I Bought ALL of the Silver Shot at My Local Refiner

- I went to my local precious metals refiner and I bought ALL of the silver shot. I use silver shot to melt down and pour silver artwork. I used to use silver bullion such as silver bars and silver rounds to melt down, but now that I can get this shot cheaper I am going to be buying this in the future. Silver shot is not for stacking. Silver shot is for melting down. Sometimes people will call silver shot casting grain because that is what it is for... melting and casting. Silver shot can be refined to 999 or 9999. The shot that I bought is 999 and I can buy it for 60 cents over spot at my local refiner. They will be stocking more so I can purchase more in the future.

Nice! This is how I would have my silver. It is very natural feeling. (I like mineral collecting so having things be in a more natural state is more appealing than a design.)

Having an inexpensive supplier for our casting shot is a real score for sure. This is really nice too bud. Nice and regular. Someone sure knew what they were doing when it was made eh. I have 4 sets of bolt cutters I use on breaking down bars. Love em for sure and a lot easier on my acetylene as well. It is great to see you with good suppliers son. I get my shot for a buck over so that makes us even on the costs eh. We do pay tax on shot up here from folks like SGB but I have a private supplier so he is tax free. You pour away my dear friend. I buy 20 -30 oz at aaa regularly Their shot is very consistent It pours so nice and shiny and you’re right they charge $1.80 over spot if it’s being shipped

Great video, do you know if there's a way to check if your silver shot is .999 or .925. I'm asking because we bought some shot from an online seller and it was really tarnished vs another dealer which came in with luster ( have you had this happen) But when both were melted and poured@ 1083 Celsius they looked the same. I mean would the copper in the .925 separate from the silver when melted if I keep the temp set at 962 Celsius ? Appreciate any advice
No mark,integrity of test is not ascertained.if refiner has it wrong can turn .925 silver into .800 silver

Jeff Koehne yeah they do assaying there so i’m sure it’s legit but it also passed SG testing. I will say no markings would make it very hard to sell 🔥🐉

That's pretty cool. I'd definitely buy that if I had a means of melting and pouring it...like you said it's kinda an issue not having it marked three 9's, as far as resale anyway..at least in bar form, you could test 10 or 20 bars

I ask my regular silver store to keep ugly silver that I can melt. I also bought a suspect bar that tested on the edge of good but they were reluctant to sell it as fine silver. When i melted it the flux grabbed a lot of dark contaminants. I’ll run that through my silver electrolytic cell to get known pure silver crystals. They are happy to get rid of silver near spot rather than continuing to hold suspect or not pretty silver.
Ha. We are of the same mind I tried to call AAA on Thursday to see what they had but they were closed. I'll try again on Monday. Gotta get some beaver rounds. Beats paying $21 for buffalos
I see lower prices, but you have a very good point about someone seeing you melt something and getting upset.
If the price goes back to say $14 something....a bucket would be nice, to build up your inventory, but not at 17.50ish.

And I'm only like 15 seconds in... but dude have you noticed how the Scottsdale Tombstone 5oz 10oz kilo nugget bars look like.. which looks to be silver shot heated up and then pressed together to make em... what you think?? I got some silver shot but only around 11 ozs of it
Silver Dragons. I've been to AAA a few times but I prefer to go to AJPM and Portland precious metals. Check them out if you haven't yet.
Gold & Silver I have been to all 3 and a few others as well... AAA has the cheapest not on sale at 60 cents over spot... I do really like AJPM though and they have good deals 🔥🐉

Have you thought in reusing the bars or round instead of melt it?
If you have already a bar, why don't erase the design using a hammer (to make a nice surface) and stamp something cool instead of melting. Cloud result something beautiful.

ASE’s $3ish/oz. 7 years ago at $16 ASE’s and Maples were going for $1-1.50 over spot.
