- Important video correction: I have been made aware it is actually Manganese in the glass which causes the bottles to glow under UV, not Uranium. My apologies!
Hey friends! While spending time in isolation, I've been able to go through some footage I haven't had time to edit yet and make some videos! This one was shot back in February and it was fun to edit and get out into the world! I hunted a brand new creek for bottles and found some pretty cool stuff. I also take y'all to explore a historic bath house here in Florida, AND at the end of the video I show some of the awesome Fluorescent bottles I have found. These bottles were made between the late 1800's - 1920-ish and had manganese in the glass mix which is why they glow under a UV light! Pretty dang awesome! Hope y'all are staying safe, healthy, and taking care of each other during these hard times.

IMPORTANT CORRECTION: Since posting this video I have been made aware that it is actually Manganese in the glass that is fluorescent, not Uranium! Uranium glass is also fluorescent, but would have the green color even without the UV light. Sorry about that y'all, but I'm glad we were all able to learn that!
Today's video is definitely a little different in some ways. I hunted a creek which is to be expected, but I also took a detour to a historic bath house that I wanted to share with you, and I showed some of the fluorescent bottles I have found. Let me know down below if you guys enjoyed today's video! I would like to incorporate more exploration of historic places like the bath house in videos.
Yes, more historical places please. :-)
Awesome video. I just bought a local book yesterday of a town called drennon springs in ky that had several springs, hotels and a military academy. Sadly nothing remains but a church and one gazebo.
The glass that contains uranium is referred to as Vaseline glass. When not subjected to UV/blacklight, it has a yellowish green appearance.
WILDKYLE please do
I'm relieved it's Manganese, not uranium! The latter has a radioactive shelf life of, oh, just a few million years!
Thank you for the historical site tour, and for pausing on the signs so that they were readable! There are a lot of historical bath towns in Europe; Bath, in England, is probably the most famous as a Roman bathing spa town. "Drinking the waters" was popular up through the late 18th or early 19th centuries as a medical treatment. And I can tell you from personal experience, drinking that water tastes like drinking lukewarm rusty ironing water. :-P We also have a Roman bathing town here in Switzerland, called Baden (which, not very original of the Romans, means "Bath"!).
Stay safe!
Love the black light on the bottles!
There was a company called Hazel Atlas. They made bowls, glasses, plates of glass. I was told they would glow with UV light. 1920?-1940's
Loved seeing Old Florida spots!
Loved the history of the bath house. Cool green bottles who would have known? Great finds.
Thanks so much Lynn! I am glad you enjoyed it. ☺️
WOW‼️ That GREEN is fantastic‼️
💜💙💚💛🧡❤
Cool bath house spring ruins loved it and some nice bottles 🐝safe dan🤿🐠
OMGosh, that spring cured ALL that I'm shocked it closed down. lmao Thanks for the tour Kyle really enjoyed this.
Night time hunts 👍🏼
I'd like to give it a shot sometime soon!
I loved seeing the historic bath house and enjoy the bottle collecting. Basically, take me into nature in Florida and I'm happy. Fossil hunting, I think, will always be my favorite. Also, I love a good thunderstorm...perfect laying by a window and dozing. Not so much being caught outside in it. I will stay in the pool if it rains but not if the thunder and lightning gets bad. I have been caught in summer thunderstorms on the Itchetucknee, more than once. Scary.
Didn't know those bottles would be fluorescent, loved that green color! My dad had told me about the grove's tasteless chill tonic . He said it did taste nasty and was full of gritty stuff!😛. I like old ruins with history, that bathhouse sure was cool man! Imagine what it must have been like, back in the day.
That would be a really cool place to dive and detect under water 👍🏼😁 Thanks for sharing your adventure!
The tour of the bath house was great! Loved it!! The glowing bottles, very cool!! Enjoying the videos, def would like to see more!! 🤓😎
Those bottles are so pretty my grandpa use to dig up old bottles and stuff so we saved alot his bottles back in the day some of them were blue that's awesome tho and the spring looked so beautiful I love the old brick looks :)
Thank you very much for bringin us outside !
Of course! Thank you for watching! ☺️
Cool bottles for sure.
Kyle, I think there was another error in the video. The "clover" you came across may actually be wood sorrel, which is often mistaken for clover. It is also known as sour grass. The leaves, flowers and seed pods may be eaten in salad or cooked, but only use the young parts. It is tart and delicious in salad. It is loaded with vitamin C and oxalic acid. Love the videos. Thanks for being such a trooper!
Very cool.. I didn't know manganese did that. Great way to tell which bottles will purple in sunlight. Stay well & HH
Kyle, the view of the springs is amazing! I'd heard about it, but have never seen it. I love the glow of the bottles, isn't that cool?😎 Stay healthy and safe!😊
Glad you enjoyed the springs Cynthia! I thought it would be a cool addition to the video. I'm obsessed with the glowing bottles now hahaaha! Hope you're staying safe and healthy also!
Whoaaa!! Radioactive glass! #dope
Great video Kyle. That’s so cool that they glow in the dark. I hope you guys are staying healthy and safe right now!
Wow u got amazing place i love history about the bottles and yes please do some more on this really enjoyed it 😊
Great video. Thanks for the approximate dating of the bottles. I would love to see a night hunt!
You really oughta try doing a blacklight bottle hunt at night one of these days! It'd be interesting to see how much of those creek beds would glow.
I just found a doctor Kilmer’s Swamp root bottle a couple of days ago. In the Indian River Lagoon. I wish I could post a pic of it. Totally intact. Beautiful. Also, regarding bottles with manganese- manganese was put in the glass to make it clear. Ironically, after decades in the sun, the glass will turn purple. I have about a dozen of them. I left them out in my yard, even for a whole year, and they are even more purple now. I even have a small manganese inkwell from the 1800s. Nice purple tint with bubbles. That’s a nice creek you’re hunting.
Ooh! Didn’t know that some glass glows like that😮 I’ll have to dig out my special UV Cat Pee Detector ™️ torch and check mine! Exciting 😆
Kyle, as a child spending a few summers at a mineral springs resort in Northern California (Deerlick Springs). I would see a couple hundred people a season, some in wheelchairs, crippled up with arthritis, gout and so many other ailments, that would go there and spend some time soaking in the mineral water as well as drinking it, leaving a few weeks later, not needing the aid of a wheelchair or walker, also lost weight, healed up and seemingly several years younger. Having been a witness to the healing experiences of mineral water, I stand behind the healing properties of mineral spring water.
Night time bottle hunting might be really cool! Also... kinda dangerous. Better bring duck-man. ;)
Uranium salt, magnesium and lead make glass glow! You weren't wrong my friend. Love your videos!
Manganese glows yellow and uranium salt glows green.
Thank you for the video. I really enjoyed this history. Hopefully in the summer time you will be back digging amethyst. Until then stay safe. Don't forget to wash your hands. 😎🙃
Very cool video man nice finds and the glowing bottles are awesome. Keep it up man. Glad to see you safe.
Very Cool finds...
Beautiful Springs...Love the Uranium Glowing bottles...🙂
Thank you Dawn! This was a fun day of exploring!
hey Kyle that was a fun video to watch
Also enjoyed watching the part on the springs and looking at the glass at the very end fascinating
As always looking forward to the next one and please stay safe
Thanks for the field trip! We have a famous spring here where I live also.
Thank you for sharing. Had no idea about the glowing bottles .... cool!!
Chill tonic, because everyone needs more chill!
Great video Kyle. Stay safe and stay healthy. Cheers Kylie
Super beautiful nature🌿 have collected a number of vintage bottles for many years~ have a couple purple & greens too👍 Great finds😉
Thanks for watching Lisa! Sounds like you have some cool stuff! Stay safe and healthy ☺️
Absolutely love seeing local places in your videos. Keep up all the good work! 👍🏻😊
My state just got hit with the shelter in place, one of the worst fates for a bottle hunter. Stay safe, great video!
Awesome video!! That place is crazy awesome! Thank u sir for sharing during these hectic days that we're all goin through. It was much needed. Stay safe and stay healthy.
Thanks for watching Joshua! Glad you enjoyed it. It's definitely hectic out there. Stay healthy my friend!
Those clovers that you thought were beautiful you can eat those they're pretty good snack while you're out hunting at least I think so
Kyle you're so lucky with all the finds. love your bottle hunting videos I thought I was the only one who searched for them. I've been searching for a long time now for a cocacola bottle from the 50s and I haven't gotten any luck except for a busted one that doesn't have a date. im guessing its from the late 50s since ive seen your videos. hope your safe and doing well during this time and I cant wait for more videos! :)
Thank you so much! Glad you love the bottle videos. I really love looking for them! That's awesome that you love looking for bottles too. I have a couple bottle videos coming soon :)
I never knew about the bottles!! Awesome I love getting to hear about history!! Thank you!! Stay healthy as well!!!
That Grove’s medicine bottle is from the 1890’s. I happened to find one whilst metal detecting. Nice finds!
Awesome video! ❤️ stay safe and healthy
Thank you very much Cherie! You as well!
Loved this video, Kyle! Nice bottle finds. I was interested in the Hood Chemical Company you mentioned...someone has a similar bottle on Ebay for $18. The green glowing bottles are so cool! I never knew about the uranium additive. Thanks for educating us. I love history and geography. The bathhouse/spring tour...great! I love that one of the descriptive statements was, "can cure gout and marital problems!" 🤗 Stay safe and healthy!
Glad you enjoyed the video Rose! It was definitely fun to film. I love getting out to explore! Hope you're staying safe and healthy during all this too!
Great video bro!!! That old bath house is fascinating. I never knew there was those out there. I definitely need to study up on some of my Florida history. Good stuff. Stay safe Brother!!! 🤙
Awesome video Kyle, thank you.
Kyle I think I have seen somebody magnet fish that river before! Also I am from the uk search up a place called flamborough that I live near to ! Looks a lot like the limestone you were on about😊👍
Great channel buddy and loved the video. I found you from your friends Chris channel. Keep find history
The bath house is amazing! Is the water warm, I didn't see steam. I love all the healing claims, especially for marital problems. O.o
Cool couple of finds, to bad that little Spring didn't cure the Coronavirus like everything else it cured haha. Neat with the bottles, have seen old wine glasses etc in antique/thrift stores with uranium. Fun vid/adventure. 👊
I would love to see a vid on how you do research for an area! I'm in Eastern NC and feel like there are dozens of places to goo hunt, but don't know where to start!
Great video Kyle!
Love these videos keep it up man!!!!
Yes do some nighttime bottle hunting.
Love your posts. If you need some material, make a post of some of your songs. I think a lot of us subscribers would enjoy it. Be smart, stay safe.
I think I definitely will give that a shot ☺️ I'm glad y'all would be interested in that!
Stay safe. From Australia.
Loved it! Thanks.
Nice finds
I subbed, loved the vids. That's wild, I love uranium glass but never knew it was used in bottles like that. I checked my bottles, no glowers.
Cool stay safe thank you
Technically speaking those weren’t clovers, but wood sorrel. They’re actually edible and have a delightfully refreshing tanginess to them. It used to grow in my aunt’s backyard in Arizona and I loved to pick and eat it.
Holy shirt I know I literally just left a comment but that ruin is SO cool! I am obsessed with ruins! I'm feeling a Mighty Need to do photoshoots in there holy crab! Is there any way you could help me teleport over there? Oh my god I was about to comment this and then you said abaNDONED BRIDGE?!!! THAT IS SO FORKING COOL!
Nice video! 😍
Uranium can be in any colour glass from green to blue to amber to Burmese . Manganese glow is a dull flat glow , in my opinion your bottles are uranium ! BTW I have milk glass that contains uranium there for glows green under UV light .I really wish I could post a picture for you
Great video
Thanks so much for watching!
@@WILDKYLE oh, apparently my dad plays music with you sometimes
Absolutely do night hunts
Pracice social distance and wear a mask stay safe ✨
You should do more historical videos. ✌❤☺🙏
I plan on it for sure!
Gotta know, what river is that? The spring and the wall around it is so beautiful!
Sorry, Swannee!!
(sp?)
That’s awesome
Stay safe, I am in one of the world's most violent countries but that makes it interesting, I guess....hahaha
Stay safe Jeff! Hope all of this is over soon 😔
That’s no clover (4:24) that is wood sorrel. The one we have in Sweden is good to eat. Have a sour taste. They pick it and sell to gourmet restaurants all over Europe.
I have a good few pieces of uranium glass. I put it out at Halloween!
Do you want to sell any of them.
Soooo treasure dive that spring please
You said you researched the area beforehand what do you look for to decide if a area is worth looking for bottles
I have an old bottle female regulator was mostly alcohol was the main ingredient.
Is that a hot spring?
Anything in particular you do to research a creek? Library or just a good google?
Kewl beanz
Beautiful place.where is that
Glass dated prior to 1918 did not have uranium in it, it had maganese. Vaseline green depression glass had uranium.
Yeah I had to correct that in the description shortly after I posted the video!
Might be a dump question but why is there so many bottle/ glass in the creek?
Creeks were unfortunately used as trash dumps a lot back in the day. People still trash them today too unfortunately. 😔
WILDKYLE damn :/ great video !
Why weren't you on brave wilderness's episode here?
What kind of light are you using? Thanks.
The best light for Long Wave UV for looking for fluorescent glassware is 365 nanometer wavelength, don't try 385-95 nm as the response is not so good.
How much are those bottles you find worth???
Now I see the newspaper.nevermind .cool
last febuwary it was -40 in minnesota and ibought one of your fossels cant wate to get it it says it should be here on the 25
I thought it was uranium and in the bottles that would turn purple they had manganese. That is what I was taught years ago.
only if they are in the desert and exposed to long periods of sun, then they turn purple from the contained Manganese
WHY would uranium be put in glass⁉️😱💥
Uranium oxide was used to color the glass to give it a slight yellow/green hue and glows green under UV light. Manganese oxide was also used to give glass a slight purple hue in sunlight and glows yellow in UV light. Very little of either was used in the glass making process. The Uranium glass is slightly radioactive, but only slightly. I would not keep in in close contact for extended periods of time.
I know of 2 places that are filled with nothing but old bottles n glass cookware
4:30 oxalis
My creek only has modern trash :()

Wooooo!

Are you on instagram sir ?
Excuse me, yesterday Cris posted a video just as I was thinking of him, and today you do the same? That is weird dude. Are we all sharing a brain cell here or something?
SAME THING HAPPENED HERE!!
@@monkeysify Oh dear.. we're all sharing the same brain cell..! What will we do?!!!
That's twisted
Great video Kyle. That’s so cool that they glow in the dark. I hope you guys are staying healthy and safe right now!
