    Ok, for anyone interested, I think one should draw a rectangle, from eg. upper left corner of the paper to the lower right corner of the paper, it is doable, one can get perfect accuracy of the dimensions of the rectangle in relation to the paper dimensions (open page setup manager to check for type and dims of paper and cross check with measuregeom of the construed rectangle). I think that our friend in this channel uses the aforementioned method, and it is quite interesting and helpful a method. Thanks for the inspiration !

    the Command CHSPACE was working wonders just yesterday. Now when I try and do it it keeps giving me a prompt to "Set the TARGET viewport active and press ENTER to continue.:" What does this mean? I know your time is valuable and I thank you for any assistance you can provide.

    • @Cadintentions
      @Cadintentions  5 місяців тому

      When you get that prompt, simply click inside the viewport you'd like the object to change spaces with, typically the prompt will come up when you have more than one viewport, but you can also just hit enter and it will typically default to the correct viewport.

    Excellent one! here, In previous AutoCAD Architecture Version I can draw above the viewport on paper space, now I can't do that... is there any setting or command to draw on top of that viewport? like what I am doing before, after finished with my 3d, on paper space I need to put some label, materials and other. It shows only the portion of outside viewport.

    Thanks for video. Followed your steps on video. We did confirm our paper is 24x36. In model space, we did scale everything 1:1. The property is approx. 300'x300'. We were able to highlight viewport. When we right clicked we opened properties . However, under Misc, we set annotations of 1"=1". Under standard scale, we had to use 1"=250' for the property to appear in the viewport and somewhat fill the space. When we print in paper space 1"=20' matches our scale. But we had to set standard scale to 1'=250'. What are we doing wrong????

    I just only know the basics of autocad and..
    Is it ok to scale only in layout(viewports) but not in model.

    • @AwesomeAndrew
      @AwesomeAndrew 9 років тому +1

      generally you scale in paperspace viewports. This is so the drawing in model space is always drawn at 1:1 scale. In the old days of AutoCAD, before paperspace was around, CAD users would often select the lines they wanted to scale in the model space, then use the scale command to set them to the correct scale for plotting. It was terrible. If you had to make changes, you would often need to re-scale the linework you scaled back to 1:1 to make it easy to make changes, then re-scale it back for plotting again.

    I have a question. I drew a cross section of a road in 1 to 1 scale. 1 unit in autocad represents 1 meter. In my layout I changed my page setup to A1 piece of paper and a drew a viewport of similar size, but when I set my scale to 1:100 my cross section is super small. What did I do wrong ? Maybe it's, because when I type units command it shows millimeters ? I changed it to meters, but it's still the same. Got any tips ?

    Thanks for that video on How To Scale Viewport , I am working with a civil scale 1" = 20' /40' /60' so in my model space I am in unless measure, now when I go to paper space I create my viewport an make the (scale 1" = 20') I have a roadway alignment sta. at 100" intervals now. Once the drawing has printed I lay a 20 scale on it, it measures a 100' as 2' on the 20scale eng. Please can you tell me where I am going wrong ???? any assistant would really help Thanks

    Hi Brandon, thank you for helpful videos. I have a question. How can I have viewport scale for different views of the model fitting in viewport frame ? For example, I insert three different views of the model and set scale for each view, but when I do, it either magnifies in to the model, or minimizes the model. It also changes the size of viewport that I need to resize the viewport. Help..!@

      Melina Brown yes, just change the viewport scale, you can find it at the bottom part, but it depends on how you plot, is it by copying the file then paste to paper , or by viewport.be sure to change your desired units in model space, -dwgunits

      if you mean lock the viewport, select the viewport, right mouse click, scroll down the menu that opens and goto 'Display Locked' on the menu then left click Yes. That will lock the viewport so that it can't be accidentally panned or scaled/zoomed if clicked inside of.
