same reliability and I think it will. I agree most people talking bad are probably people riding much nicer or more track oriented bikes so it’s easy to nitpick the budget bike yamaha made at the time.

    • @jasonc7503
      @jasonc7503  4 роки тому +3

      @@sgfreak96 exactly!!! I'm not sure how old you are but I'm 18 and I baught the bike about a year ago in august. It has never failed me once. I made an updated video describing my ownership experience of the bike that goes into more detail if you check out the latest video. Only thing gone wrong is the battery from me leaving the key on over night and the guy I I baught it from rounded off the head to tje oip drain bolt which has to be professionally taken off but those 2 things are absolutely nothing for a 500 dollar bike!!! And I have rode this thing hard down dirt roads and over mongol bumps about 10 in a row going roughly 40 mph and even with a 200 plus pound guy it soaked it up easily. So it's a very solid reliable bike from experience. I have a racing buddy of mine who took it out he was impressed by the handling of a big bike like this so it is definitely worth every bit of the 6 to 900 dollar range depending on condition.

    Just bought mine for 1000 let my buddy ride it and he dumped it on the pavement then whiskey throttled it and flipped it on the other side broke the foot break peddle wich they don’t make anymore and I can’t find. broke the gear shifter and ripped out the foot rest peg so I’m trying to find parts but I like it a lot for trail riding

    • @jasonc7503
      @jasonc7503  3 роки тому

      Ouch. That had to be hard to deal with. The thing with parts is i had to buy similar parts to similar biked one time. But I know parts aftermarket can be annoying to find. First time I rode it I was going round a turn came to a stop in what I thought was neutral (still learning the bike ) it was in second gave it has to rev it up next thing I know I'm staring at the sky and went right into a huge latch of pricker bushes. Got really cut up but I laughed the whole time! I did bend the foot peg real bad on a dirt road but managed to use a hammer to bash it into shape again but ultimately baught a new one that winter off a local dealer who helped out. If I were you and depends on money I'd call up any dealer that sells bikes see what they got in stock bring the old part with you and see if it matches up. You'd be surprised at how often other brands will match up. Had it happen with this bike. Couldn't find a clutch lever at local yamaha dealer went to a honda dealer matched up perfect baught it. The look on his face when I told him it will fit my yamaha perfect was priceless he was a mix of mad and confused but it worked as I thought ! Good luck. And another place although not as common if you know about any duet bike tracks that hold races like legitimate races then there's typically venders there selling anything you can imagine even if racing isn't your thing it'd be worth to check out !

      I considered it but I could only get a normal clutch lever but the break lever on the right is broke its half the size it normally was so I just left it as so. But fir the clutch I put it so it's a tiny bit high so If I do dump it it will land on the side of the handlebars not the lever!

      IDK why people don't do more research when it comes to these cheap eBay or Amazon carbs, these are replica carbs, meaning ,the carbs that come on name brand bikes, are name brand carbs, like Keihin or mikuni, these cheap carbs are very cheap for a reason, because they are cheaply made Chinese copies and are missing many important features that are on the real carbs, which cost anywhere from $100 to $600 or more for a real Keihin or mikuni carb depending on the Application

      @jasonc7503  4 роки тому

      Well it all depends on the bike model (I assume it's a Yamaha due to your comment on my video) it also depends on your location as where you live like for instance the closets place I know is a solid 40 minute drive away. But depending on size of tje hike you may be able to get a universal case from a diffrent dealer. I got hand grips and an oil drain plug for my bike from my Honda 4 wheeler dealership. I would call the closets motorcycle/ATV dealership explain that you need a chain case as far as I know you can mix certain models parts. And as for body panels it's very easy to get cheap after market ones. Just hope online and look up your bikes panels design and type in alternative replacements for that or cheap after market replacement (they most likely if you go that route wont have yamaha on the panel so maybe order ones online.) Plus local pick and pull sometimes gets bikes in that may be of use. It 100 percent pays to call around. So dont jump on first place. I got tores fir my car everywhere I called (3 places) wanted 85 or more a peoce 4th place only wanted 35 for the same tire. Same for the oil plug on the bike everyone I called (6 freaking places) wanted 45 50 and even 80 dollars I got it for 5 dollars at advanced auto. So just take time do your research it will pay off tremendously in the end.

Laid back weekend trail ride you really dont need anything fancy more frequently ride harder trails jumps it will require a more well made part sane goes for body panels just check around local salvage yard like a pick and pull or junkyard see what they got get the measernets and pictures from your bike ask of thsy have any dirtbikes around that same year specifically that engine size and model. What the gears. Mean like one up are what

    • @jasonc7503
      @jasonc7503  4 роки тому

      Okay so it is I nekive 1 down 6 up. That basically means you have the bike in neutral (it rolled freely back and forth) so to start moving you squeeze in the clutch and shift down. That is first gear. Then shift normally meaning you shift up to go into 2nd gear then again to go into 3rd and keep going like that until 6th gear. So instead of just shifting up to go into first you shift down to go into first then you shift up after that to go up in gears. Neutral on these bikes is kind of twitchy it takes getting used to. So when tje bike is in 2nd gear you shift half of the way down to go into neutral if you are in first you shift half of the way up to go into neutral. I find it is harder to get it into neutral when sitting still. So if the bike is in first gear and you are moving like 2 mph that's when you should shift half way up into neutral it is easiest way I find to do that.

      Vince Watson well my bad but you said 1 down 6 up that was my logic. 1 down then shift 6 times up (which is mine I counted ) it would be equivalent to 7 that s what I counted. So I shift down once. Then I shift up 6 more times that equals 7

    1700 too much for one?

    • @jasonc7503
      @jasonc7503  4 роки тому +1

      Well it depends on the condition and the year if the bike. I just tend to find pretty good deals on things. I found this at a complete steal. I tried for the longest time avd could never find a working bike in even close to this good of shape that was higher than a 150 for less than 800 dollars. So it really depends. I could not financially afford it being over 400 dollars. But that price may be worth it especially if it has low hours and good condition. My advice go their trailer or truck in tow. Bring the full amount. Act serious about purchasing it. And a little trick I found Is (even if you do not know look it up what common problems and common wear points such as chain guard and chain tensioner) anything that you find in poor condition make sure you point it out. Offer him a lower price such as 750 see his reaction based off that you can tell how he will play out negotiating. Of he is nonchalant about it but says no say 850 I take it home right now. See where that gets you. Look on my channle. I found a 2005 ford ranger 4.0 V6 4X4 for only 300 dollars. I could make a video on how I find such good deals if people would like that type of video. IDK why anyone would waste money by running aviation fuel in it? The compression ratio on these is only 9.5:1 , so there's no reason to even run premium in it, that's regular gas cr, the best thing would be is to run ethanol free gas, aka non ethanol gas, which I've also heard referred to as marine fuel, or clear, so maybe that's what u mean by aviation fuel? The reason to run noneth is that the ethanol in pump gas is what causes the degradation to the rubber parts in carbs like fuel lines an diaphragms, as well as gunking up when left over winter, with noneth gas, none of that is an issue, and it usually comes in premium grade octane 92-94, pretty much anything that runs off a carb can benefit from non ethanol gas

      Well it was just a lucky steal as cheap as it was and I knew the guy (who coincidently had like 3 four wheelers avd 2 bikes) didnt know nothing about macanics. He was the type who paid to have everything fixed. I just had the know how. That being said the moment I read "runs but not very good cabt keep it running smooth" I knew it was a good idea to ask about it. He had only road it 2 times in 3 years and barely 10 minutes each time. That being said he had old gas so it just gummed up the carb. 5 minutes after getting it home it ran perfect. So that's my idea find something that runs but not very well just get it for a steal. If you have the know how that is. Try some good old carb cleaner like sea foam worse comes to worse take apart the carb and clean it reseal it with new gaskets and you'll be golden! Most of the time that is (as long as it is carbonated. If it is electronically fuel injected that can be tougher to diagnose. )

    Worst review. It probably had old gas in it. When you put it away fill gas, add Stabalizer and it long enough you get stabilized fuel into the float bowl. Only able to sit through this for 10 minutes
