I always thought it was, 'fear in my eyes, can you sew them shut', because I thought this song was literally about a 'man in the box' in Vietnam and when you were in that situation, fear is something you would try not to show. After finding out that this song is basically about addiction, then 'feed my eyes' made sense in context with the other lines and I understood the meaning. Whatever you hear is what you hear. No matter what the artist meant when writing a song, everyone takes their own meaning from it and applies it to situations in their own life which is what makes us attached to songs in the first place. Sometimes, finding out the artist's interpretation can actually ruin a song for you, because it no longer relates to your life as you thought. If we couldn't relate or apply the song to a meaningful time in our life then it would seem abstract and out of place and wouldn't be as prone to stick in our heads. Whatever you all hear, may this song have some meaning in your life and even possibly help you work through some emotion. Be Excellent To Each Other, and.........

I will never get tired of this song!!!
I'll prefer AIC over Nirvana
I've finally trained my vocals enough to where I can sing the "feed my eyes, Jesus Christ..." Part without shredding my throat, it took time, but now I can hit the notes correctly and not kill my vocals. Now time to learn the rest of the song lol
Haunting voice❤...rip layne.
Awesome!! I love covering Alice in chains
Love this song...
Greatest song known to mankind
I am mimicking the song and singing it with my guitar just for the great sound and lyrics it has.
I'm 27 and have loved this song for as long as I can remebwr. Now that's what you call music, unlike the shit we hear today.
I agree, this kind of music is lit, this Is why I like music from the 80's 90's 70's and even in the early 2000's

Man in a Box stays in my head......Love & Miss Layne.....I sure wished I could have saved him.....Layne was one hunk of a man!!!!!!
