      One more thing. I havent seen anyone do this yet, but I was going to do this to mine. I saw a street fighter display at Walmart and how bad the graphics were getting on the controller board from so much use. I was thinking while i have the board all apart I would get some clear vinyl and cover the whole controller board so it wont ever peal off.

      You are going to love it. Honestly the hardest part of the whole thing was trying to figure out where to put the usb encoders on that small dash, and that is just a will the wires reach this far kind of thing. I just thought why not just make it easy for people, and make the final steps after that etaprime video on the hardware on how to finish this arcade 1up machine easy. I am now going to try to personalize it more for the machine itself maybe making some Arcade 1up Splash screens, and screen savers. I have also had a request on how to create your own images for others to burn I may do this with my own 128 Gb image soon.

      @@moton410 Lol I have a video of clear coat on the control deck. It turned out good. Yes clear vinyl would be even better, but they are both kind of a mute point. This is because now Arcade 1up is offering clear plastic covers for free. (They do TAKE FOREVER TO GET HERE.... I am still waiting for mine) Just send a email to there customer service or call and they will send it out in 6 weeks. Just say you saw the ones at walmart, and have started to see the decal rubbing off.

      @@ValkyrieVewas I actually bought two 128gb sd cards this weekend. Curious about that though. So if the image is 128gb and you need space for retropie as well and the card doesnt typically have 128gb even though it states 128gb. Does that mean you need a larger card? Or is the image around 100gb, but saying 128gb, because that's what you really need to stay efficient? Am I making sense? Lol

      @@moton410 if you bought a 128 gb and you dowload a 128 most of the images that say they are 128 will work. They are compressed a little. Like 100gb and then decompress to size of card on first boot. I have a 128 image on my 128 card.

I wanted to find one the person with little knowledge of setting these types of things up could do easy. Rival,
    Great videos (saw your 128gb one too). I am in the process of doing the 128gb image. I see you have other videos for adding games, which should be easy enough by watching them.
    My question though is: Most emulators I have used, they offer save state and load state functionality for NES, SNES, Genesis, etc. Does this image allow for save/load states? Can I set it up in the individual emulator controller settings? For example: NES only has 2 buttons: B & A. For the NES games, can I set the lower left button for B, lower middle button as A, and assign Save State to Fierce and Load to Round House? Any recommendations for adding S/L state functionality for SNES (without having to add another set of buttons)?
    Thanks in advance!

    • @ValkyrieVewas
      @ValkyrieVewas  5 років тому

      Yep, Save states there is a quick button combo (you will likely hit it sometime lol) But you can bring up retroarch config while in a game by pressing Select + X (I believe it is X) but just press the Select (Coin button) + the face buttons and it will pop up. (also quick save is also one of those Select + A) i want to say. You can also edit buttons in that menu and other things it is the same menu you see me bring up in many games to mess with ratio etc.

    • @kenklobus9210
      @kenklobus9210 5 років тому

      Rival Boss, thanks for the info. I did come across that hot key save function.
      However, i added an additional 2 buttons on the player 1 side that I would like to assign as dedicated Save State / Load State buttons.
      I am able to access the specific emulator menu by Hot Key + X, but i can’t seem to find a way to assign save/load states to specific buttons (i have been able to do this with any other emulator easily but it escapes me in this one). Any advice?
      A few more things of note while setting up last night:
      1) the screen for the gameboy is shifted to the right by half (left edge of gameboy screen starts in the middle). How would i fix this?
      2) save states are are kept indefinitely for each game correct? Save state 0 in one game is not the same as 0 in another?
      3) how does save functionality work for systems that utilize memory cards? (Psx, sega cd, Dreamcast). Do i his save state?
      4) i May have missed this in your videos, but some of the game information on the menu screen is overlapping by 2-3 characters. Any advice?
      5) more of a comment: Omega pie does not have a retro bezel option. To remove the bezels of NES, SNES, etc, i found them in configuration ES settings. Under each one, turn the overlay option from true to false (some like sega cd are default unassigned so no bezel would appear). Also the controls of up and down are backwards in these settings menus and you have to trick the controls to highlight “cancel” to go back a screen.
      Thanks again my man...keep the good videos and information coming !

    Watched your video after I watched ETA Prime's to do my inital install. Between the two videos, I am 99% set now. THANK YOU so much for this video!
    I have a couple of minor issues that I thought I'd ask. If you don't know the answer, no biggie. One is that I was checking Lunar Lander (it's in Atari Classics) for someone else and there's still a bezel even though I turned off all the bezels in your video. Any wild idea where I need to go to turn off that bezel?
    Second; I mapped my controls the way you did in this video which are working perfect for most games. They are out of whack for Mortal Kombat II though, so I watched your other video and went in to re-map the controls. I still can't see to get them right though because I don't know that menu well enough. I'm not asking you to do an MKII specific video for controls but thought I'd ask if you might know what button I need to assign to which control in the menu to get close to the arcade set up.
    In any case, thanks again for the videos in the first place!

    • @ValkyrieVewas
      @ValkyrieVewas  5 років тому +1

      Watch the video i just put up about the dynamo arcade. In it i show a different way to disable all bezels in all emulators. Via retropie settings. See if that works. Also if you press the select and x (just keep hitting face buttons and you will find it.) You will get into retropie setting where you can set custom controls for each rom.

Go to a game (atari) and once inside press the select button + I think it is x (just press and hold the insert coin button and press the face buttons. One of them will bring up retropie emulator setting.) Once in those you can set the emulator settings for that emulator, and then save them. Hmmm i would have to reload the image to test. Was working on a new video. My guess is that game resolution ratio might need to be adjusted. (The select plus one of the buttons in game will pull up retroarch menu) or maybe when game boots up press "A" and go into settings for game. Then maybe try a different emulation for the game. Lastly you could try to move game to the final burn folder and try final burn. It works with alot of games mame has a bug with.

    Sorry, newbie here, what is an "image"? What do people mean when they say "arcade image"? Is this like a image you see when you boot up? Or do people mean all the games software? I am confused by this word. Thanks.

    • @ValkyrieVewas
      @ValkyrieVewas  5 років тому

      A image is a thing the holds the operating system all the games all the configs. Its a single file that you can use to restore a computer, or install everything all at one time. For example when you back up your home pc its making a copy of everything on that system. This is called a disk image. A copy of the hard drive. In the case of raspberry pis they use mirco sd cards that have a image that has been installed on them. This image includes all games configs and the operating system.

    • @lHurtYourFeeIings

    • @ValkyrieVewas

      @@lHurtYourFeeIings Lol yes it is a image of someone else's Pi Computer. You can find more on the arcade punks here www.arcadepunks.com/retro-pi-downloads-page/ You will need to use a program called bittorrent to download the images. They are very big in most cases. Yes you can change the picture in the settings of the retropie setup options. They have a few default ones, and a few others you can download once you connect the raspberry pi to your Wifi. You can even make your own, and drag them to the correct folder. I am going to be doing a video on that when I have some free time.

      Download winrar or winzip (This video has the download link to winrar). the file should turn into the same icon as the winzip or winrar. Double click an this will bring up the zipping software. Inside the file you will see the image file. Drag (or unzip) the image to your desktop, and this will unzip the file into the image file you need. Then continue with the above video. I HOPE THIS HELPED! :P

Worse, if you start the Star Trek game and exit it, the bezel from Star Trek will appear over any game you play from then on. You have to go into BezelProject and shut them all off again to get it to go away. It's really annoying.

      in the description he has links to google drives you can just download all the winrar files and then once you have all of them. Unzip them to desktop and install them to your Pi via Wifi connection. (I have a video on that)

    Rival Boss, So if you were beginning this this modification... This is the first thing you do before installing the Raspberry Pi 3B+ correct? Sorry because like you said ETA does the hardware install and they made it seem like just plug and play the Raspberry Pi.

    • @ValkyrieVewas
      @ValkyrieVewas  5 років тому +1

      At the start you want to buy the correct parts aka a raspberry pi (I would suggest the B+) some usb encoders with sticks and buttons (amazon is friend) The correct VGA converter board (make sure the white letters are correct) A AMP with MP3 out, and the audio 3.5mm (Think that is right) cord. Install it all via ETA or now others install videos. (I really should make one of these LOL) Then buy whatever size Micro SD card you want (I would suggest 128GB or bigger) Then watch one of my many videos with how to install the image onto your SD card. I have a new one I am working on today that is a 128GB attract mode AMAZING Image. Feel free to ask any questions I will try to help.

      Also almost forgot make sure you buy a kit for the Pi sometimes power supplies can be lacking. AKA buy a good highly reviewed power supply for your raspberry pi. It honestly is really easy to set up after you get all the hardware put in.

    • @vorenge
      @vorenge 5 років тому

      I have a B plus also. It takes a really good power supply and they run at full speed, but if you get a voltage drop (even a little) they slow down. The 3b plus takes more power. I'm currently using a 2.5 amp power supply and it still slows from time to time if the voltage drops. I've since added an overvolt flag to my config file and that helped almost eliminate it. I'm considering downgrading to a regular 3b and trying default settings just so I don't need the overvolt flag.

    • @ValkyrieVewas

      Check to make sure your retropie audio is set to HDMI. Retropie settings> audio, and change the output to HDMI. Let me know if that works. If you have sound in main menu and not in roms a audio setting needs to be changed in Retroarch or retropie

      A lot of the commands are still in the system as last used commands you could try to scroll down to get to a emulationstation (with joystick not sure if this will work or not.) Try a different none driver needing keyboard.

    A lot of the SF mods but I would like to see someone mod the Deluxe Cabinet. To be able to navigate retropie menu with the trackball. Image with trackball spinner and button only games. For ones that have Centipede and Asteroids cabinet would be great reason to get deluxe cabinet as the mod cabinet

    • @ValkyrieVewas

      I personally am thinking about it. But honestly from where I head the ball isn't the best, and like the spinner arcade 1 up is slowly replacing them... I am still waiting on them to send me the clear cover for the control deck. I think once they get some of the manufacturing issues fixed you will start seeing a lot more. I was thinking of a way to play light gun games on it (since there is a ton of those) using something like a old wii controller idea or something like that since its a LCD screen.

      I mean are you talking about getting into the retropie menu? Just press whatever you set as select and then each of the attack buttons. If you want to time stamp it i could figure it out. I think i just say that because most people dont remember what button they set for each key so just trying all 4 of them with select until it pops is just easier.
