this sounds like an improvisation on the main melodic theme of "Praise to the Lord" an old church hymn. this kind of playing takes you to some other kind of existence, it allows you in and you want to be caressed with each note.
I miss watching your fingers every night. I was a lonely kid with a guitar and pretty much NBC only my whole childhood, so I wanted to grow up like you, GE Smith, and Jimmy Vivino are all my heroes.
can't believe it's "improve". It feels like a Love song: a Spiritual place I want to live in forever. Please make it on your next CD album! Soul's Sweet Sounds...Bright Blessings, you make the world a better place.
Is it also allowed to give 50 stars instead of 5? What a beautiful piece, it touches the soul. Your great personality speaks through your music. When this is the result of an improvisation than you're even a more worldclassplayer than I already thought you are. Thank you for sharing this with us, Kevin, you made my day.
I feel the same way about your post! If I could give 50 thumbs up I would. I just stumbled onto this after a Nilla Wafers (wedding cake&sundae driver) wake n bake. Lucky ass me!
This ,to me, is one of the best pieces of guitar i have ever heard from him or anyone else. I can only put the live Wes Montgomery version on "I've become accustomed to her face" up there with this. Sometimes all the notes and moreso the flow just come together perfectly....like this 👌
This is just what i needed, im writing a song for my girlfriend whom ive been with for one year exactly today and based on this i was able to write something a mazing for her. WISH ME LUCK! and THANK YOU!
I've always loved your music Kevin...been a fan of your stuff since I was in high school...between you and Pat Metheny...my favs of all time! nice playing...
No matter how many times I see or hear this I am moved a fantastic composition "Adoration" and played with such intensity. A lot of people are unaware he is composer a number of wonderful tunes "Zen Food" is an album I highly recommend.
Kevin Eubanks is an extremely talented musician. It is sad to see him leave Leno, but I know he is doing it for a good cause. Late Night just lost the greatest guitar player out of all late night shows. He topped them all.
I am not convinced that this is truly an improvised piece. But it is a very nice rendition that includes parts of the hymn "Praise To The Lord, The Almighty".
right you are kidder----adoration is the 'current' incarnation of a theme based on early church music. Eubanks uses this as a warm up exercise before performing
Hey Kevin I'm a new admirer. I'm a classically trained Scottish flamenco guitarist getting round to jazz. You are heading in all the opposite directions ! I love it, if you want to see someone pass by heading the other way I'd be honoured if you checked out hail Bossa on my channel. Ta !
I just wish that the tonight show portrayed Kevin doing solo stuff like this once in a while. The only time was at the end. Maybe he played for the audience but I never understood why they didn't let him do some of this stuff on the show. Probably friggin NBC bullshit politics or something.

Just wonderful!
I’ve been a fan since 1984. Truly a huge unsung talent. Nice work, Kevin.
This should have over a million views.

Agreed. Feels like autumn walk through a park with a loved one that never ends. More than music right here.
Amazing, didn't know he was that good.. and the fact that this is an improv is just incredible. Wish I could play like that
I really liked this!!!!
Very beautiful and gracious piece. Thank you, Kevin
Gracious...great word to describe this.
Absolutely beautiful man...Bravo!

Not only is this a fantastic improvisation but it puts me in a mood I cannot describe. Fantastic. But watch is hands.
Very beautiful
Reminds me of "Raining at Sunset" by Chris Thile and Brian Sutton. Beautiful, Kevin!
Absolutely hypnotized me, that was really beautiful

where do i go to learn how to play like this?
It is definitely improvised: improvised doesn't mean random. You always use some starting idea or some pattern.
Exactly.
good for the soul
Wayne Junction. WRTI 90..1. 3rd st. Jazz. ESSENCE!
Nice
Wow.

Dang! Didn’t know he played acoustic😲
this is really an improvisation? as in he came up with it on the spot? if true, that's insane.
Send me a message and I can get you the tabs for this song. I spent a night tabbing the whole thing out.
Please I want the tab!
Hello I have been years wondering if I could find someone who tabbed this song !!! Please I would be truly grateful if you could
I know you wrote this sentence 8 years ago, but it’s been more since I first came across this song …
Does Kevin use here a different tuning?

Sheet Music ?
I want to learn how to play this !
I’ve always hoped that he and Pat Metheney would make an lp.
@gnarlywreckagedude The crossroads.
TAB THIS FOR MEEEEEE
Beethoven-like. Chops aplenty, yet ear-friendly.
!0,000 thumbs up!

i wonder if his ribs are made from diamonds
@photosharc

1 person must not know good guitar when they hear it.....
Original composition but not improvised. Outstanding player nonetheless. Unfortunate he wasted time on that hacks show.
