      If he’s not a Canadian citizen I’d deport him after the sentence too. In order to get citizenship you have to show you’re a person of decent moral character. We have enough problems in this country. We don’t need other countries’ problems too.

      Truck driver was intoxicated so he just got his license for a year or so.

      My friend who was getting robbed on camera had a gun( illegal) on him and gunbutt the assailant who had a knife and who had punched him twice and tried to grab his chain all on camera. My friend got charged for the gun the assailant didn’t get a day. 😑 if he didn’t have that gun he would have been dead but who cares right

    This is not a strict ruling. The taxi driver lost an eye, he may never get a license. Full ban, impound vehicle , 5 years in prison and 50000 fine.

      Full ban on driver’s license rarely ever happens. Driving is a constitutional right. You can be convicted of 3 DUI’s and you won’t lose your license.

    I see this almost everyday on the 401 between Kingston and Brockville, and the OPP seldom are around to catch these idiots, (except near Brockville, and entirely absent around Kingston). Enforcement of the traffic laws is lax (at best), and taking away a license for a few years does almost nothing (these idiots will be back on the road, without any license, within a few days, using either someone else's license or simply not getting caught again). The traffic courts in Ontario are a real bad joke!

    Joke sentence from a joke justice system that is fed joke drivers (in Ontario) from a joke G2 exit testing standard. Drivetest is still using the modified COVID road test - no parallel park, no 3 point turn (therefor no reversing), no roadside stop reduced markable corners, business sections, lane changes, stop & through intersections etc. Oh and did I mention the joke route trainers (excuse me, I mean "driving instructors"). The MTO and the minister responsible should be ashamed of themselves but hey teax revenue is the priority over road safety I guess.

      @@martinc.720 It's the lowering of standards. It starts by learning, practicing & earning a license. It's supposed to be a privilege to drive and a respected responsibility. When a credential isn't earned or given with little to no effort standards (road safety in this particular matter) are reduced and the consequence has become increasing incidents such as this. I know it's hard to see but please apply this train of thought to certain aspects and outcomes within your life and society as a whole.

    That is a clear example of a joke justice system in canada.. penalty must be minimum 3 years, max 10 years. Pleading guilty for driving recklessly should agrevate the penalty of imprisonment.

    I live at the lake in Canadian Shield country year round. During the winter locals drive responsibly. During the summer city folk drive dangerously and risk lives just to spend 10 minutes more at the lake.

    The law needs to get tougher on ALL types of criminal behaviour. I work with young offenders, and let me tell you, it's a joke. Some of them have told me they would probably have stopped breaking the law if the law had been tougher on them in the beginning. Upwards of 50 and 60 B&E charges dropped, car thefts dropped, assault charges dropped! Where is the deterrent???

    only 9 months behind bars. 2 have been seriously injured. Depending on how severe the injuries, the reckless driver should have gotten atleast, minimum 10 years!!

    9 months is not even enough. Too many reckless driver on 400 highways and in Gardiner. If the jail time will be longer then probably recklessness will be reduce. Most of the reckless driver have money to pay the fine. That's why they can get away easily.

    This is why I practice defensive driving and let other pass when I am in fast lane, its the BMW drivers fault but that won't bring back your body or life if this happens to you. Be vigilant.

    the fact that the lawyer says he may appeal shows how horrible of morals even the lawyers have.... if I was defending him I wouldn't appeal I would be happy hes off the street.

    I came back from Kingston when a car blew between me and a car in the other lane. To this day I’m not sure why we didn’t lose our front bumper. It was that close.

    Should be deported to Poland if that is possible (after serving the full sentence). 9 months for half blinding someone for life is a sad joke. Not justice.

    There’s no excuse for this type of reckless behaviour.
    It sounds absolutely rudimentary, however this clearly demonstrates how dangerous passing on the right hand side can be. Calling it an “error” is ridiculous, as this type of move is quite possibly an old habit, and his ‘luck’ simply ran out this time.
    Before you berate me for making such a simple statement, maybe observe the next person you see making this type of manoeuvre, and see if they end up having to mash their brakes to avoid a collision.
    A nine month sentence is no walk in the park, but losing the use of an appendage, or one’s eye is absolutely life changing.

      @@SAT1337 yeah they need to update the driving rules. Right curb lane is for passing, school zone speed limit is 100km/h. Following distance is 5cm / 0.1 sec whichever is closer
