Tom Connors, yes may he Rest In Peace... Loved him and our great Country...He was the real deal...When a pill will not fix you one of Tom's songs will...
Thanks for that, Rex. I am proud to be a Tom Connors fan and his life, patriotism, and music touched the hearts and minds of millions of Canadians. One hell of a guy. Thanks for everything, Tom. It was one hell of a ride. Tom Connors, may he Rest In Peace.
just wanted to say I'm a Canadian that worked in the high desert in Wyoming, and while in a small town little tiny bar a bunch of cowboys listen to my cassette tape of Stompin Tom who they had never heard of before, honest-to-god within minutes they were all laughing and loving his music and find me beer! they made me promise to send the little bar a cassette tape of his music from Canada and when I did I received letters of thank you from Wyoming. I guess that just goes to show his music is not
Good day. Gone, but won't be forgotten, as His songs "live on". Here's hoping *but not at all convinced* that someday another Canadian will come on the music scene & write about this great land & history/people of ours......if not, we still can look back to the Stompin Tom legacy.
Now, how do we, as simple Canadians go on to honor the man we all know and love? Why, of course, raise the Maple Leaf high and proudly on July 1. Fly it for all to see, to exclaim, quietly of course thank you very much, that we know what Tom knew, that this is a great country, that we are truly proud to live here, and will be forever grateful for Tom, a man that showed us how to get it done.
RIP Rex Murphy. Here is Rex Murphy speaking about Stompin Tom. Rex Murphy was as much for CBC as Bob Cole was to Hockey Night In Canada. RIP Rex Murphy. CBC, our national TV network from coast to coast to coast, that represents and tells about Canada to all Canadians and beyond , has lost another icon. RIP Rex Murphy. Very nice words about Stomnpin Tom here.

Sadly the CBC mistreated Tom in a very bad way .. The CBC is in the back pocket of the Liberal Party .. The Liberals had no use for Tom and they made sure the CBC ignore him for the most part .. The CBC is a front for the Liberal Party .. The Liberal Party that hates anyone like Stompin' Tom sad to say .. The CBC and the Liberals can kiss my ass !!!
like most millennial, most of my heros and role models are movie heros- oddball from kellys heros, sirius black albus dumbledore and remus lupin from harry potter, han solo and chewy both from starwars, gandalf from the lord of the rings. all of these fiction characters where portrayed as selfless, caring, honorable, and honest which are the values i respect the most, aswell as all having a certain roguish attitude to which i am partial. but as for real people theres not many that i look up to because my experience in life is that most real people are false, vain, easily corrupted if theres any benifeit for them to do so, dishonest, untrustworthy. fake people and pretenders. in all honesty i dont blame people for this, they're products of the world we live in which puts far more value on appearance then on reality, treating reality as something that can be changed at will to ones desires in order to meet someones needs at the moment then changed again when those needs change. this is not the reality of reality but we've (my generation) has been conditioned to believe so. but i do hold 4 real people in highest regard, idolize them, look up to them, and use them to guide my own reality- Nikola tesla, my father, my old boss and now close friend, and stompin tom connors. these men are also selfless, caring, honorable, honest, trustworthy, and are all fine examples of what truly good people, through and through not just on the outsides, look like and act like. i realy wish i had the opportunity to meet you stompin tom but you where gone before i realized you where a person worth looking up to. i guess in a way i have gotten a glimpse of you in my self, though you never knew me you have helped shape who i am. see you on the other side when i get there man, i wanna shake your hand.

Our taxpayer-funded CBC doesn't allow comments, so many thanks for posting this.

Stompin' Tom was a true Canadian. He was real and he was honest, just loved the man
Bless your heart Tom. RIP.
The books by and about Tom are a fun read.
We do have some great singers who follow in his footsteps already. JP Cormier and Dave Gunning come to mind; not to forget the late great Stan Rogers.

the torch went out when connors left.
I hate to say but i expected Rex to belittle Tom as is his way but this was a pleasant surprise!
why in the world would you think that
Tom must be rolling in his grave with how divided Canada has become
I don't think any songwriter in Canada has taken the torch . Nobody else writres songs about Canada but all of Tom's were about Canada

bonne nuit Stompin Tom Du Frenchie de Sudbury
As is his way?? Why on earth would you expect Rex to 'belittle' Stompin' Tom, or anyone else who didn't deserve it?
Play stompin Tom to trudeau he would burst into flames.
