Welcome back! I was starting to wonder if we'd ever see the last 2 episode reactions! I definitely feel like the mind flayer/shadow monster is the endgame "final boss" of the series, and this season is introducing it and what it's capable of but not conclusively defeating it yet. The next few seasons before the last one will likely be working up towards getting rid of it once and for all, because there are still a lot of other supernatural elements to the Upside Down that could still cause trouble in the meantime. I hope this isn't the case of like... every single season the Big Bad gets bigger and bigger to the point where previous enemies seem pointless and the only solution is to press a big Deus Ex Machina reset button on the universe, but I feel like the Duffers know what they're doing and won't fall into that trap.
I agree with you guys. Stranger Things will end with season 4 or 5 according to the Duffer Brothers and producer Shawn Levy. Stranger Things season 3 will probably return until 2019 because right now their still writing. Shawn Levy said that in season 3 every character has a storyline and they will give Will a break from being put to hell in two seasons. It will also have either 8 or 9 episodes.
