I'm making one right now (already made the "pouch", now I'm on the flap) and I just had to stop and tell you this is one the best tutorials on UA-cam. Very clear instructions, the speed is perfect, not too fast, not too slow, you skip exactly what you need to skip and do on camera exactly what you need to do on camera. Your voice is nice and clear and the angle you shoot is perfect too, with good lighting. I'm definitely checking your other tutorials and I hope you keep them coming! Thanks for posting!
Thank you so much, Nielly! I really appreciate your support and I'm so happy you like my tutorial! It's so heartwarming and motivating to get such positive feedback! Thanks again! I regularly publish new crochet tutorials and I hope you find more exciting projects among them! Happy crocheting! 😍
I know Im asking randomly but does any of you know of a tool to get back into an instagram account?? I was stupid lost my password. I would appreciate any help you can offer me!
@Leonard Rodney i really appreciate your reply. I found the site thru google and I'm in the hacking process atm. Looks like it's gonna take a while so I will reply here later with my results.
Love this pattern thank you! Mine turned out just like yours. Very clear on how to make it. The only thing was the 30 inches for the strings, but I read in the comments it’s 30 cm. Can’t wait to make more for handmade gifts ☺️
After a LONG search for the correct link for this pattern, I finally found your VIDEO! I was so happy to find a video, because I really learn best visually. Thanks for making these and for sharing your pattern with us!!! Oh, also, those mini vintage-look buttons are SO cute!!!!
Thank you so much for your kind feedback! It's so good to hear my tutorial was helpful to you! I love these minibags too, they make a lovely gift! Happy crocheting!
Making one rn and its soo cuuuttee and love the fact that u also had the writen pattern in the desc box, with bot of these the patern was super easy to follow and i love the result
I've been crocheting for a few months and this is the first thing I made with the magic circle/ring. I found it fairly easy! The part where you said 17 rows was a little less clear to me (I'm autistic, I took it a bit more as **add** 17 rows not 17 rows **total**) but was easy enough to follow overall. Will make a few more for practice!
Hi Margaret, thank you!! I hope my tutorial is helpful to you to practice the magic ring. I loved it when I discovered it, so I'm happy to share! 💕 Please let me know if you have any questions about it, I'm here to help! Have fun!!
I’m new to your channel. Can’t seem to find any good tutorials for this type of mini bag. Glad I found this! My granddaughter wants one of these. Thank you!
I'm so happy to hear that you like my backpack tutorial! Welcome to my crochet channel! Have fun with this project. You're granddaughter will love the mini backpack! ❤
Thank you, Elaine! I was curious myself how the bigger bag would look so I started working on it with the same DMC denim brown yarn. I will post a picture once it's done! :)
I am so much obsessed with this backpack that I had made it one with pink wool and I'm making another with a blue crochet thread.... Totally loving it 😍🥰😘😇thanks for the pattern 😇😊☺
Do you always crochet in both loops not back loop crochet to go up on the bag? You do not go over it or not just only say SC for 17 rows beyond that it seems like a great tutorial
Hi Rachel, yes I always crochet through both loops. Sc through back loops would create a very different look, I don't use it on my mini backpack. Happy crocheting!
you can just apply the same pattern with double strand yarn or just extend the base part of the pattern by keeping increasing until you get the base size you require for you bag. :)
WOW people are SO ungrateful and demanding!!!! Asking what row this or that went on, when she's already shown everything SUPER clearly. Asking for a full size backpack pattern!!! The NERVE!!!🤦🏼♀️🤦🏼♀️🤦🏼♀️ Asking what size yarn (she gave two options in the video; Google the stupid yarn and find out what size it is for YOURSELF!!!). Even asking her to speak louder!!!!! Wow... what a world we live in. Maybe just thank her for her wonderful pattern (yes, I know many of you did😉👍), and be grateful for it.
Very nice video. I have subscribed your channel. Very clear instructions and the video is not fast, that's why I loved to see your video. Thanks for sharing it. You are a great teacher. Can you make a bigger one as I want to make it for myself. I am going to make the small ones too.

Hi, you will be pleased to know that I have made one miniature backpack for myself and it turned put perfectly cute. Now I am going to make a big one too.
Mary J Handmade in her original idea have tutorial in three different languages ! Spanish, Italian and English ... Is amazing how is so popular now!! Is so cute!
Handmadebyraine Thank you for sharing!! Would like to know, if am using thinner thread, how many stitches should I put in the magic ring? Once again, thanks for sharing!!!!
Thank you, Adelia! I would follow the same pattern and stitch count with smaller size thread. I also have a tutorial for smaller backpack, it's modified from this one to fit the Barbie doll ua-cam.com/video/axZPRooT1RA/v-deo.html
Thank you, Raymond! Definitely try this with bigger hook and thicker yarn! Check out my red and pink mini backpacks and please post the photo of you bag here: www.pinterest.com/pin/719942690408288838/
handmadebyraine Thanks so much for your reply! Sorry for replying late, I didn’t have time for crochet until now and forgot about this. Now I’m ordering the buttons online according to the size you’ve given me and hopefully will start the project soon! Thanks and happy crocheting!
raine thanks maybe i should criss cross them like ya do as im doing straps straight and i have watched your video many times and do understand it just that straps dont look right when ya close it do you sew straps when ya have it tied up or opened and maybe i should criss cross them like ya do your video is very good as ya explain good etc
@Florence Ann Minimo you can put the remaining strands in a sewing needle and weave them through a row to hide them, and cut off any extra sticking out. Just make sure you weave back one way, then forth the other so it’s secure.
No worries! It's actually good to point it out as a reminder. I wish I could correct and update the video but I can't. So I totally appreciate friendly feedback and notes like that! Thank you!
I couldn't make circle shape 5-17 just like you.. i did single cr.. line 5th to 17.. is there any trick to do these round.. my each line increased.. reply
I use marker (or safety pin) to show the beginning of the round and then I count my stitches on each round to make sure I always have the same number. I hope this helps!
So did you continue in the Round from Row 2 to 3 because you don’t show or say how you ended the rounds at all and it’s not zoomed in to see These are really cute and adorable but I don’t want to mess up the base
Hi Shelley, I just updated my written pattern. I am more used to ending a round with slip stitch into the beginning st and then starting the new round with 1 ch. But it can be done in amigurumi style as well, in spiral rounds using the stitch marker to keep track. I hope this helps! :)
I have a question for 5:28, the time skip. After finishing the base, you now do 3 single crochets, then on the 4th one it’s a double? Then for the next row, the double is the 5th one?
RAINE MY BAG COMES OUT GOOD BUT THE ROUND WITH THE STRING HOLES COUNT ONLY COMES OUT TO 24 AND HOW DO YOU TELL WHERE THE 8 STRING HOLES ARE WHEN YOU GO TO PUT STRING IN OTHERWISE EVERYTHING IS COMING OUT RIGHT THANKS
hi there i am working on the flap i am having problems with the last row of the flap when she does the 6 slip stitches is she going into the same hole for the slip stitch or is she going into the next stitch just need to know i have watched this video and i cant tell pls let me know thanks
Hi Karen, when you say "into the same hole for the slip stitch", do you mean when I start the 6 slip stitches? If yes, then I start in the next stitch, not the same where I did last sc. I hope this helps! Let me know if you have more questions.
Hello. I guess I’m old fashioned. I cannot get the magic done. Im having trouble starting with it. So I’d want to use the old way:, how many chains should I start with and which chain should I start from the hook, then go from there? Thanks!
shannon schmidhammer Hi Shannon! You can definitely start the other way. I just tried with my DMC yarn and made 4 chains, then joined it with a slip stitch to form a ring, and then you can sc 8 in the ring and continue with the pattern. I hope that helps! Please let me know if I can be of more help!
For the strap to go around, I find that 20 inches is just much too long, but yours in the video does not seem to be that long. Are you sure it shouldn't be 20 cm instead? Otherwise, great tutorial :)
Hi Evanna, thank you so much for your feedback! You are absolutely right! I meant 30/20 cm, not inches. In my home country we use centimeters, so I must have got confused. Thank you so much for noticing this, I added correction note to my video (unfortunately I can't edit the video) and corrected the measures on my website. Much appreciated!!
MADE THIS BACKPACK COMES OT GOOD BUT THE STRAPS NEVER COME OUT RIGHT AND I UNDERSTAND YOUR DIRECTIONS ETC LOOKS LIKE YOU HAVE IT TIED UP WHEN DOING THE BAG BUT IVE DONE BOTH WAYS COULD YA LET ME KNOW HOW YA GET THEM SO PERFECT THANKS
Yes, I tied a knot holding 3 strands together and then braided it, then also tied a knot when I finished braiding. Not sure if this answers your question.

Hi Silvia, I have a smaller backpack tutorial here: handmadebyraine.com/barbie-backpack/

not sure how long she means but not 3x30 inches surely. That would be really long. I think she meant 3 strands of 30cm maybe.

Hi Shelley, I just updated my written pattern. I am more used to ending a round with slip stitch into the beginning st and then starting the new round with 1 ch. But it can be done in amigurumi style as well, in spiral rounds using the stitch marker to keep track. I hope this helps! :)

Yes, absolutely! You are welcome to experiment with different sizes of yarn and adding stitches. I experiment a lot like that!
I have a question for 5:28, the time skip. After finishing the base, you now do 3 single crochets, then on the 4th one it’s a double? Then for the next row, the double is the 5th one?
Hi Sadrien, it's only single crochet stitches with the mini backpack.
Very cute! Thank you so much
