+Ohio Fish Rescue Whats the filtration of those big tanks? Whats the *nitrate* levels on these tanks and where are the fish wastes? I couldnt see a single fish waste in any tanks...whats your secret?
Cleaning it's not rocket science
my discus is rubbing against some rocks and flicking its tails and fins rapidly sometimes, ammonia 0 , nitrite 0 and nitrate is 5ppm, temp is 28c, ph 7(also does this in ph 6.4) , could it be because of heavy metals found in tap water? I didnt use water conditioner yet, could it be bcoz of that or is it the temp?
ALWAYS USE WATER CONDITIONER WHEN DOING WATER CHANGES. The chlorine in tap water is bad for your fish and will hurt the beneficial bacteria in your system

God bless this man...who would ever start a fish rescue? As a long time fishkeeper, I'm glad there's people like this out there caring for fish.
It is nice to see someone who recognizes the "spirit" in living things. When fish overgrow the tank they are in, people can't give them away a lot of the time. And living in Ohio, dropping most of these fish into the local lake is a death sentence due to the cold. Fish are fun, but this is more than just feeding a hobby. This is being a purveyor of our humanity and demonstrating all life has a place in this world.

This guy's an absolute Legend! Fish are healthy and well fed, and water looks pristine. Most people can't even keep a 10 gallon guppy tank looking this good.

Bless your heart, and your love and compassion for aquarium fish. It looks to me that all of the fish big and small in your care are happy, healthy and comfortable. It's people like you that give me some hope in knowing that there are still people out there who think of the care for the fish first, before the owner themselves. I work in a pet store and help manage our fish department, and for 4 long years I've seen some pretty large fish come and go, and tend to wonder if they're still in good hands up to this day. In the past I've seen some fish in pretty sad predicaments when it comes to improper housing, and we need more thoughtful people like you in the world to correct this wrong, and thank you for all that you do for the aquatic critters who can't help themselves. (:

I would say he should put a large sheet of plexi glass across the deep end of the pool, then the wife and soak in the shallow end and see the fish through the glass! So it would be like half a fish tank and half a pool.

and when there got a leak anywhere,the fish on the other side will die because of the high chlorine content......

Lol, he has tanks inside pools. He has such a big heart I’ve never really heard of fish rescues.
It just blows my mind that this guy has all this time, money and energy to deal with all these fish tanks! Food, electricity, water changes, heating. Not to mention if one gets sick! Absolutely outstanding the work he puts into them and he has tanks he hasn’t cleaned and brought into his space yet!!! Wonder what he use to do for a living? Is he ever gonna stop adding more? Huge respect for his commitment he gives to all of these fish he rescues. Especially how he keeps the named ones. I did notice at 9:50 he said there is no south american cichlids, but there when there are convicts, firemouths, and a geophagus.
I was thinking the same thing, especially about my respect for the work he is doing, but the ctenopoma is definitely not a cichlid... Still, he's managing thousands of gallons of water. I lose track of what I have in just 9 tanks.

Build another pool/creek dedicated for your big fish. that way you can do whatever you want with it, and both you and your wife are happy.

I love OFR. I rewatch every once in a while their videos, he is such a great person to do this for the animals! If he can accomplish the indoor pond its gonna be a homerun, imagine swimming with your arapaima (hopefully she doesnt bite your toes).

You are completely right. He needs to get that chlorine back in the pool for his wife. Further, I’m not sure it’s good to swim in algicide in the first place not to mention brain eating amoebas might show up-seriously.
@@andyroberts4089 brain eating amoebas? seriously? Millions of people swim in ponds each year and there's maybe 1 or 2 cases of that each year. It's incredibly rare and unlikely.
