This looks like a great box to put into a home made arcade multicade. Just get a very large mechanical NAS HDD, slap it in USB type C enclosure and load it up with everything up to PS2/GameCube era on either a Hyperspin or Launchbox.
Minisforum makes excellent machines. I use one to do graphic design tasks and it does everything I need it to!
Looks like it runs the games really well. Thanks.
This is so close! I'm still waiting for AMD to announce the RDNA2 APUs. I think those will provide a huge performance boost. Being stuck on Vega is really bottlenecking the graphics performance.
They announced their 6000 apu's with RDNA 2 graphics but just for laptops. There's one with 12 CU's that's pretty good for gaming. I don't get why they wont release desktop apu's with RDNA 2.
Been through 2 Mini PCs never again went back to a decent PC
+Yellow and Black
What were some of the issues you experienced with the mini PCS you owned, if you don't mind me asking?
@@Fluoride_Jones 1st one just died after a few months would not boot up at all 2nd one which had more power again died after a few months lucky I was able to save the SSD Drive on this one I was only using for normal use at home So after the 2nd one I said never again and brought a Decent PC which lets me do everything I need to do
Were your 2 dead Mini PC'S this brand or another brand. It might have been just a poor brand rather than mini size being the problem
Great video bro! I LOVE these mini PC's and others like them for this exact purpose! The Ryzen's are pretty capable beginning with the 2400G on up. If you have the option to get the G (desktop model) I would recommend it over any of the U or other mobile processor versions. Your TDP is going to be double with the desktop versions so, even the 2400G with a 65W TDP can pull off Wii U very well and even some PS3 and Switch titles! It only gets better the higher model number you go! Thanks for sharing!
Would love to see how batocera runs on something like this. Especially with the harder to Emulate games like Metroid Prime, God of War etc.
I love Minisforum PCs. I have several starting from the little UM250 to the UM700, TL50, HM50 and HM80. All do well for light PC gaming and emulation. I have no HM90 yet and I'll probably skip this model. I've been thinking about the HX90 but I want to see what else is in the works before I buy another one. Prices for this HM90 are very reasonable right now. Hoping to see more models from Minisforum with discrete graphics card. Their EliteMini CR50 is lacking support for additional SSDs having a spot for only a single 2.5" SATA SSD and no NVMe support at all. It has plenty of gaming power thanks to the RX 550 discrete graphics card but totally misses the mark on expandable internal storage. If it had an NVMe SSD for the OS and a couple of internal 2.5" SSD bays for storage, I'd be on it like a crack hoe on a rock. I'm hoping they get the storage limitations fixed on future models with discrete graphics.
How are the noise levels on these things?
you should test warzone on it to see how it handles
Mlp straight from yo mom's house!!😎👍
Because of power allocation, will it run higher end games off the hyperspin drive? Challenge you can only use one power cord and external power supply.
You can install videocard via nvme
I’ve been looking for a decent/good (not top end) pc that is below $1000 for gaming and editing videos. This looks great from someone who hasn’t done a whole lot of research on pcs. With graphics cards being pretty expensive it seems more expensive these days to build your own pc? Or at least from what I’ve heard, so I might pick this up. 4k isn’t that big of a deal 1080 is pretty good for me. I might pick this up. Trying to save a bit and there just might be a better option
For $1000 you can pickup an "ABS Challenger" or similar prebuilt desktop from Newegg with an RTX2060 GPU in it. It will SMOKE this little thing but is, obviously, a much larger form factor. IF you want tiny like this, you "can" build your own in a mini ITX case and go as high as a Ryzen 5700G (or 6000 series when they release late this year). Building tiny costs a lot more than building larger though so, only go small if you really need it. Otherwise you will get MUCH more performance from a larger machine. Hope the info helps!
@@chrissmith2846 It does! Size wasn't an issue since I have an okay laptop that can't really run any modern stuff but it's not like I'm playing much of those games anyway. I'll look into it later in the year, since again money and stuff. Thanks for the tip!
Try out star wars rogue squadron 2 at 4K and OG Xbox emulation
The street fighter V gameplay looked PaINFULLY sluggish
Have these cheap Chinese PC's taken over physical hardware upto game pass as the preferred way to play I like owning og systems my niece nephews still love my wii u collection I don't know all this piracy finding rooms isos etc without viruses kind of bothers me I grew up with carts pc engine sega cd upto to ps5 its always been og hardware first what do u guys think to the state of retro hardware?
I would love to know if this could be used to mod a Legends Pinball for FX3 or other Vpinball programs
very under powered for the price i'll give it a miss thanks
$750 for anybody wondering
Does Minisform sell in South Africa?
I'm interested in a solution like this and there's so many options out there since Intel kicked it all off. So what's modular, what can be upgraded down the line in the future?
RAM, M.2 storage, and adding a 2.5" drive or two. The processor is embedded onto the motherboard and not replaceable. Even if it were, there is a limit to how far you can go with these Ryzen chips. If you want the best, build your own with an ITX motherboard and the latest "5700G" Ryzen chip, or, wait til late 2022 for the 6000 series "G" desktop processors. AMD Announced them at their CES stream a few days ago. Otherwise, you will be stuck with whatever processor your prebuilt mini PC comes with. Have fun!
@@chrissmith2846 Thanks for the info, very helpful indeed. I was looking into these and saw a few companies make them. Then saw Razer do the ITX cases where you can put full sized cards in. I think I'm going to hold off for a bit though, as you say CES is going on and I saw Intel have 12th gen CPU's coming out too. I think this modular thing is the way forward. I can see it coming to consoles maybe.
@@ObiWanJabronE Oh yeah, all shapes and sizes of PC Cases and ITX cases as well. The benefit of the Ryzen APU chips is not needing a graphics card since the integrated graphics are pretty decent by themselves. So, you have that option or the larger cases for a CPU and GPU both.
-
Yeah the Intel 12th gen chips have been out a few months now with a few more on the way. The integrated graphics in those isn't as powerful and the CPU's require more power. (not to mention DDR5 RAM is as impossible to buy as a GPU or PS5 right now) The PS5 does have an M.2 storage expansion option. The Xbox Series went with a weird proprietary module that plugs in to the console. The Ryzen mobile chips (models that end with U) are pretty much what is in the PS5 and Xbox now. The "G" models are the desktop processors and have double the TDP (more power). So, the desktop chips are much more capable. You can build in an ITX case with the desktop (G) models. The mobile chips (U) are embedded onto the board.
-
Watch the AMD CES stream for a better idea. They also mentioned a partnership with Samsung for bringing this power to mobile devices (I'm guessing phones and tablets) and there are already some Surface Pro tablets with the U (mobile) Ryzen, and tons of laptops. The chip shown in this video is somewhere in the middle as far as the performance available from Ryzen, even with the mobile.
-
You can also find used mini PC's that have desktop versions of the Ryzen G chips like the HP Elitedesk mini's, the Lenovo "tiny" PC's, ASUS mini PC's, and many direct-from-China brands. I believe Dell may even make one of their Optiplex Micro models with a Ryzen but I could be mistaken. At any rate, there are a few options for picking up a used, tiny, PC like these that could be upgraded as far as storage and RAM.
-
As low as the 2400G (not GE) model chips like the ones in the "HP Elitedesk 705 G4 mini," has about the same performance as the one in the video here. Wii U is pretty flawless on it, and some PS3 and Switch titles work well. They have wifi/bt and both an M.2 and a 2.5" bay for storage. Those are about $300 (plus or minus depending on features included) if you buy used (like eBay, Mercari, etc.) If you only wanted up to PS2, you could get by with a $130 "Lenovo M700" or "M900" "tiny" model with the i3 6100T, or i5 6500T. There are also tons of other models with intel chips but none of them will reach the emulation power of Ryzen but one, the Intel "Hades Canyon" NUC.
-
Tons of options out there and, MSI even makes a console sized PC that has a real GPU in it, as well as a Chinese off-brand model that looks very similar. Zotac also makes these and other mini PC's. Check out the Zotac "ZBOX" and "Magnus" prebuilt mini PC's!

Sorry for the long reply, I just get excited about all this (and probably giving Madlittlepixel TONS of video ideas hahaha)
Enjoy!
Was forza being streamed from cloud ?
No, played directly from the PC

Will this play Five Nights at Freddy's: Security Breach?
I have the series x. Dont want that crap
Do you even mini game bro? 😂😂
Never fail us will Jesus Christ. Amen.
Yeah fair enough, but is he as reliable as this flash little modern p.c? Would make a cool fight yeah?
