I've seen people say, "Oh, that woman was horrible for not eating the third piece of lamb!" My thought is that she's probably read stories of restaurant workers contaminating food, so when this guy with a bad attitude was eagerly looking at her as she prepared to eat, she may have been worried he'd done something to her food. I generally side with restaurant workers, but he was out of line.
While I've never had a boyfriend, I know the kind of person you mean. In their mind, they're right about everything, no matter how blatantly wrong they are. If you dare question them in the slightest way, or even if you don't, they turn into a spirit of wrath. I once knew someone whose version of events was so far removed from reality that it was frightening. I'm very sorry you had to deal with that kind of situation. Actually, it was the Server that told the Cook to microwave it. He should have refused. I think no one who works there gives a *[FIG]* at all.

She didn't want it since she could tell it was microwaved, so I don't think the server lied. He was being vague with the owner, but it's probably because he knew how he would react. That's why he tried to go straight to the chef the first time to have it cooked more.

You also don't have to be part of a microwave company to know that when you put food in a microwave the whole dish gets warm. That's just common sense.

Nononono the customer is not always right, sometimes the customer is a stuck up entitled pos. But in situations where you have not cooked their meat properly and you actually did get their order wrong, you can't get mad at them. This isn't about them always being right. You are right that some customers are entitled. However, no matter how your customer is wrong, you always have to deal with them respectfully and professionally even if they are stuck up and assholes. You have other customers in house and you can't act disrespectfully in front of them. They deserve to have a good time. It's about the long term effect.
Generally speaking, the customer is sometimes wrong. However, just like she specified, in a customer service position the customer IS always right, even if they aren't. That's how it works. It doesn't matter what reality is because reality isn't what customer service operates on. Sorry.

She wanted her meat medium rare, it was nowhere near it.
They threw it in the microwave, she knew because it was so hot inside.
He denied it and then they made her another one, that was probably good, but his attitude stunk and he wanted to watch her cut into it so she simply said she was done and did not want to have anything to eat... Given that she was served the wrong food twice and then the third time his face was in hers watching her eat, she was absolutely in the right and it was he, who was completely out of order... All of the customers also saw what was going on and they applauded when she finally got her meal, because they were all talking about how shitty she was being treated.
Any reasonable person would never have treated the customer like a piece of shit.

They ask Ramsay because their restaurant isnt doing good because they think their food is good, and they think getting him in their to say their food is good is good publicity and will get more people going in. Because be honest, if Ramsay went to a place near you and said their food is amazing, would you not want to at least go try their food at least once?
The restaurant owners don't ask for Ramsay's help because their food is crap. They ask for his help because they don't know what the problem is with their restaurant. They only know customers are coming in less and less, or that they have debt, etc. They don't know their situation from the perspective of the customer. It just so happens that the restaurant owners are really attached to the food they make and have a hard time believing that the food they've been putting out for years is garbage.

I feel like this moment is peak Kitchen Nightmares. Imagine going into an industry that has such a strong focus on customer service and not only arguing with a customer but being proud of yourself for not assaulting someone because they expect a basic standard of service.
Can we come up with a different phrase that means what "the customer is always right" is supposed to mean? Just, "treat customers with respect, regardless of circumstance", or something similar. The meaning of the phrase is correct, but the literal meaning of "the customer is always right" is at best wishful thinking.
Josiah Wheat I was taught that phrase to the word, at one of my favorite jobs. It makes more sense than "the customer is always right.
Some customers are just rude regardless. If more people stood up to disgusting behaviour regardless if they are a paying customer then we wouldn’t have so many douches inflicting themselves onto others. I’ve been in the service industry 30 years and told plenty to f@&k off and never come back. Cuts both ways
That does make more sense, cause there are also those type of customers who are being assholes and then use "the customer is always right" as an excuse to keep being an asshole. I work as a waiter, and thankfully haven't had one of those customers, but boy have I seen quite a few of them regardless.
