yes yes, i’m loving being able to see the different villages in Chania! i’ll be moving to Crete in october with my LD partner but we have a place in Rethymno in a very small village near Plakias. i’m very excited and it pumps me up when i see your videos! 😊
Absolutely! Most UA-camrs just show the trendy spots in their area. This shows your viewers the culture in each area you visit. It explains the real world concept of acquiring land/property in Greece. For many of us who aspire to move to Greece one day, we only hear of all of the obstacles to achieving the dream. You are showing us the real world process, which is invaluable. The best part for me was when the locals recognized you and you have only been in country for a few months or so. That is a testament to your success...but more so to the ease and enjoyability of watching you as you explore a new life together. Keep doing what you are doing. Big Fans! To the point that when we travel to Greece next, we will look you up.
By the time you find your property you will be well known by everyone in Crete 😊 We love your enthusiasm and approach to life; we are proud of you guys!
It's true younger Greeks are leaving their village origins behind and are moving to bigger cities all the time. But it is a matter of how do you see yourselves in five, ten, fifteen, twenty years time, and so on. Since, in your current line of work, you only need a workspace and a good internet speed, a village is not a bad option. Chances are you will have a better speed and connection in a village than in a city. Then, it's a matter of family growth. Me and the missus decided that raising children in a big city (either Athens or Thessaloniki) isn't an option and decided to move to a village. Yes, we are missing a lot of things, but internet gives you easy access to so many things these days we didn't have when we were at that age. And it's more important for our kids to grow up 300 meters from the sea than in a filthy and dangerous neighborhood in a city. Lastly, I like having a small garden where I grow some vegetables, some herbs and even have some chickens for our eggs. And a vine root or two for shade, our annual needs for wine and raki, and ofc, treat the occasional visitor to a grape or three!😂 Appart from the above, the only thing i would still consider is a relatively easy access to a health institute, of whatever size.
These are all very good points to consider! Thank you for sharing them! 🙏 We like the idea of living at a slower pace in a village close to Chania, so we can have easy access to everything we need.
Kalimera well I do like this house hunting series as I like to see more villages of Chania. Raul 3:56 you both made me laugh with you as you try to place the camera in a comfortable angle 😂 yes the view from up there is breathtaking I can imagine the night view must be as well .. enjoy your house hunt 🏡
Welcome to Greece ❤ Wishing you all the best! Ideas for future videos: why you chose crete compared to other places in greece, tasting local cretan products(food, raki etc), what you eat in a day greek style.
Thank you so much!🇬🇷 💙🙏 these are all very good ideas! We love to hear what you like to see. If you have more ideas in the future, keep sharing them!❤️
I am really enjoying this series! Good luck in your search! My family is from Kandanos, beautiful village, tragic WWII history. Probably too far from Chania for you guys though
I do enjoy each of your videos so much ! I'd like to know if it's possible to stay all year if, as EU citizens, we buy or rent something on the island, without beeing retired ? Do you know the conditions, and are they the same for all EU citizens ? Thanks a lot for your answer, if you have one ! 🤩
Thank you very much for watching us 💙💙🙏🤗. As an EU citizen, you can stay all year round without any visa. You might have to apply for a tax number and become a resident .
@@Sunpire The Greek embassy in Belgium told me that it was not possible to live all year round without being retired! I do not understand anything anymore. I just hope you're right ! 😊☺
We are EU citizens, too, and we got the tax number. We have the right to work here as well, and if you do, you will have public health insurance as well. If you work remotely, you need to sort out your health insurance. That's pretty much it. You can stay here for as long as you want. There is no visa required for EU citizens. 😊
Another (last) option would be the NAMFI Barracks, if you join the Army, I think its also used by NATO like the Souda AFB and you are from a NATO country ✯👌
I've spent some years in Greece recently. Share your email, and I'll send you some locations you should check out. I've been on the outlook for property in Greece and know some affordable spots near the mountains and sea.
You will have better luck asking locals about properties for sale if you learn Greek. Duolingo has a nice course for the Greek alphabet, which helped a lot with reading signs.

Just curious but how tall are you guys?
Hello, 1.76 and 1,70
I’m Greek and I don’t know how to pronounce the name of this village. 🤣
That makes me feel better 😂😂
@@Sunpire it’s true. Many times “ia” at the end is pronounced “ya” so it would become “rya”. But I don’t know with this one.. 🤣

We will learn Greek eventually, but for the moment, we are learning English, and slowly, slowly, Greek.
