idk how I stumbled into this channel but I'm pretty hyped after this review vid. I have the Torins and I've been eyeing another Altra shoe thats "slightly faster" as a daily trainer. This looks pretty solid, still on the fence tho. That said I love the toebox/zero drop nature of Altras.
Hahaha I don´t know why Altra does not gusset the tongue, quite strange. Sometimes it feels like they just keep doing their thing even though everybody think it sucks. Like the Torin 5 and 6 lounge which was like cardboard. Why would I buy that? The fact that the Torin 6 tongue sucked as well (no pun intended) after all the criticism boggles my mind. I stocked up on the Torin 4.5 but finally, the 7 seems decent. Big Altra fan but I run in other stuff too so I dont mid them trying new stuff as long as they stay true to their old models. You make good points of the look of the upper too. Really love your videos man, the production value and your passion really shines through :D Big ups from Sweden as always!
Thank you brother! I always appreciate your support. Yeah I think Altra has come a long way and will continue to improve. Hopefully as they come into the non-zero drop world they will continue to improve. I’d love to see them make a carbon plated non-zero drop shoe
As someone with very wide, hobbit feet Altras' wide toe box is a wonderful. I got some Torin 7s in the summer and after a bit of breaking in they are nice but I cannot pick up the pace in them at all (unlike my wide clifton 9s) so they are slower run shoes up to about 10km. tempted by a casual use pair for the summer though because of the toe box alone.
I've tried a pair of Altra Outroads trail runners, but had to return them because of the lack of drop. I guess my flat feet didn't agree with that particular specification of shoe. I think I needed more drop because I felt like I was rocking backwards the entire time. I do love their toebox shaping though-- can't be beat! and yeah, their colorways are a bit bland for sure. No lies told, as usual Aubrey!
This is why I love this shoe. It gives so many people a chance to try it out but also gives Altra a wider market. Thanks for the comment as always my lady!
The irony here is that in all my Altra shoes I say exactly this that Altra are the only brand keeping things natural from the stack height to the foot shape. I just didn’t do it in this one
Yes, Altra made a Clifton... but without the little toe blisters!! 😂 BIG Clifton fangirl here, though I admit I buy them slightly big to avoid those little toe blisters. Dunno if you know Chris Branch, osteopath and ultra runner on youtube, a big big Altra fanboy who claims these are great for HYROX too ... have you tried Hyrox Aubrey? I imagine it'd be right up your alley!! Unfortunately all brands do not do gusseted tongues on all their running shoes, even all the ones you mentioned have PLENTY of shoes that are ungusseted, very sad indeed especially with the prices they put on them too!!!
😂😂😂😂 I see your point. And yes… without the blisters. I actually enjoyed my run in these and they exceeded my expectations. I’ve never actually tried hyrox but it’s picking up on popularity and maybe one day I will give it a go but I’m massively addicted to running.
Been tempted by this a few times but never pulled the trigger as I worry about how firm that midsole is? Might take a punt when I see it on a decent sale 🤔

Harsh? nah that's all on how people 'take it'. If you're soft... then, that's your issue. I'd rather hear the voice for the community rather than a sugar coated review as dictated by the majority of shoe reviewers in UA-cam. ( All Parroting the same thing as next guy..)

Very kind and thanks for that feedback. I had the option of trying the Mach 5 and the Mach X and figured it’s a no brainer so went with the Mach X

They have nailed it with the foot shape tie box. I think all shoes should do what Altra does because feet get damaged otherwise.

What makes you think that a stacked heel is normal? Seems like our feet arent built that way.

They already brought it down and I think it might go down further for sure. I enjoyed it. No complaints from me at all!

I tried a pair of altras about a year ago on a 5 mile run. By mile 2 I was ready to toss them in the rubbish bin.
Youd have to try these particular shoes because they have moved away from the zero drop norm! Give them a go!
