I got this last year for my 12 year old who started piano. He’s now playing in his school band (percussion and bass clarinet) and jazz band (Piano and percussion). This keyboard was a perfect fit for someone starting out but also for more experienced players.

Thanks for your review! The great thing about this piano is that you can also connect it to your laptop/pc and use it as a midi controller. I like to use a virtual instrument plugin with it and make it sound like a real grand piano

Enjoyed this immensely John. Most useful demo on You Tube of this product. A complete keyboard Gumby, I went through the 'which one to choose?' triage about 6 months ago. On my budget I narrowed it down to a choice between Casio's CTK-3500 or Yamaha's PSR-E363, both super bang for the buck impossible to go wrong contenders. Yamaha's E363 was slightly dearer, but won that toss. Having a ball with it. (I output to PreSonus Eris studio monitors if not using a HS) It came as a surprise how much keyboard is as a superb adjunct to assist learning music theory in conjunction with my primary focus of guitar. Having a ball with keyboard. Only one regret. Not doing it 45 years ago. But as you know, things were lot dearer then, and keyboards nowhere near as sophisticated nor served by the affordable accessable tuition tool of the internet.
ive been doing a lot of chores and trying to save up my money so I can get one of these! I really want to learn and start playing especially now that we’re in quarantine and this will keep my busy :)

Yes it is touchy and should work with your software. If you have any problem using a USB cable then you can use the Casio's audio out to your laptop's audio in.

When using headphones the speakers will cut out. Headphones are usually not included with the keyboard. Remember to order the mains adaptor as it too is an extra.
Some of the jazz organ sounds are very low so you might want to raise them by an octave. A more common use is when the singer hands you a piece of sheet music in say Eb and then says, 'But I sing it in G.' You then work out how many steps to raise or lower the transposer so that you can just play the music as written rather than be doing mental arithmetic for every note and chord. e.g. If the music is in G but she sings in A then that is just 2 steps up.

Thank you for your wonderful videos. Which do you prefer playing, the ctk3500 or Yamaha np12? I have the former but thinking of buying an np12/32 for the superior piano sound.
The Yamaha's keyboard feels better than the Casio and is less clicky. The Yamaha's piano sound is better but because of the rather weak speakers it really benefits from being amplified or played via headphones. I tend to play the Yamaha while my grand children prefer the Casio.
First very nice review thank you for showing some of the features of this piano, bought one like yours but I have question regarding connecting it to pc to have some kind of synthesizer sounds I know it has to have some kind of programs to download but was it possible?
I have used this with Garritan software which gives piano and orchestral sounds. With that program there is a box which needs to be ticked under Tools / Preferences. The keyboard also has to be switched on before opening the software. Most programs will do likewise.
Nothing in particular, I was just improvising. As you liked that you would find my album, 'Sounds Spanish,' to your taste. I recorded it under the name 'Harpaxe,' and you can find it on Amazon, i-tunes etc. Cheers.

I have a question: after i plug in my earphones (audio in) do i have to choose something in function? i plugged my earphones in and i dont hear anything in it. the piano's speaker is the one working/sound Sorry for my bad english i hope you understand it :D
The speaker should cut out automatically. Check that you are using the correct socket. The headphone socket is located at the bass end while the sustain pedal socket is at the treble end. If the headphone jack is not fully pressed in then the speaker will still sound but there is no function button to be selected.

As you go higher in the Casio range the piano will get better but the organ sounds are good on this 3500. You could always look for a second hand model.

How come that ours is not as good as this as we played it. Ours sounded like a very beginner type of keyboard. Does it has something to do with the functions? Can someone please help

The Yamaha's keys are better, the Casio's mechanism is a bit clicky. Regarding sounds Yamaha has better orchestral voices but the Casio has better organs. The pianos are equal.

You do not need to do anything other than plug the pedal into the correct socket. The pedal may have the wrong polarity for a Casio. In that case the keys will sustain until you press the pedal. Other than that ,a break in the cable or at the jack, or is the pedal just an on / off switch rather than a momentary switch?
How do I record a particular beat and make it replay while I am playing another song. e.g. I want t a particular drum beat to keep repeating in the background
You can only play one rhythm pattern at a time on this or any keyboard but you can of course play any tune you like to any rhythm provided the time signatures match. For more complex arrangements then an external recording unit such as the Tascam DP-006 or computer based programs like Cubase would be required.

@@grandiosa86 No, the virtual piano seems to be of a higher quality probably because it has only one job to do while the Casio has to cover all the instruments of the orchestra. For an equivalent piano tone you are looking at a much more expensive instrument around the £500 mark.
At least one other person has said the same thing. As you are aware the headphone socket is located beside the power input. Test your phones on some other device and make sure the headphone jack is fully pushed home on the Casio. If it still produces nothing then get in touch with your supplier.
@@LegendEarthyyyTMxX Then there are only two explanations. You have plugged your phones into the wrong socket or you have a duff keyboard. There is no button to be pushed that will fix this.
I’ve got a Casio keyboard for Christmas which doesn’t come with a stand for music sheets. Will I be able to buy one which will go onto my keyboard? Not sure if there is a place to put one on my keyboard until I open it.
If they do not come with a music rest then there wont be any holes to accept one. You can either buy a normal floor standing music stand or one that will sit on your table.

I have not yet had the chance to try the 700 but it does appear to have more of everything so I would go for it.

There is a 1/4 " headphone socket round the back. The keys are touch sensitive but not weighted.

sounds much better than cts 300 despite having 2 watts speakers... later has 2.5 watts each

Most budget keyboards have very weak speakers but sound better via headphones so for this video I recorded the sounds via the headphone output.

The sound quality is not quite as good on the lower models. I have no idea who Chordana is and forget the lights, get a few lessons instead.

@@AK-we7df I don't think that there is any way to do that. Once you have picked a particular beat the machine will slavishly follow that.

I am using a Lead Foot LFD-2 pedal which I got from Thomann. I also have a Roland pedal but it does not work with Casios.

The 200 seems to be a re-mix rather than an improvement on the 3500 so I would say the 3500 although I have yet to try the 200.

Are the keys weighted?
I am glad to say they are not. Weighted keys add nothing to the music and a lot to the physical effort of playing.

No, sustain comes from the pedal which is sold as an extra. Also note the PSU is an extra.
I’ve got a Casio keyboard for Christmas which doesn’t come with a stand for music sheets. Will I be able to buy one which will go onto my keyboard? Not sure if there is a place to put one on my keyboard until I open it.
If they do not come with a music rest then there wont be any holes to accept one. You can either buy a normal floor standing music stand or one that will sit on your table.

It is loud enough fro me (downstairs) to hear what my grandson is playing (upstairs) and whether or not he is just making racing car noises with it.
@@JohnCouplandguitar Thanks! Do the sound quality sounds really good when you are playing at it? Especially on the higher volumes? I read a lot of reviews, and they say that the CTK-6250 have a lot better speakers than this one. But I just dont know how far off the speakers of CTK-3500 is.

@@grandiosa86 The higher models such as the 4200 have much better pianos but of course they cost more. For the money I preferred this to the equivalent Yamaha.
