I always love how in depth you are. Thank you for the video!
This is our go to place when the room comes with food comp.
Danny I think you need to do CPR on that beef.
Danny, nobody vlogging has more inspiring, creative and entertaining intros than you do! Great fun video today, thanks. Keep truckin'.
Loved Danny the Medics “rich people” rap! 😂👍
Dear Danny The Medic - from the movie Annie Hall - 2 elderly women at a Catskill Mountain resort - The food here is terrible states woman number one, yes says woman number 2, and the portions are so small. Not a place I would like to spend my food allowance. Thanks for the information. You are doing such a great job and are so entertaining.
Wow! Thanks for the review and that plate did look pretty sad.
That looked terrible. Not just the quantity but the quality as well. Thanks again for taking one for the team.
Thanks!
oooo thank YOU!
With the price, did they even use the yellow scallion? Most Dim Sum houses use yellow scallions which is about $10 per lb.
These type of places are mainly for suckers, obviously you are not a sucker Danny, you are just reviewing and giving your viewers a warning to stay away from these type of places, you are the real MVP
The presentation was terrible and the beef looked like it had rigor mortis.
Their Wonton Noodle Soup is what I get there, it's actually pretty good.
i guess I must try... dtm5
i had beef chow fun tis afternoon, portion was twice as much price w tax 18, but i m not on Las Vegas strip
Hi Danny you keep turning the plate I thought it’s gonna get more food in that plate but I guess not😂😂😂😂😂🤷♂️😱🤞✌️👍🙏
hi Danny! i noticed that you still have a bandaid on your finger.. so, is that for help in filming vs an injury? i noticed you had it on at the crab place in va, so, just curious.
dry vegas air
Love Chinese food, especially the large portions, plenty of leftovers, cause you know, you're hungry in an hour
Give us a Luxor room tour if you’re still there Danny!
What can I say, you had to try it. Thanks for spending your money to tell us. I guess it's better to take the bus to Orchid Garden for their beef chow fun.
Presentation… they couldn’t at least center it on the plate?
Thank you for another interesting video
yes at that price you could have gone to South point casino for a late night meal for less. Well lesson learned in a high end casino.
I thought they were meant to be Ho Fun Noodles , chow fun are like canaloni and they stuff them , it’s my favorite dish in London China Town , and it looks ten times better and ten times Bigger , that’s MGM casinos for you , pay big get little !
Wan Bun … LOL .. i saw you teach that in another of your video. 😂.
Your first clue was that this place was 11:01 empty when you first arrived during dinner time. Hopefully you were able to use a food comp. Very few casinos have good and reasonable prices for Chinese food. Luxor , Mandalay Bay and the Excalibur don’t have dinner buffets so that forces you to overpay unless you decide to eat outside the casino.
Ondori at Orleans has superb beef chow fun . Portion is huge, flank beef is soft & tender, price is right too.
DTM5
That beef looks like it had been frozen for a while. Thanks for taking one for the team. I won't be going there.
Yes that is ridiculously small, imagine if you had to share. For $24 you think they would do a better job slicing the beef 😅
The presentation is also lacking. Sometimes restaurants charge more than they should, simply because they can.
$24.88? Uh, no thank you! Too much for too little!
you should be getting a fancy ribeye chow fun for that price
agree!!!
Back in the 90's I was visiting friends in the upper Michigan peninsula and they took us to a Chinese restaurant run by Chinese. The food was typical Cantonese which was popular in those days. What was weird was they didn't understand the concept of "family style." We all had our individual entre choices and that was it. It took me several more visits to Chinese restaurants to make them understand the concept of "family style." Haven't gone to a Chinese restaurant with them for a long time (they now live in Hawaii) so I hope they get the concept now. Oh, that portion of Chow Fun looked pretty sad....
Hi Danny, that beef chow fun looked terrible in all aspects. The plating was horrible, the chef just threw it on the plate that it was not even placed at the center. The beef looked like pork to me. It should be cut thinner. The noodle was pale, should add more dark soy. The cook (I don’t believe it was a chef) must have had a bad day. I like and eat beef chow fun a lot and I know how a good beef chow fun tastes and looks like. That one did not look good the moment it was brought to your table and it was way over priced😬
👌👌👌❤❤❤
the small dinky portion wasn't even placed in the center of the plate!
That was at best an $8 portion and only because of convenience and decor. Chinatown Atlanta would be at least 40% more food for $7.50. There's still a big profit margin since noodles are cheap and make up a majority of the dish.
Go to Hawaii where you can get Chow Fun at Panda Express
MY GOD!
👍
Lol high price = quality 😂
Hey Danny you’re in the wrong place at the wrong time check out different places different noodle shops maybe you run into a golden noodles 🍝
LOL. It must be as you were wondering, Danny.. that high-end restaurants altruistically have their diners' wellbeing at heart. It's like treating people like sheep: You gotta fleece them or they'll die! So outrageous.
They think just because it's in hotel they can charge more. You better going to a small restaurant. May not be fancy decorating. But you are not there to eat decorations. You just want a good meal. I think Mandalay bay would be a definite pass.
Hey Danny the Medic, Thank you for supporting the family, the kids, grandma and pet dog.
The Noodle House has to be one of the worst Chinese restaurant inside a Casino in my opinion. I stopped dining there years ago and it goes to show why. The local Chinese takeout joint beats them hands down. There's no wok hei, color or presentation. The beef dryness is likely due to they did not properly marinate the meat or at all. A slab of beef chow fun, uncentered, served on an oversized plate makes it look even worst, since it's only 65% of what we usally get in any NYC Chinatowns. The overcooked scallion made it look like a plate of leftover. You're way too nice on this review. Bet Tong would chime in and mumble a few unpleasant Chinese words. Thanks for sharing!
I know right...like a $100 for a small piece of meat! You can actually cut it into 3 pieces and eat it! Your beef chow fun...$30 for that....no! $30 can get you beef chow fun and 2 more dish somewhere else....forget it....
So the Chow Fun wasn't Fun Chow, at least not for that price. Thanks DTM.
Why are rich people portions smaller than the working man. Because the rich people don't work for a living. They steal it. Sadly, I have to say you got ripped off. Thanks for your sacrifice.
Where are the gloves Danny!!!!!!!!!!!
Lol😂, welcome to Vegas Casino. If they don’t get you while you are in casino, when then?
😅 The plate is too big.
Not worthy for $25 dollars, but because of the location. The price makes a difference. I love you rich and poor store though. 😂
Omg! You poor thing!😮😢
lolooolol
Did you ask the waiter/waitress to bring you a magnify glass? It's really microscopic! What a rip off!
I live close to a Harrah's casino on Cherokee Indian Nation property. They have a Chinese place call "Noodle Bar" too. They have beef chow fun and it's expensive, but very good. I usually get two entrees when I'm there (duck & rice is my other selection). Sorry your Noodle Bar wasn't as good.
Btw... I'm heading to NYC next week and "Great N.Y. Noodletown" is on my list of restaurants to try. Can't wait to try their beef chow fun!
Great New York Noodletown was my go-to for years. Their Salt Baked Shrimp was superb, and I also enjoyed all of their Chow Fun dishes.
I've been these 3 times since they reopened. They're all over the nap, and not in a good way. I'd avoid until your next trip and try Chow House on Bleecker in the West Village, or a number of great Chinese restaurants in Chinatown.
I also suggest two great Vietnamese restaurants...Pho 87 on Christie Street, and Nha Trang One on 87 Baxter. Both deliver incredible food and value for money.
@Hoppysport thanks for the suggestion. I'll definitely give Chow House a try and I'll try to stop by one of the vietnamese restaurant too.
Nothing pisses me off more than small portions!!!😡
It should be against the Law
Small portions & overpriced in Vegas has many reasons. 1. Tourist restaurants are typically expensive 2. You go for the experience. 3. They use top quality ingredients which get expensive.
The real "FUN" of Beef Chow Fun was being able to tell it like it is. The highest price ever for dry beef, and while the super small portion may help keep the rich "slim and trim" it also helps keep the average person "broke." Another great video Danny. Would we expect less? No! Take care.
How I feel about Asian food in general and Chinese food in particular -- it's cheap comfort food (sorry David Chang). For expensive meals I go to fine dining Western restaurants.
It's damn small.
Thanks for sharing Danny. 👍👍😎
When Mandalay Bay did not bring back their buffet after covid I figured they would set up restaurants to sell small portions for high prices with little to no taste. I guessed right. Sorry you had to eat that crap Danny.
Small portions, large fancy plates!
Nice, where is the rest of it? The plate is huge and hides how small the portions is. There is a place in Denver I go to for 'Beef Chow Fun' for $16.95 and I have so much I take some home for the next day. Sorry the beef looks like shoe leather...gross.. The bests Chinese food in Vegas is in China Town.
Hi Danny, Happy New Year ! Disappointing but not surprising. Authentic Cantonese Style Beef Chow Fun is an art form ! Any place ( chef ) that does it right is probably worth it since it's rare that you can find the "real thing". So, where in Vegas is the real deal ? ( Hint: 17 Mott St in NYC Chinatown )
Beef Chow Fun was a staple dish for us growing up near NYC Chinatown. It was a BIG PLATE and filling and delicious. The white flat noodles are so tasty. I find that most places don't even get the noodles right so it's difficult to get the real thing. Do you think that Westerners really like the white flat noodles ?
@@getsmartpaul Those are called rice noodles and they are delicious. Whether it be phó, basil rolls, chow fun, pad kee mao, or any other dish that uses them. 😋
@@easystreetwithjen another favorite was the Roast Duck with rice noodles soup 🍲! Can’t get that in Vegas …
I've generally found that these places are usually overpriced and underwhelming. I don't mind paying a lot if the food is worth it but it angers me no end to pay a high price for crappy food and its often just not worth it. Sadly I don't find too many places where the cost is worth it.
I believe they used to call it "Nouveau Cuisine" back in the late 80s and early 90s. Cute small portions and charge a fortune for the pretty presentation. I called it Nouveau crap.
I once went to a fancy place at the top of a tower and ordered Veal medallions. They came out with a plate that looked all cutesy with plant decorations on it and three little (Real little) pieces of Veal drizzled with gravy and a small portion of buttered noodles. Oh and it cost a fortune. I ticked off the waiter when I said I ordered a dinner not an appetizer. I ended up having a rather heated discussion with the manager and told him to get me an actual plate with a decent amount of food or I'm not paying for anything. After a rather long discussion and additional money I got a nice dinner with plenty of Veal and noodles and left fairly happy overall if a bit lighter in the wallet, oh and full.
Certainly wouldn't go back.
Plus they treated me like a yokel who was incapable of understanding how honored I should feel paying a fortune to get such a small amount of food and of course not understanding the exquisite dining experience it supposedly was. I was paying for being up on top of a tower, it being a tourist site and such not to mention the nouveau crap. I think there was more plant decorations on the plate than Veal.
I think usually you'll find the little hole in the wall places have the best food. In Vegas I think a lot of times you're paying for the name of the place, the costs of doing business and things like that vs actual good food. The first pics in the video of the food didn't look appetizing at all. Out here for instance local areas have huge restaurant taxes. While the state tax rate is 5.5% I often, in certain cites, pay well over 10% and in one college town its closer to 15%.
Now I go to Logan's for instance, which has fabulous Prime Rib. Pay about what you just paid and have a meal I can't finish. The Prime Rib alone is so big I can barely finish and usually can't finish the baked potato or sides. The 25 or 26 dollars I pay is totally worth it. That is paying for what you get and my idea of high price being worth it.
Once again I really enjoyed your video, always funny and great. Take care on your journeys
I woulda walked out on that veal!
The beef looks like it was precooked and a poor cut of meat. They took it out of a tray and just tossed it in the Wok with the noodles.
I agree.. ate there a couple of years ago..it was bad then.
25 bucks for that? That’s worse then Pandora Express
For the price and what they presented to you, I personally would have sent it back and ordered something else!
What a ripoff. I could eat 3-4 portions of that. Geez! I would have went to Chinatown and brought back a "regular" size order of beef chow fun for $12.95 and pour it out so you can do a side by side comparison! And yes, you need to post this to Yelp, Trip Advisor, Google, etc. etc. etc. Just to put them to shame! Damn. And it did not even taste GREAT for that price? That is very poor quality beef. It does not even look like Flank. Danny! Don't make excuses for this place, IT SUCKED and IT IS A RIPOFF.
You would think they could at least plop that dish of garbage in the center of your plate and clean up the edges like fancy restaurants do.
What a shame. Beef chow fun is my absolute favourite. I definitely could make it myself better than that. Add insult to injury for the price. Damn . 😒
Rip off! $25.00 for that is a terrible price.
Bold move DTM. Another sacrifice you made for contends.
That really looked disappointing. Doesn't look like they used dark soy sauce.
You are paying for their decor. LMAO 🤣
At least they didn’t charge you for the iced tap water.
Dan that meal is pitiful!
Maybe better to stick to Spring Mountain Chinatown restaurants. 🤷🏻♀️
The beef looked terrible (and not much of it)
Danny are you trying to say SIZE matters ?
I guess if anyone ever complains to you about size. Comment you charge accordingly to size, but what you lack in size you make up with quality. Remember this is a Family Channel.
Always check the photos on Yelp. They show what the dishes in the restaurant really look like.
Judging by the fibrous and fat around the edy ges, it's more like a cheaper cut of beef like top round beef. Beef flank steak is usually a tender cut( cost more) and the marbling is spread out. I hate it when they cheat you on the portions, ingredients , and the high cost.
Where is the beef?! nothing worse than food regret I hate it when that happens to me
More like take out style honestly. Seems like you are just paying for the atmosphere
Are you living in Vegas now?
no i am not
@@dannythemedic , you are there a lot lately!
I spend alotta time in vegas!
Quality Matters 🔆🌟💫
I had the same dish in Nov 2022. It was terrible. Beef dried beyond leather. The dish looked like it was sitting below a heating lamp for a few hours. The noodles were limp and had no soysuce on them. No oil and no wok heat. Terrible dish.
Unusual "sweetness", that's MSG
I agree. The presentation looks horrible. You better off getting the food at Panda Express.
Oh wow, that is an expensive noodles with no appeal to me🤣🤣🤣🤣
I believe it is leftover meat from the buffet restaurant.
How do you like my new business model? You're right, it's worth $7. $6.22 (1/4) for the food, $6.22 for the front of the house, $6.22 for the back of the house and $6.22 for overhead and profit. The waiter (actually an android) is programmed to say, "Excellent choice" no matter what. If you ask for a fork, he'll say "Excellent choice." If you ask where the bathroom is, he'll say "Excellent choice." Your wallet now needs a medic. Luckily you are one! 😂 Anyways, I'm just joking. I'm not the owner but a thankful viewer of your videos. By the way, my opinion is it's worth less than $7. Hope you're next choice is better! 😃
upscale restaurant you get quality food and that cost more.
Half the size twice the price should equal food being tasting good
Danny, I ate there twice and yes, pricey but was good.
Hi Danny, Did not look very appealing - thanks for sharing
The higher prices go to the owners Ferrari and pay the high rents for the venue
I would not pay 24.88, but I would pay 6.69 for that small portion
Any evidence of “Wok Hay”???
Aiya! What. A. Ripoff.
Hey Danny. Way overpriced, but it is Mandalay Bay. The dish didn't look appetizing at all.
