An American Airlines passenger plane carrying 60 passengers and four crew members that departed from Wichita, Kansas, and a U.S. Army Black Hawk helicopter collided near Reagan National Airport Wednesday evening and crashed into the Potomac River, according to law enforcement, a statement from the airline and people familiar with the incident. Police have pulled multiple bodies from the water, according to officials and people familiar with the situation who spoke on the condition of anonymity as they were not authorized to discuss the incident.
A desperate search for survivors is underway after a Blackhawk helicopter carrying three soldiers collided mid-air with a commercial plane that had 60 passengers and four crew members near Reagan National Airport in Virginia Wednesday night.
Flight 5342, a PSA Airlines Bombardier CRJ700 regional jet operating for American Airlines and traveling from Wichita, Kan., collided with the military chopper while approaching Runaway 33 at the Washington airport around 9 p.m., according to the Federal Aviation Administration.
The military chopper had three soldiers on board and was not carrying any VIPs, a defense official told CNN. The Blackhawk can carry 15 people
“I have called over to my counterparts at the White House, and I can confirm that President Trump has been made aware of this situation,” Press secretary Karoline Leavitt’ Sean Hannity.

"Tower do you see that" is another aircraft contacting the tower after the collision, and not either pilot involved. Listen to the callsigns.

Consider if the PAT25 Black Hawk was no longer under control of the soldiers on board, but had been "hijacked" by remote control and intentionally targeted the passenger plane.
Was that intentional ? With all the warning systems that they have, plus the tower radar, that should have never happened.

Long ago I witnessed another millitary helicopter crash in the Pacific region. I don't know the details of the crash, but I saw the aftermath: 4 or 5 burnt parachute bags. After the rescuers opened the bags, they found that the parachutes were in good condition, the parachute silk (white) was in good condition, even perfect, I saw for myself that there were no traces of flame, and the parachutes were ready for the pilots to use for ejection, but the pilots did not use them or were unable to use them.

This could have avoided if the pilot on the jet saw what's coming to hit them tail then he gonna accelerate up to the sky without doing the landing.
Two aircraft flying in opposite directions If the helicopter was going 100 mph and the jet 300 they were closing at 400 mph. Very little time to react especially when the Jet is turning to line up with the runway in front of the helicopter.

Optical illusion. You're assuming the incoming jet is stationary. Both were moving and unfortunately converged to intersection. The Army pilot told the tower he had the jet in sight, but I'm wondering if he mistook another aircraft for the one he soon hit.

I think the helicopter pilot (PAT25) mistaken the other aircraft as CRJ. Not sure he is using night vision goggles (NVG), the field of vision is narrow.
If they were using NV, the planes lights would have blind them.
