In this clip, Jalen Rose recounted his epic argument with Skip Bayless when the former was still employed at ESPN. Jalen talked about doing research on Skip in the past but not knowing when that information would be deployed. He said that afterward, he felt bad for calling Skip out about his lack of on-court experience in basketball and embarrassing him by pointing out his low high school basketball averages. When Skip said "what were you" to Jalen, he was trying to point out that Jalen was a multi-positional player, but it sounded like he was saying Jalen was a crappy NBA player, and that's what set Jalen off.
That wasn't the case AT ALL. No matter where in the world you use that tone of voice Skip used, that is gonna be a diss.
He was dissing Jalen's skill as a player, basically implying "who the fuck were you when you played?"

Then try to out debate him from there. Skip didn't really know what to do when not only did Jalen not answer that question, but called Skip's playing career on the record into question and was in turn put immediately on the defensive.
