Throughout the game, Cal uses a broken saber that belonged to his master, Jaro Tapal. It used to be a double-bladed saber but due to damage, only one blade is still working. During a normal playthrough, it is later repaired at one of the workbenches. So here's the question: Can we actually avoid this upgrade and finish the game with a single saber?
And that's not all. At one point in the game, Cal's weapon breaks and he travels to Ilum to build a brand new split saber. In this video I also try to find the answers to two additional questions:
1. Is it possible to avoid getting the saber crushed?
2. Can we beat the game with a broken non-functional saber?

What doesn’t make sense is when cal gets stabbed by his own lightsaber from Vader. Vader turns the lightsaber around even though it’s double sided.
He was toying with him.
It’s frowned upon to use the force to turn a light saber on or off (canon)
It’s either that or that scene was made earlier in development and they may have originally left the double blades lightsaber as something optional but changed it later in development

The fact that we didn’t get any alternative outfits besides the inquisitor one, without mods of course, is crazy considering just changing some colors on Cal’s outfit makes it look completely different
My new computer comes with fallen order, and im sorry but could you or anyone explain to me what the FUCK that running and walking animation cycle is? My boi looks like he just shit his pants and is moving in a way he can avoid creating brown streak marks on his undies. Like did anyone ever make a mod that fucking fixes that running and walking animation, or does his walking or running animation ever change, or is he forever running like a british politician on their way to meet the queen and they are late but running in the palace is not allowed?

Lumikki Harthri I personally never had an issue with his walking/running animations but I do agree that they look sort of weird. Hopefully in the sequel they’ll change them or make them better.

What is that music called with the scout trooper deaths?
The usage of *tone* alone is what makes this video great. When you can set a mood and transition from one tone to the next almost seamlessly, you're already more skilled than 90% of modern filmmakers, with their insincere bathetic Whedon-esque quips.
The biggest example is the series of sequences between 6:12 and 14:44.
The tone goes from
_empty, desolate, hopeless_ -- the Portal soundtrack playing over the frozen frame of Cal's struggle, then reflecting the barren, half rendered dead end he encountered with his lightsaber -- to
_small moment of levity_ -- relieving tension -- to
_"neutral"_ -- -- to
_light hearted_ -- there may be a way out yet! -- to
_humorous_ -- self-explanatory -- and finally
_wistful, mournful_ -- suits Ilum very well, and a fitting tribute to Martin Cameron, quite respectful. -- He then moves on, continuing the momentum.
ALL IN THE SPACE OF 8 AND A HALF MINUTES.
This also puts aside the multitude of impressive mods used in this video, enhancing the experience and showcasing the work of talented modders.

I also found 4:34 to be a chuckle-worthy moment. What's neat is that the "replay" also starts with a horn section from the Jedi Fallen Order soundtrack, creating continuity. A cool detail.

Revisiting this video, there is a small detail which I'm not sure that's intentional or merely a subjective take, but at 14:27 we hear the Clone Wars Ending piece fade out with a solemn recital of the Imperial March motif. To me, this death knell references the death of another father, that of Anakin Skywalker, in Return of the Jedi. Listen closely to the soundtrack of this scene: ua-cam.com/video/RaXhYy0Sz_w/v-deo.html
If memory serves me, this is the *only* time that Luke Skywalker is depicted crying! (potentially excluding Revenge of the Sith, where the child actor portrays both Luke and Leia.)

The entire intro sequence is great: I like how you had added the animation of Cal inspecting his lightsaber by activating and deactivating it, as if he too is contemplating the question of completing the game with a single-bladed lightsaber.
@@newlifeandnewcivilizations8389 So the first scene with inspecting the lightsaber was deliberate but the reference to Vader is actually accidental. I wanted to have this calm and somber ending piece during the memorial part but I didn't even notice while editing that it's the same theme that played when Vader died. Good catch. I can't take credit for this but it's cool it turned out like this. It's a cool reference now that I think about it and I did it by accident xd

The funny thing about this game is that cal learns a lot of things and a lot of new powers but he's the only jedi who doesn't learn how to use jump force but learned how to use force flying
I wish we could have opted for a double blade or not. I don't always like walking around with a long lightsaber hilt

I always like a single blade hilt (especially in KOTOR 1-2). Though I had a double-blade in this game, I used a shortest hilt possible and used one blade only.

Learned about the flying glitch a few months ago & used it to skip parts of Illum but didn't want to destroy the game's story by skipping the split lightsaber upgrade.
Glad to see that there's a video now showing off what happens if you do as well as skipping the double-bladed lightsaber.
Since the lightsaber still works perfectly during the cutscenes, maybe the double-bladed upgrade wasn't always mandatory but was changed later in development.
Possibly because there's no obvious sign that the workbench even has the upgrade and the devs were afraid of the player accidentally missing the feature.
Not being mandatory would explain why there are 2 other workbenches that are completely optional & out of the way of the story. Hell, I didn't even know there was a 3rd one since everyone only talks about the one on Dathomir and the workbench is normal when you already have the upgrade.
Force flying glitch is pretty funny and makes it possible to break the game in some hilarious ways. I'll have a video about that ;)

Cal can "fly" using the force. Once in a distant past, a jedi could fly, but the technique was so ridiculous that the Jedi thought it was a sith thing

I had no idea about the jump glitch until I saw this video. That's the kind of silliness I like to play with.
I desperately tried to avoid it until Ilum in my no upgrades Grandmaster run. After 4 times of exiting to the menu and trying again I gave up. (Also the lightsaber throw glitch works if you beat the game normally as well)
I'm gonna go ahead and say you should interact with the Kasyyyk bench if you're doing a no upgrades run since skipping it kind of breaks the game
Nah, it doesn't break anything. You can progress normally but when you get split saber on Ilum it's not gonna give you double-bladed style. You still have to get it independently by going back to one of 3 benches.

Cyan color blade with a pilot suit is the correct way to play the game. I’ve always wondered if this was possible since I think it’s more appropriate thematically for a double blade to be constructed on Ilum even though that comes late in the game.

The hair change thing is a mod, so you can't use it on console.

Movement remains relative to the camera so there are no problems.

An interesting note: During my first play through on the game before any patches I encountered a glitch where I clipped through the grate floor on Bogano just before the area where you acquire the location of Dathomir. Clipping through this put me in the room with the upgrade bench.

It would have been cooler if the game let you spec into what lightsaber style you wanted instead of just forcing you to to use Double-Bladed.

I actually managed to glitch the broken lightsaber on ilum. Before you get to the splitsaber bit, there is a meditation point near some probe droids, cal reacted to them and pulled out the broken saber then lit up the blades, but since it wasn't supposed to happen he puts it back on his belt with both blades still ignited. It stays for a bit, certain animations turn it off.
Yeah, you can ignite the broken saber when you press BLOCK when someone attacks you. I didn't know where to put it in the video so I didn't. I'm gonna have a seperate video for breaking the game with glitches and cheats ;)

This is a good idea but a bit too short for a whole video. Avoiding prison was a cool topic because there were quite a few questions to answer and things to show. However, I want to make one video where I show most interesting skips.
