    In this video, you made a statement that suggested your bee feeding program includes pollen patties throughout the summer. Please tell us precisely when you make this foodstuff available to your bees. I was under the impression that pollen patties were only necessary in the early spring. I cut this recipe down to 1/10th the size and use 2-1 sugar syrup it ended up being really runny so I had to ad more than 1/10 of the ultrabee. So it ended up being about 3lbs 3oz of 2-1 sugar syrup and 2lbs of ultra bee which got me a little over 5lbs of patty roughly half a gallon

    • @kamonreynolds
      @kamonreynolds  4 роки тому +1

      Hi bre car. From my point of view it has no nutritional benefit that we for sure know of. They are added as a feed stimulant. They may very well help the bees more aggressively attack the patties but for the price of H.B.H. it is not worth it. Also, I haven't seen a lack of desire by the colonies to consume these. This could be due to the dried lemongrass that is already in the ultrabee. I have wondered if adding more would be good but just have not felt the need to try. Not saying it is bad for the bees but it is bad for the bottom line and I am not sure it actually helps.

    Im new beekeeper, and i just dont understand how is it possible that here we dont have any pollen substitute like you guys have ultrabee nor anyone talks about it ever. No one uses any kind of patties

      Hi Nedim. We have it available here but many in my state say not to use them due to the hive beetle. They are very useful helping colonies in poor years and especially helpful on young splits with very little beebread going thru a period of pollen dearth. Even if a little pollen is coming in it may not have a high or full enough amino acid profile. Some locations have long diverse pollen flows so these are not as useful to them. To me they are another tool in the tool box that helps me keep my hives healthier

      Lako je to odgovorit. Zato što naše pčele nisu kokoši koje ginu svake godine kao njihove.
      If we didn't need it for this last 1000 years...cood be thet we don't need it this year nider. It's diferent beekeeping, all about big nunbers and spliting...not thet i'm an ekspert on sub.. It shud be normal for bees to not have a flow all year around..one from the top of the hive, or from nature.. but i anderstend, when they are your job and you need to make a living of them..it is a diferent thing.. and in a year like this they need it to growe them fast.. not for honey.. za nukleuse

    SO KAmon...you did away with granulated sugar? this video you only show Ultra bee and syrup????? No veggie oil?....apple vinegar?....I have your last recipe and found it to be thick....can I add pro sweet a few days later if I want to thin it down?....No hugs needed here...Roll Tide!!!!

      Hey Robb just sucrose syrup and ultrabee. Before I had easy cheap access to prosweet I had to use granulated sugar, water, veg. Oil with the ultra bee. This recipe last longer, is easier and quicker for me. You could add a tiny bit of syrup and see if that helps

    man great video but it was dissapointing what you said to your son you are the father you can do what ever you decide to
    but next time you can cut the video and let the kid have a hug from his mother 1 video is not more importent from a kid loving his mother and i dont think any one wold mind if you cuted the video

      Thanks for watching!
      I also know my son says things to get attention. What he said was "cute and sweet" but he directly disobeyed to ask for that hug just so he could get in the video. He is a good kid but like many children (and adults) attempts to manipulate from time to time. I assure you he gets hugs on a regular basis.
