This was a great video! I love that you said Montessori is a parenting style. People often forget this. New sub here!

Thank you for this video! I’m trying to implement true Montessori In our lives and don’t want to just buy pretty “Montessori” toys I see at stores. I think a huge problem lately is more and more influencers choosing Montessori but not actually implementing the style into their lives, giving their viewers an inaccurate representation of the style... looking forward to more content from you!

Thank you! I agree with all of that. We definitely love the beautiful toys and setups and have more open ended toys too, but I try to stick to the Montessori basics as much as possible, which the toys are the least important part of anyway.

Super informative! As the Montessori method becomes more popular it's so important to talk about this stuff.

This video needs more likes! Thank you for highlighting this because "Montessori toys" out there are so overwhelming.

Thank you! Yes, the Montessori label is everywhere right now without most taking the time to know what it actually means, and that most of the toys with that label are not actually Montessori!

Thank you for this great video! My cousin just had a baby not too long ago and told me that they wanted to follow a montessori style of teaching their little girl. I have wanted to crochet some toys that fit this style and it's been difficult coming up with any patterns specifically labelled montessori. Thank you for helping me understand the concept! You have given me so many ideas!

That is awesome! I purchased some handmade sensory crochet balls on Esty that we loved if that helps! Each one had a different rattle sound sewn in. Personally though, I would be happy and thankful for anything handmade so I'm sure they will love whatever you choose!

I think I was a innately a Montessori kid because I liked to create things with cardboard and things I found rather than with toys/tv/computer.

Montessori is not actually a parenting method - it is an educational approach. First formed as a way to “teach” children as a schooling method. Montessori has recently been adapted to fit into homes. The Grimms rainbow stacker is not “technically” Montessori as it is a Waldorf-method based toy. However it is an open ended toy which fits Maria Montessori’s suggestions for kids and definitely holds a place in a Montessori based home for children to explore and imagine. Great video! And beautiful family 😊

I'm familiar with the background of the Montessori method. I'd argue that ANYTHING can be a parenting method as by definition, you can adopt any teaching to inspire how you parent.

Thank you for this very informative and straight forward video! I love this.. I always played outside with things provided by nature as a kid, and now, i think for myself. I don't want to raise a passive, lazy child, either!

First of all Montessori doesn’t include toys at all. So that’s wrong right off. Any material created by Maria was a work and our children do not “play”. For it to be Montessori it should have error or control, intention and be self correcting. Also the materials have extensions. Montessori verbiage doesn’t include the words toys and playing. Just because toys are wooden doesn’t make it Montessori. These videos slapping Montessori in the title really piss me off and grows misconceptions about what trained teachers actually do.

Notice how my channel is all about MONTESSORI AT HOME, and that will always look different than what would be taught in a Montessori school. I say "toys" because I am a mom and choose to say that word, I never claimed to be a teacher. There is nothing wrong with parents wanting to adopt Montessori practices in whatever way they choose, it doesn't have to be all or nothing. Your comment confuses with me because if anything, this video is agreeing with you. I'm trying to show parents that toy companies falsely advertise toys as "Montessori" as a selling point. No, none of these toys are traditional Montessori materials, but yes there are toys that are Montessori ALIGNED.

It's fun to see a comment of someone going online to copy and paste some definition of what something should be. First off, the concept of the video is basically agreeing with you so???? She stated that to many companies and even people slap Montessori on everything. The purpose of the video is to educate that not all things that are simply wooden or natural are Montessori and to avoid being fooled by the branding of this and they will be marked up in price.
Secondly, are you a trained teacher of 10+ years or something? If you were then you wouldn't be offended but rather inspired that someone is out there promoting Montessori for a good reason and not just trying to make a quick dime. She doesn't have 100k subs.... so she took time out of her day to simply inform people of something she is passionate about!
The line "Just because toys are wooden doesn’t make it Montessori." is literally what the video is about and agrees with you so once again some confusion here....
You calling them works and someone else toys or play is a wording choice. It's the difference between school and home but what you fail to realize is it doesn't matter because the bottom line is we want more people to follow Montessori and it's better to do so with slightly different wording rather then not follow it at all don't you think?
Would you rather in mass more people follow this structure because the word "Toy" is more widely accepted than "Work" I think the creators of the style would be extremely happy if that was all that had to change for this concept to be widely accepted and performed.
And Lastly, "These videos slapping Montessori in the title really piss me off and grows misconceptions about what trained teachers actually do." MANY MORE VIDEOS OTHER THAN THIS ONE ARE WAY MORE OFFENSIVE AND SIMPLY ABOUT A CLICK BAIT TITLE FOR MONEY. GO BOTHER THEM....
The fact that you are this upset about something you have no control over is confusing. Did you even watch the video or just see the title? Have you even watched the channel or just make assumptions. If you are a teacher than that is amazing and by all means constructive comments are great but make them constructive... Also if you are a teacher and get this upset maybe you shouldn't be one?
If your not a teacher or these types of videos upset you this much you can kindly just not watch these types of videos. No one forced you to do so or come in here and comment. There have been many Montessori teachers that have come to this channel and sang nothing but praises that she is spreading this information and not one was this upset, including myself.
So for my many years of service with Montessori I want to say thank you to her for spreading any kind of awareness to it.
