It says can't unmount
I did everything and it worked!! But when its being installed it keeps restarting by itself! I tried it multiple times but same issue, keeps restarting…. Any tips?

@@lennyj4931 I think the problem for me was, my laptop does not run on SATA controller. I think it's NVME. So, maybe the only option left is trying on a external hard drive.

Excellent to the point video. I am installing Monterey onto a new 1tb m.2 drive and this fixed my issue within 5 mins. Feel stupid for ordering a second drive now as this was cleary the issue.
Mines showing GUID_partition_scheme on internal and it’s showing me error couldn’t unmount disk. Can you help me?

As in your case the disk is shown as OS X Base System, but the next step didn't work out for my case. Any other hint?

I have a question:
Yesterday, My Mac was fine and shut it down. Now, I turned on my Mac and it says “Your computer restarted because of a problem”, i press a key then it restarted and it goes back to that message. I pressed Cmd + R. And I clicked Disk Utility and “Macintosh HD” is not there. The only thing that is there is the 251 GB APPLE SSD SM02… and disk0s2 (which is greyed out).
I don’t know what happened but I can’t use my Mac because of this problem. How to bring back the Macintosh HD?

Use command option R at start up and it will install the latest version of macOS, this will see the new drive.

i bymistakely deleted the internal disk and this was all i need wow just amazing thank u for the video too helpful
For me it was differently: when I placed an SSD instead of DVD drive, the Disk Utility did not show the new disk. After rebooting the machine the MacOS (El Capitan) detected the SSD and asked what to with it. I told to initialize it, and it became visible in Disk Utility.

If your SSD is not showing up, try to boot your Mac holding option + command + R, this will boot up your Mac with a newer macOS version and it should see your new SSD.

I can't find the disk. I can find it if I put a bootable Windows USB drive but not through the "diskutil list"
I am going to try this soon my husband has cooled down. after erasing the hard drive to install a new copy of system operation, I was unable to do so, it wouldn't show the hard drive to select to continue with the process then wouldn't connect to the server, set the date and time in terminal and made sure it was on the internet, still know hard drive, now i'm going to try this, will let you know how I get on.

Hello. I'm from Brazil, I'll translate for you, I hope you understand.
. Check with the crucial website to see if there is a firmware update
. It would be nice to have another SSD to clear the doubt
. Check that there is no dirt in the logic board slot where the SSD goes
. Reset nvram and pram
. Install the older system and see if it is regular on the reference disk
. Read about fusion drive (I think this model has it)
. Install the high sierra and do all the updates it has, I believe there is a firmware update for this model
. Carry out these tests, but the ideal would be to have another one from another brand, sometimes the brand and model are not fully compatible with the logic board
These are some tips that I remember now.

This solution didn't help me cause diskutil didn't show my drive either. Entering recovery via Alt+Cmd+R (not Cmd+R) did the trick for me.

Eu fiz esse mesmo procedimento no meu MacBook Pro 2015 pra tentar reconhecer meu SSD NVMe de 1TB com adaptador, mas mesmo assim ele não aparece no terminal. É como se não tivesse nada inserido lá, e eu to usando o instalador do High Sierra também.
Estranhamente, eu o SSD esquenta dentro do Mac, dando sinal que ele tá funcionando de certa forma, mas nada além disso. O que pode ser?
Se vc usa adaptador para o nvme, pode ser isso.
