Not EVs, plug in hybrids. Get your facts straight.

It is still EV that is catching fire. Just because it also has a gas engine doesn't mean you don't count the battery fires... well unbiased people at least....

@@h.mandelene3279 so by your standard, every car can be classified as an EV because they all have batteries.
Why If a plug in hybrid catches fire, would you classify it as an EV instead of a combustion vehicle?

Look out into the traffic. EV owners appear unconcerned, and I think very few look at this trash.

Where’s the data, as in actual numbers of fires per 100,000 BEVs?

However, GM wasn't the only automaker with problems, we saw major recalls from Hyundai, costing an estimated $900 million, and Ford's Kuga plug-in hybrid facing recalls of $400 million of dollars related to fires. Thermal management and fire safety of electric vehicles is a topic that IDTechEx continues to research and monitor

Electric vehicles will dominate in the coming years, hopefully we will find fewer and fewer problems in the future

You have been told NOT BYD EVs but BYD Hybrids (petrol and Electric don't go together and the batterys are a lot smaller in Hybrids and are prone to over heat and catch fire) the trouble is most manufacturers outside China use old battery chemistry ( still using COLBAT) that is the biggest factor in NON China EV car FIRES. Do your research, then inform the uninformed the true

It is a fact that gas burning vehicles have more than 8 times the rate of vehicle fires that BEVs do. Since Chevy recalled all the Bolts with defective pouch cells, BEV battery fires have dropped to near zero. Check your facts before you post a FUD hit-piece like this.

If you own your home, don't put an EV in the garage. Park it out on the street. You may not have a car anymore but at least you'll still have a house.

@@neilellison8984 GM "claims" that they fixed the problem with the Bolt battery packs. I don't think so. Pouch cells are like a big bag of jelly that expands over time with charging cycles. Defective or not, those things are going to wear over time. It's not a matter of if they will spontaneously combust, but rather when.
I'm a supporter of BEVs myself. GMs attitude toward their BEV products and the people that buy them is shocking (excuse the pun). As a person that wants BEVs to be successful, their attitude is hurting the cause.
I don't blame the people that bought the Bolts. I doubt that they were properly informed of the risk they bought with those cars.
