- This is Jonas Magnin´s beautiful Monster, a quite rare Honda Civic FD2 originally built for European Touring Car Racing. Powered by a dry-sumped Naturally Aspirated K20 Engine unit capable of 285Hp/9.000Rpm and weighing 1010Kg, this machine prepared by Rikli Motorsport stands as one of the most efficient FWD cars in European Hillclimb Racing.

Hi Jonas, awesome setup. would like to ask you about the front bumper; it looks like INGS yet the edges/corners are filled out and it doesnt have that gaudy lip. Is it a custom piece?
Thanks :-) Yes, it's a custom carbon bumper that has been developed in a wind tunnel.

Yea no body roll. Its well planted. Its like no lateral G's acting on it
Less body roll is achieved with thicker sway-bars, not just harder springs and shocks

Yes, and if you think hard about it, FWD cars with more weight on the rear (like this FD) are much more stable
I talked about to make a perfect fun car.😉 Fr car are funnier to drive than ff car. That's a fact.
@@ZDEVIL74 Nah, not really, it depends. It's not a "fAcT" lol, this car is much more fun to drive than something like the old Charger, which is FR and a straight line only boat.

His steering inputs are intentionally slow (in rotation) BUT with dialed in accuracy, never turning in too much and having to constantly correct (Like I have seen so many times in other racing videos). No abrupt maneuvers ever. This guy is a proper demonstration of what confidence and experience put together, looks like. AWESOME... Oh, and I LOVE the car.
285 hp doesn’t sound like much but hot DAMN that thing is RAPID

Got less then 240 in mine and you need 400whp to stand a chance
Also, power to weight and the sequential setup made it even better
It weighs like 900 kg, so it’s pretty quick
You dont need 400hp to race on a small road like this. 285hp is fast enough

How those tyres are putting the power down and taking those corners is just phenomenal. Total tyre contact patch is less than four pieces of A4 paper and look at the results..... Incredible.
That engine sounds so happy at high revs.

Roger J Its so custom, that it doesn't matter what it was stock. But the Type R has a K20 too, so it most likely was a type R.
well I need to correct you, Civic Type R (FD2/FN2, 2007-2010) the fd2 (JDM) was the counterpart to the fn2 (EDM)
John Nitrous it's probably a fully built up race car based on a FD. I too thought it was a coupe at first but later saw the rear door handles from the close ups. The JDM FD2 Type R's only come in the 4 door sedan. This is a fully built race engine and maybe does not even have VTEC cams; definitely no VTC. But it runs really sweet!
The performance of the suspension and the tires is really amazing!
I always believed in hp is just numbers , and here's a concrete proof to it. So much power and accelerations in each gear and yet, such stability and nimbleness at such speed

@lscansir cured 8400 before valve float. But if you spend a bit you can upgrade valvetrain and oil pump 9k all day.

Such an excellent chassis for the K20, no wonder the FD2R was the fastest type R until the turbo model came out. Sadly it was sold in Japan and Malaysia only.
No wonder I've seen so many malaysian street racing vids with FD2Rs.
