    I think for me, flying animals, aquariums, fixes for climbing and (more personally) a way to make waterfalls automatically. Maybe some changes to animal behaviour, like close herding of bison and antelope in wider enclosures and then plant growth would be cool. Beyond this build wise I can’t imagine anything else. Function wise, I would love to see more expansive seasons, staff shifts and better spawning for guests, maybe buses, cars, boats or even trains being functional.

    hey, 3d artist here. i believe you got an important point wrong. no, the ai making animations does not mean a reduction of animations that have to be done or how many animations can be build into the game. it reduces the working time with skipping the steps (the artist would need to do by hand otherwise) in between. the only thing that limits the amount of animations is the programming/engine and maybe the size the game is supposed to have in the end. PZ could also have thousands of animations now too, but then other aspects would be stronger limited or canceled.
    also, when PZ is their best horse in the stable righnt now - why should they do a new game, put in a lot of money in investing into development, betting on a new horse, when the old one is still running? they most probably wont hire new staff too, when they just fired a lot of people not that long ago. I'm sure there'll be a PZ2 one day. But that day isnt near at all. also, now with PC2, where also a lot of dlcs will be made, it just doesnt make sense to shift the focus to a different game that fast. They'll need to wait how successfull PC2 will be before deciding anything after that, or it will have the same aftermath like F1 and Frontier wont be that stupid to risk that.

      I didn't want to go that deep, you're right as for the animation. But I spoke to our in-house 3D artists before the video and there are indeed crazy developments within unreal 5, Nvidias system etc that is basically the choice which animation set is used in which combination. That's what I meant. All that is trained by thousands of actual videos of tigers for example. It's not like it won't get any glitches ofc, but waaaay less than now. Especially the combinations can be X times higher as you said. A) you cut animation time dramatically (which could work in the current workflow too ofc) and B) you don't need to program every possible combination and then integrate it into the Locomotion system, because that's done by an AI trained on the specific animals movement set (which is the big part)
      As for why they would start over again? Same argumentation as for planet coaster 2. Because it sells better. And Frontier showed they rework core systems to make it better.
      The risk is also minimal as the current system was great in 2019, but seems terribly aged now.

    • @KittytheKatfish
      @KittytheKatfish 4 дні тому +2

      @RudiRennkamel your points with the technological development are right - unreal 5 will open a lot of new opportunities in the gaming industry in the future. Sadly frontier isn't using unreal engine AT ALL but their own Cobra Engine. The same engine used as in PC1 and PZ. Switching it to Unreal makes absolutely no sense since they would have start literally at zero with EVERYTHING, costs would be massively higher and not all of their artists might be trained in working with it and cobra is especially good/better optimized for simulation games anyways. You say it seems terribly aged now - sorry, but as far as I could google for it, they are still using the same stuff for PC2, probably just more optimized. So, with that in mind - that point at talking about the workflows (which are drastically different between those engines) makes no sense anymore. Also what you have to keep in mind about game development: no studio develops for the best/newest PC components/tech so fast. They wait a bit until their potential customers have those components/the components being more accessible to the customers and noone buys a brand new PC every 2 years. So when you develop a game, you want it to also run on an older PC (heard around 5-8years older, but not 100% sure about if thats still the case or a different number), so you can reach the most amount of potential customers and not only that small amount of gaming fanatics who are able to afford every nvida graphic card upgrade. If you say a PZ2 would come in 2026, that tech is still a few years out of reach for most people, so it's a too high risk for Frontier (in my opinion) - if they would implement the AI tech you were talking about. And even if the hype for PC2 is up right now, that doesn't mean it will also show in the selling numbers. We will have to wait for that, to be able to say that it sells better in absolute numbers. (Obviously a new game always sells better than a game that's already 8 years on the market...)

      @@KittytheKatfish There are other things Rudi got wrong about the engine. The engine is more capable that what it was used for PC1 or PZ, even PC1 has scaling, they just didn't develop it any further. Just because the game doesn't have feature code in it, doesn't mean the engine is no capable. Similar to animations case, he is confusing the development tools with the engine itself, talking about developing animations with AI (that can be and is done outside of the game engine) as if they are built during runtime in the game engine. Even the cobra version used in PC1 has IK and complex physics, they just were not needed for the type of game they developed.
      I dislike that he started the video saying: this is not speculation, this is based on some context... then jumps into speculating about a few things completely out of context.

      @@yonoqueriacuenta I don´t want to go too deep into these comments, because thats just waayyy too much. But just a few things:
      1. I didn´t mean they should change to UE5, it was just an example to show whats possible. Literally I was saying all your points in a video about people speculating about UE5 for PC2 - you are totally right, it makes no sense.
      2. In fact, I talke A LOT to frontier about this, and they confirmed to me exactly what I stated, at some point, the engine is so different from what the game was developed on that the cost of bringing the game to the newest version are higher than developing a new game for it.
      3. Then again, your tech points that are totally right (and I never meant anything else tbh - my bad if i didn´t explain it correctly - but the verdict is still correct: AI could improve a potential PZ2 dramatically) - but then YOU actually go into total speculation which is pretty wild, if you know frontier. I even have screenshots and facts from frontiers situation in. One example would be your Nvidia comment. Literally PC1 was developed WITH nvidia and for high Ghz CPUs of Intel (where the 2nd decision turned out wrong, which is why the performance is so bad since its not multicore optimized)
      4. I never SAID its done in-engine, and i literally showed actual SOFTWARE WITH SOURCE on screen. But to make best use of it, you use the newest engines - indeed thats 2 seperate things - but I never said anything else. Its easy to jump into comments and claim all these things. But as for me, I have 15 years of working with 3D artists and a whole bunch of interviews with frontier about their engine, their games etc. Unless they were all lying to me, i will stick to what they said.
      All in all, apart from potential inaccurate phrasing (which eventually happens in english for me) i doublechecked everything with my notes and what you said and I can´t find a major issue - the issue appears when you guess all of what you said.
      All these developements are facts, no guessing.
      IF they are Used in One way or the other, THAT isn´t ofc confirmed - and then again, i didn´t say that.

    This is the episode to watch!
    100% agree. I would really like to see (as controversial as it is to the division of Zoo nerds vs Coaster nerds) Planet Zoo 2 be like the WIld! expansion pack of RCT3, but like better. I want to see more rides in Planet Zoo. I want to be able to build Animal Kingdom or Busch Gardens Tampa or Chessington... there's some real quality safari themed parks out there that just can't be fully experienced in Planet Coaster or Planet Zoo. I want to see all three be possible (Theme, Water, and Safari/Zoo parks) but in a PlanCo3/PlanZo3 combined game thing... we'll just call it Planet. I want all the boundaries lifted so we can really explore our own ingenuity and creativity.

    Yeah, I can believe that in 2026 Frontier will release a new Planet Zoo game (perhaps late 2026 like Planet Coaster 2). Releasing Planet Zoo 2 doesn’t mean that Planet Coaster 2 will stop being supported. I mean, 2 years will be passed but DLC could still come out. I also think that Planet Zoo 2 won’t actually be a Planet Zoo, and they will aim to focus on acquatic animals and birds (like Valencia’s oceanografic park)

  • @MichaelWVinzi
    @MichaelWVinzi 3 дні тому

    My only concern with a standard day to day vs day to month correlation is that a lot of the game is built in real breeding timelines. What happens when a tortoise is going to take 20+ years to mature, also most gestation is about a year for most animals. This would be a big detriment to the timing change where I don't think it would be possible. The only way we could have seasons would be 1 year = 1 season type of gameplay.

    Hey Rudi, can you talk about the current roster's portability? I dont wanna lose what we have right now. Also PZ2 they need to make room for birds and fishes, not enough DLC spaces for what we already have. I suggest maybe we paid like extra amount to have all the animals ported over.

    Id love to see better zoo transit options that are way easier to actually use. The exhibit gates are such a pita to put in and connect and overall the trains are the only one that actually carry enough people etc.

  • @Rocketcoasternerd
    @Rocketcoasternerd 4 дні тому +1

    Your clearly thinking of planco 1 wrong, we can’t do anything realistic, we don’t have switch tracks, transfer tracks, and drop tracks. We are also missing many rides. For the general gamer it’s fine like planet zoo but for hardcore players we’ve hit a wall

    • @RudiRennkamel
      @RudiRennkamel  4 дні тому +3

      You clearly didn't get my point. Ofc you can not exactly build it, but technically you have the types of rides.
      While in zoo, you don't even have the mechanic of birds or fish. It just doesn't exist.
      Transfer tracks are equal to missing feeding stations or so. Very nice, but not essential.

    Let's see... Planet Coaster took five years between finishing updates and sequel... Planet Zoo hasn't even finished updates, console version just came out, they're just about to release Planet Coaster 2... yeah, from a marketing standpoint it makes 0 sense to release a sequel to Planet Zoo so soon.

    • @RudiRennkamel
      @RudiRennkamel  4 дні тому +1

      I seriously don't get this point. Planet zoo has already 2 year more support than coaster. Which equals to 4 years if you consider the gap
      At the end, it's
      Coaster 2016->> 2024 = 8 years
      Zoo 2019 ->> 2026 = 7 years.
      So what's your point? There is no marketing rule to have a breakt of some years 😅

      We're talking about two years from now. By then you want a new focus.
      And pz may not be finished DLC- or feature-wise, development has reached its eol state. It makes no sense to invest in new features for pz when you have a new engine to work with. It is very likely that any new dlcs will only be animal packs. (Though we have to admit that the barnyard stuff was a bit of a surprise)

    I get what your saying but it feels a bit close to get a sequel to planet zoo unless they drastically change the way they do things. Also if they did especially if they kept developing dlc for the original it becomes a lot
    More difficult or impossible to include most of the origin game content because some of it would be so recent there wouldn’t be enough time to implement and polish it and etc

    • @RudiRennkamel

      I really am getting tired of this argument (sorry not personal). But just the fact that coaster is 8 years apart, and zoo, if 2026 is valid, would be 7. Given the fact technology develops exponential it would be the exact same amount of essential developments in between. And I'm pretty certain that coaster was planned for 2023 if COVID didn't happen.

      I don't know if Frontier considers pz finished, but I think that pz has reached its limits. Of course they could put some effort in making it possible to add flying/fish, but that is not a wise investment given that they have a new engine. (Actually even without that)
      From Cities Skylines we/they learned that you have to listen to your community. We want flying fish, and with the new engine this will likely be possible.
      People will complain that "it should have been in One", but they will buy the game because it is more beautiful and more realistic than pz1.
