    “I’m guessing you love coffee.”
I’m a Mormon. I’ve never tasted coffee and I have no desire or intention to taste coffee. I have no idea why I am so interested in learning the best ways to make it.

I was shaking my head about the school using kcups. A coffee pot, brewing one pot and serving many people, are what cheap drip machines excel at. Have one person keep the coffee supplies stocked, and everyone gives that person $30 to cover the full year. That's how it's done.
Also with the money you save a cheap electric burr grinder is fine for drip coffee. People drop hundreds on espresso quality grinders, but for drip, the cheap ones are perfect.
I buy whatever whole bean coffee is on sale at Costco and put a few in my freezer, and once a week or as needed just top off the hopper to let them come up to room temp. The cheap grinders typically have timers which you can correlate to your desired coffee doses, like for single serving pour over I do size 15 to count if 10 Mississippi, and this yields 20 grams. For French press I loosen it all the way to course, setting 45, and there a timer setting 2 that will yield 60 gram course.

you save money with the keurig machine though, if you use the reusable kcups. You fill it with your own coffee and you don't waste any, since it only makes about a cup at a time.

I converted to a Keurig several years back and never looked back. I am a single busy person who travels a lot and rarely has company so I don't require a large amount of coffee. I found the Keurig option - with standard K-cups is really the cheapest option that given me the best cup of coffee in the shortest amount of time.

You can go to aldi and get coffee for 3.50 a pound, or twelve pods for 3.50

I bought the Great Value "donut shop" k-cup 12pk brand for $4.44 at Walmart. Two of these 12 packs will last me a full month. I don't drink coffee on my days off from work.

I have the Ninja dual system that will brew a perfect pot or K cups when you're in a hurry. It's already paid for itself multiple times over. I think I paid $150 for it 👍

i'm not very good at math, can you give me the equation to calculate (for at least 5 cups of coffee per day) beans priced at 9.99 reg price, 8.99 on sale?

Yep! I did that math a long time ago when they first came out. I tried one that a friend had and didn't like it better than my standard drip so I never made the plunge. Great job! :)

my next coffee related purchase will be a coffee maker that has a grinder built in so that it will grind the beans fresh before brewing and have it ready at 5am when I get up. :)

We had one of those at the Gaslight office when I worked there. Be careful when choosing one, our grinder would clog up sometimes and stop working... We also had issues where things wouldn't line up and the grounds didn't make it in and caused water and grounds to flood the counter.

I use a K-Carafe Reusable Filter, it holds a lot more grounds and makes VERY strong coffee.. I also use a paper filter which I noticed makes the coffee a bit stronger, and cleaner without grounds.. the paper filters cost me about $0.5 per filter and supposedly will make 32 oz, but I make a 20oz cup in it so it's quiet a bit stronger.. I also buy my bags of coffee for only $1-$2.49 per bag at Ollie's they have a lot of coffee selection its overstock so they sell it at a fraction of the price of other places.. even their K-Cups are only $0.20-$0.32 per K-Cup depending on Brand..

The fact that 10 k cups cost 4-7$ based on brand, but that I can buy a massive container of maxwell house that has 100+ cups for 7-8$ based on store. Filters are 2-3$ for 800. Plus the black and decker coffee maker was only 40$. That’s pretty dang cheap

I use a Hamilton Beach flex brew that costs me $80 dollars at Walmart. It comes with a bold setting for a stronger cup.I prefer the carafe over the kcup maker because it is a quality made coffee maker plus the coffee comes out fine. I like brewing Maxwell house smooth bold and wake up roast. Every now and then I will treat myself to Starbucks kcups. Not a lot though. I hate the price of kcups. Still great for convenience.

I don’t know whether to trash my Keurig, and buy an old fashioned simple coffee maker, or just get the reusable cups you can put your own ground coffee into. I can’t tell if it’s the machine that sucks, or if it’s the k-cups.

So about 30 cents for a one (K)cup of what is barely better than instant coffee vs 30 cents a pot of good strong real coffee. No comparison. I'm single now but I still make a full pot, drink 2 cups, let the pot cool, the funnel it into bottles and ice coffee in the fridge for anytime or the morning I'm in a rush !!!

A French Press is a nice way to mix things up as well. It is normally strong, but add Starbucks type ingredients to it and call it fancy. LOL

Great Job Man! Makes perfect sense. Keurig tastes awful in my opinion! I'm the only coffee drinker in my house so I do pour-over and aeropress. I break out the French press when friends are over. Bought a Keurig yesterday at Sam's and am returning it today. Wow, it's bad!

Brewed coffee is superior to the k-cup. Even if you buy the reusable k-cup it takes at least a tablespoon to make a cup of coffee that still tastes weak. With the traditional brew you are getting 4 cups of stronger coffee from using only 3 tablespoons.

    Here is the breakdown:
3 or more people: drip machine
    2 people: French press
1 person: French press, aeropress, pour over, clever dripper etc. All of these methods are better than Keurig.
