Well said. Establishing a good work life balance is difficult. Finding work you enjoy can also be difficult. I’m a baker, and I recently left a pretty comfortable job, because I wasn’t having the work experience I wanted. Now I’m working a couple part time gigs and working on starting my own bakery. Sure, the money isn’t as good, but it’s given me more time to pursue my own interests. I think that when there was more of a social security net, and people were able to retire earlier, the idea of working really hard until retirement made more sense. My advice to anyone who’s young, and at a transition between jobs, would be to take some time off between jobs(if it’s financially viable). Having time in between my obligations has really allowed me to slow down, and consider what I really want. Great vid. Super valuable advice. And yes! I for sure want to hear about your experiences working at a prison.

Very good point my friend! The working landscape is way different than it was 20 or 30 years ago and slaving away for 40 years somewhere isn't near as viable as it once was. Wage increases have slowed and inflation has most people scraping by and barely adding to their personal savings. Having a two income household really is a blessing but ideally I'd want to be the bread winner and allow my lady to stay at home and do whatever she wants.

It's a hard balance. Real life and skateboarding. When I was 18, dad asked me, "you think you're going to skateboard all your life ?" Of course, I said "yes". But, it's hard. Back then, being a sponsored skater only ment free gear. No money. It was all for the fun. Even the top pros were only making $500 for a 1st. Place win.
Yup...hard balance to maintain a "skate rat" status.

very hard to maintain especially if you need another source of income then unfortunately I'd probably recommend anything other than skating🤣 we are all mainly broke boys even the pros nowadays work side jobs to get by

This is going to sound like i am disagreeing, but i am not. It is just a different lens.
Work Life Balance. Think the goal or idea of this causes unneeded stress. From our 20s to 50s, starting a family and getting the career going there is going to be work. However that being said, there can be Harmony. It is how we use our off time that provides harmony with the work life.
I have been a U.S. Army Paratrooper for the last 28 years. I am lucky to get 6 days a month skating. However, those 6 days bring harmony to my work and family life. They mean more to me than anything. If i had it more, would it mean as much? I don't know.
I am 21 months away from a 30 year retirement. I will still work after this. I think work is good for the soul.
Or maybe i open a skateshop.
Anyway, good conversation. Stay Rad and Stay in Harmony.

That's a great way to put it and thanks for your service brother! I think different lenses may see the work life balance differently and I feel their is a different "ideal" for everyone based on their circumstances and it sounds like you've found a great balance and a meaningful career which is all we can ask for! God bless!
