Olivia’s vampire music video hints to a professional feud as it clearly depicts a grammy ceremony and there’s a scene where the spotlight hurts Olivia when she has at her highest moment. It’s Olivia showing us the moment she debuted she got attacked. If the song was just about her ex bf that video wouldn’t make much sense. To me, it clearly is about Taylor. But since she’s not that naive anymore, she won’t openly say it’s about Taylor cause that would be suicide.

I adore Taylor but I do think that's really messed up to put Sabrina as her opening act while there's still rumors of a feud. Poor Olivia...imagine your idol hating you because they see you as competition and to make it worse become besties with your old enemy. I feel like Taylor is usually right about not liking someone though she always seems to have a good reason.....but with Olivia it just seems cruel.

Well sorry to say this, but olivia doesnt have that intelligence. Her lyrics are too raw and harsh. She is not at Taylor level yet. Taylor dishes people in her songs without the need to show or give the illusion that she is attacking someone. So I dont think vampire is about Taylor. I feel bad for Olivia. Shes so young and her literal idol and inspiration turned out to be such a mean girl to her. Taylor is an icon no doubt, but she can be a shady industry titan to whoever she targets.
I think Taylor felt threatened by Olivia, because she was doing so well with her debut album & started to outshine her. Taylor wanted to stay at the top of the Billboards & stay the industry darling. She really worked hard during the pandemic releasing two albums because she didn't want someone to take the Number 1 Spot away from her.

It doesn't sound as if she thought that the young one was coming for her 15 years of being queen bee. All that the poor little girl did was get to number one for eight fleeting weeks. And Miss Femme Power releases a vinyl. Come ON. Olivia wasn't aiming to compete, it's Taylor who cannot do anything BUT compete. don't you worry, she's pretty much going looking like the next Madonna at this point. And if she keeps up that attitude, she will also end up butchering her face. In this life, you have to live and relax, too, or you can end up getting Peter Pan syndrome.
Olivia used parts of 2 different songs of Taylor's for 2 of her songs, Olivia knew Taylor's discography very well. You don't use other artists' work unless you ask and give writing credits. She used more than a sample. She did this with other artists also, I believe it was 5 different artists. If she wrote a book but used parts of another author's book, she would have been accused of Plagiarism. Taylor has to protect her work otherwise others and Olivia would do it over and over.
She also sue and sent legal team after Etsy sellers using some sayings that most people did not knew Taylor Swift trademarked. Apparently she trademarked "this sick beat" "player gonna play", "TS", etc. and even "Swish Swish" a Katy Perry song title. Apparently you will also get an automatic legal letter tagging "Taylor Swift" on your products too.
The "you sold me for parts" is quite obviously about Taylor, in my opinion. As it was "parts" of Olivia's songs that made Taylor take credit, also the "famef--ker" wouldn't make sense if the song is about a romantic relationship.
Although there are some lyrics about a love relationship, I think it's done to kind of make things unclear whether it's about a professional or personal relationship. But the music video with the awards ceremony also hints at issues related to the industry.
It's fun how songs can be interpreted differently. I interpreted famf*cker as a guy going around getting with celebrities to get famous. And the "you sold me for parts" I thought it was about someone getting in a relationship with her just to get roles.

@@cates140 I didn't know about any of this and when I heard this song, I thought it was about someone IN the industry (someone with some power over her career). "Sold me for parts", isn't something you rly think about ppl u date, it sounds like exploitation. For example, Mitski when referring to working in the music industry she mentions "working for the knife." The symbolism of being dismembered but also being sold, hints at it not being a song about heartbreak (at least not entirely). However in comparison to "Brutal" where she alluded to industry exploitation, this feels much more personal. So it could theoretically be about someone close to her who also benefited from her (not necessarily taylor swift, could literally be her manager, a producer or something)

Olivia Rodrigo is, like Taylor Swift, incredibly clever. They can both disguise non-romantic relationships in a breakup song. Examples are ‘Exile’ and ‘My Tears Ricochet’. Some references in Vampire that could refer to Taylor swift: (1) “cool guy” -> “The Man”; (2) “castle built on people you pretend to care about” -> 1989 era ‘Squad’; (3) “I loved you truly” -> having been a lifelong Swift fan; (4) “You made me look naive” -> Having given credits for “One Step Forward, Three Steps Back” prior to Sour release, then having to give credits for “Deja Vu”, then again for “Good 4 U”; (5) “Bleeding me dry like a goddam vampire” -> she now has to pay millions in royalties; (6) “You sold me for parts” -> coincidentally, after Paramore gets credits for Good 4 U, they will be on tour with Taylor, hinting that Taylor have influenced Paramore to seek credits; (7) “Girls your age know better” -> a lot of ‘The Squad’ have dissipated, moved on from Taylor, perhaps for reasons?; (8) “The way you think’s the kind of thing I’ll never understand” -> Perhaps dealing with the inconsistency in Taylor, like how was sued for Shake it Off but then seeks credits for Deja Vu; it might be her entire approach to the music business, etc.

For those whose saying she should do something on her own , she's doing maybe there are similarities because she saw her as her idol but you can't say it's copied . Supposing that Taylor has been mean to her, I think Vampire is a reference/response to Taylor's Bad Blood... You know, one of the shadiest TS songs of all time where she targets a big female celeb and recruits many females from the industry on that one song out of all of her discography making their fanbases her own too - drinking their blood and trying to f*** Katy's fame. She created Bad Blood with Olivia too and drank it in the form of the money Olivia had to pay and tried to knock her fame down a notch cause her records were being broken hence Vampire... I think Olivia is trying to allude that what Taylor did to her is similar to what Taylor did to Katy

Nothing wrong about writing a song about anyone she wants, but having a whole video campaign about pitting woman against Katy, and trying to find every big A-list name she could pull as me vs you, was whack.
What doubles down her pettiness? The fact that she backtracks years later and went out of her way to blame “the media” when it was her who was out for revenge regarding Katy. She also posts a picture of Katy’s Olive Branch gift, with the words stating she is sorry. Which came across as really childish. If Katy never had apologised to her, Taylor would be still taking shots at her (purposely dropping her catalogue release on Spotify the day Katy Perry dropped her album.)

Its sad for me to see that she is being treated that way by her idol. Some celebs really are not what they seem, like us normies they have their bad or shady sides. That is why never put them on a pedestal and kind of expect the worst from them. “Idols” find it incredibly annoying when artists like Olivia adamantly sucks all their original work/art/style. The only actual vampire is Olivia her damn self. Celebrities have warped minds sometimes. A lot of them came from poverty or less than stellar situations. In this situation I assume Taylor Swift probably viewed Olivia Rodrigo as a great person she inspired but once fame and money came to Olivia Rodrigo, Taylor viewed her as a threat. I listened to those songs and maybe there are a couple of lines or two that are similar. Seeing as Olivia was a huge swift fan, i would say that some of Olivia’s music might have been inspired by Taylor but not copied. It’s pretty common for younger artists to be inspired by their favorite artist. It really looks like taylor might have used her power to bully Olivia.
Typical of Gen Z to think they can just take what ever they hell they want and feel proudly entitled to it. In NO WAY should Olivia be able to sell music that is HEAVILY "inspired" by another artist and not give credit openly and monetarily. Olivia wants to be the next TS2.0 and she will never come close. It's already been done and is still being done. Olivia should stay in her own lane and carve out her own path.
Everything was okay till The interpolation issue started.. intellectual rights is a big issue to taylor because 6 of her albums that were made from heartaches, traumas etc are not legally hers because of a contract that she signed as a MINOR . So I understand why Taylor would come after the interpolation rights of the song "Dejavu". its just sad that taylor's legal team wasnt contented about just the credits... as someone who thinks she mentors olivia, its fine to get credits but she didnt have to demand royalties out of it . She's alreatd making millions from her own songs anyway.

I agree it could be about more than 2 people or a certain time in her life. Don’t be fooled by LOVE lines, they are so convenient and used often on purpose so that listeners can make the song be an outlet for their lives and their own feelings.

"I should've known it was strange, you only come out at night" he's a dj and a nightclub promoter so he comes out at night.
"Famef*cker" he's known for dating popular girls such as Madison Beer to increase his status in the entertainment industry.
"And every girl i ever talked to told me you were bad bad news" Zack has bad track record especially since his relationship with Madison was exposed as abusive and toxic.

No one has the right to use other people's work, if the song didn't get heard, of course, Taylor and the other 4/5 artists wouldn't have heard it, but once it was heard, action to protect your work should be taken.
I do believe that Taylor does shady and calculated moves, but I also believe that Taylor and Paramore deserve credit on those songs because it seems that Olivia took their melodies and then changed the lyrics and tempo or rhythm.

I don't think you should hype Taylor swift's album success to much especially with her excessive amounts of bot streams and views plus how many different versions of albums she releases plsy ridiculous discounts and long pre orders and desperate deals. Before merch and tour bundling was banned, she heavily would use them. That's why she asks her fans for such high pay cause she over spends to prove a point no one cares for. She is barely am A lister, she also isn't popular or or talented apart from her writing skills. She also isn't a huge name outside of USA and Canada. Especially in South America and Africa

I see both sides. I think that Olivia is a talented girl and I would say that she may be naive but the industry is something else. First these are the facts, I don't think Taylor has anything against Olivia, I just think she is an artist who cares a lot about her legacy and fights for her work and that of her collaborators to be taken into account. It's obvious that if the song takes a part from Taylor Swift's Cruel Summer then Taylor asks to be listed as one of the authors of Deja Vu. Olivia is naive and claims to be a huge fan of Taylor, but Olivia forgets how Taylor has had to fight since day 1 to be recognized in the industry, when they said that she did not compose her own songs, when her Masters were sold by Scoott to Scooter without her consent and whose music and benefits ended up in the hands of Scooter Braun, a bully, it is obvious that Taylor wants to protect and recognize her rights, and we will not forget that behind Olivia there is a discography that benefits too, it's not like they're taking candy from a young lady who wrote a Grammy-winning album in her bedroom. What did you expect Olivia to take part in Taylor's songs and have her legal team not react? Well no. That's how the business works. I understand that this has caused you disappointment, but I think you should be masking that disappointment rather because of the losses it brought to your discography. That's not Taylor's fault.
What legacy are you talking about? Taylor is not an original either. Most of her lyrics, can already be hear from other songs, movie/tv series lines, and common catch phrases that she claims to have invented as her own. Also her concepts are copied from different sources such as movies and TV series. Check out her concept of Willow and the druid dance in Outlander... plus many others. Someone should actually do a deep dive and compilation of all of TS infulences to stop this blind worshipping of Taylor. I was hoping you would cover this as I only learned about this was from your previous video. I don't often look into these things but I thought that the issue with the writing, was that she "interpolated", rather than sampling or just inspired by Taylor. Because if it was interpolated, (Taylor's chorus melody from Cruel Summer, and Olivia's "Deja vu?), or sampled, it says permission is needed from the original artist which would mean it WAS a case of Taylor legally being credited. Do I have that correct? I'm kinda behind a decade to singers, right now, but imho, there were definitely a few things mentioned more than once which could reference Taylor, (I've only watched that video from the headlines that it was going to expose Tay), but there are references to castles, both visually (like in Tay's obious, Love Story and the Bejeweled intro/ outro), and the aesthetics in mv for Vampire looked like a mix between the light ethereal and innocent (Love Story) and then goes darker in bejeweled at the end- with the Game of Thrones, style dragons. Like the Targaryan rulers and Queen Daenarys.
Lyrically they both used castles- and Taylor mentions them as metaphors a lot! And storms, fires, water, especially in Folklore and Evermore. I think the shades line is the "Bloodsucker, Famef***r!" 😆
As I see it though, Taylor is definitely business savvy, but I guess she's learned and earned a lot from it and it is up to her, who she takes on tour, hangs out with, etc. But that's just my opinion. Great video as usual! Interesting about Paramore. It seems like Taylor’s been friends with Hayley Williams for a long time. For instance, she sang on Taylor’s Speak Now (Taylor’s Version) Vault track, “Castles Crumbling”. I think the rereleases are popular because of the Vault tracks which are new to us, which is one of the reasons I love the rereleases plus I’m more of a fan of Taylor’s music pre-Lover era so I like hearing the old school songs again. However, I went into a coffee shop a few months ago and as I listened to this song play I thought, "this isn't a normal couples' break-up song. It sounds... darker than that. Much deeper."
