    You can take a tour at the Grand Island plant. They offer them. I’ve spent a lot of time there and Hastings. The funny thing to me is, all those fields of beans and corn around that plant? And all you see are Deere combines and tractors running. It makes me laugh every time I am there.

    Loved the new travel shots of moving your equipment. Loved the sweet downshifting of the 18 wheeler pulling a grade. Somebody knows how to ride! Awesome! Things like that may seem ordinary and boring to you guys traveling, but it is new to us who have never farmed in our life. Fascinated with your travels to harvest America's bounty. Thanks for the ride along! Nice to see Tessa back! Fall is definitely in the air!

    You would enjoy going. through the John Deere combine plant and the Commons in Moline Illinois. The Commons is where they display the new equipment and a memorabilia store where you can spend a lot of money. I live 10 mile from there and I visit the Commons often even though it is the wrong color of equipment for me . Happy Harvest!

    1880 Town are all old building, many in near original condition. Many were moved in to the present site. There is some memorabilia from the movie Dancing with Wolves. It is an interesting stop. We went thru the JD combine factory a few years ago. It was just a little before JD was going to quit building their "straw walker" combines. It was an interesting tour.

    What if.....someone were hired to go through each combine nightly, refuel, blow off, grease, check sections, clean window, do everything and a bit more than is done every morning before you head to the fields? would 10 hours cover that? what would it cost? 20-25/hr? Would it then save the crew an hour in the morning?
    Would $300 then get an extra hour for each combine in the field, not to mention an extra hour of sleep for everyone on the crew? an extra hour of sleep each day is worth what?
    Pile on me, readers if I'm missing something here. I'm not criticizing the amazing effort by everyone on the crew for the months they're on the moving harvest, but waking up groggy in the morning and doing critical inspections day after day maybe isn't the best use of resources.....I certainly can't see the majority of the custom harvesters as they're not on UA-cam, but wondering if this IS being done on some crews.

    • @HarvestChic
      @HarvestChic Місяць тому +1

      @jameskelley8839 - one person isn’t doing everything you listed each morning/night. We all branch off & split it up so that someone is fueling, while someone else is greasing, while someone else is washing windows & cabs, & someone else is usually doing a walk around. It’s a group effort & doesn’t take a long as you think. We are a small crew & have to make do sometimes. It’s hard enough just filling the necessary jobs- being away from
      home for months on end isn’t something that a lot of people jump at.

    I know that case combine factory has tours regularly. I’m guessing John Deere does too but I don’t know especially since they are moving to Mexico like a bunch of douche bags. 8 billion in net profit isnt enough they need more. They should get taxed for equipment coming out of Mexico then they would think twice That ceo went from 3 million to 15 a million per year salary in a very short time. Hes the one that choose to go to Mexico. Another thing that makes me not want to own all my green paint is the fact that bill gates is majority share holder of John Deere now. He is the biggest lowlife there is. So it makes my want to buy any non green equipment. Even though I like the equipment. The AF 11 we demoed is much more impressive then the x9 we had demoed 3 weeks ago.
