Oh she is so sweet and so perfect for you 😍🤧 also I ADORE that Phil said “Callie you’re being so brave!” Because other parents would’ve said “hey at least you got one dog!! Be grateful 😡” whereas, Callie was just feeling her emotions after a little bonding with Chloe and she was totally allowed to feel those emotions. So beautiful to see that kind of parenting. Validating her slight disappointment, and seeing Kinsley comfort her, and seeing Callie come to terms with leaving without Chloe… you guys are just the best parents. You’ve seriously raised some amazing and compassionate kids in all the right ways 🙏🏼💕

@@Lisa-ve7pu not after your mother say you’ll be able to choose and that little girl believed her Alex miss lead that little girl she is still too little to understand adult tell them something and doing different. Plus she should never show the kids two dogs while knowing which one is going home that’s not right and it’s not right to play with little kids feelings she’s too little she likes animals that could leave some damage in her Head because Little mine works different The whole thing with this adoption choosing was a mess I feel sorry for that little girl and it’s not cute or funny.

@@prowlermn3696 as you can see Callie quickly moved on and it’s very happy with Emily. Everything worked out well. Gentle parenting is not about giving everything to your child in order to avoid tears or sadness. It’s about giving them the tools to progress and regular those emotions through love, validation and compassion. Alex did not mislead either child, a dog was going to be picked and it just so happened Callie was outside that majority. I really don’t think bringing home one dog instead of two has “damaged” anyone, that’s a bit dramatic. But to each their own. Have a great day.

@@Lisa-ve7pu i’m not talking about bringing two dogs Home I am talking about showing them two dogs and let them believe that they could pick one because Alex told them and said this is a dog for whole family but she knew that Philip going to pick the dog that looks exactly like Philip have in college so she miss lead them lie to them Kensley when along with her father because she’s older and she observe her father smiling face and getting close to Emily look like she wants to satisfy her father . I just want to say Alex shouldn’t have two dogs front of those kids And again she knew which ones going home so why she brought the other dog to just break the little girl feelings? For god sake she wasn’t picking up furniture she was thinking that she’s going to have this Lovin Creature.

I love how Callie didn’t ignore Emily just cause she wanted Chloe. She is so precious and being an animal lover you could see she just loved the dogs so much. It’s so sweet that you are adopting an older dog. Most people I think want a puppy because then you get to train them, have them the longest amount of time, and there is years before you have to worry about medical issues. Older dogs need more from their owners and I know Emily is in good loving hands with your family. Also taking your time is way better than jumping too deep too soon so I commend you for doing what feels right. Your teaching your children the balance of patience and doing things smart not just fun. Right/smart timing is such an important life lesson.

Ok you have me in tears... Our daughter whom we adopted from India was petrified of dogs so much so that she wouldn't even visit her best friends house because they had a dog. In 2012 we took her back to her birth country and something must have clicked inside of her and her fear of dogs miraculously disappeared and a month after we came home we got a 5 year old rescue dog. Our dog, Lilly, has been so much more than a pet, she has been such a therapy dog for our daughter. Due to early childhood trauma, neglect and being in an orphanage our daughter has trouble showing emotion and feelings towards people but the dog has allowed her to do that in a "safe" way. Our daughter is now 18 and our Lilly is 14 years old ( and yes a bit of a grumpy old lady at times) but she still gives our daughter a safe place to show feelings and affection. You will not regret your decision to get a dog and I pray that she will be a safe place for your girls too. x

Callie's strength and sacrifice in surrendering her wanting Chloe, but letting Emily be the one y'all chose is so far beyond her years! Her tender heart for animals is amazing. She saw how much Emily needed a kind friend by her side to calm her fears of being in a new environment and chose to put aside what she was wanting to do. She could've responded so differently, but didn't. All of your girls have hearts of gold and are special girls. Y'all are doing amazingly with raising those girls.

I’m so happy for you. We’ve had single dogs and two dogs in 40 years. I’ll always get two dogs here on out. They bond together but they also bond with everyone, it gives them a companion when you’re not there. And we’ve had some wonderful pairs, a Rescue German Shepherd who had been abused and was good with people but terrified of other dogs, I got a Shih Tzu puppy about 6 months after adopting him and you never saw such sweet friends. They loved each other so much but also loved other in our family and we’re fine with others. Our German Shepherd turned into our neighborhoods favorite dog. He was about 6 months when I got him and I did do dog training with him because he was going to be so big, he ended up being 115 pound pure German Shepherd. We currently have a ShihTzu and a rescue poodle. They love each other but also have their favorites of our grandchildren. Prayers for you and your family as you make this next decision. Enjoy the love and all that comes to you with adopting this dog and possibly another. It’s wonderful for kids to have a dog in my opinion. ❤️

Emily was a good choice. She is a very calm dog. A little older, but not too old, so you will have years to enjoy each other. A dog like Chloe would be great in one or two years, when Cassidy is more stable on her feet and is used to a dog. Emily will teach her the way with dogs, so getting both may be worth a try.
You could wait a few weeks, visit Chlor and see if Cassidy is more comfortable with her when she is used to being around dogs

She will be a God sent blessing to your family. God sent our Fluffy to us like this: Grew up in the country. One winter evening my mom was walking a friend out to the car. We lived in the country. They heard what they thought was a baby. They explored across the street and there is a tiny female puppy whimpering. Mom brought it in. She called neighbors and one about 1/4 mile down the street said we have puppies but there’s no way it’s ours. They can’t get out. They checked. It was theirs and she went back home. At about 11pm that night Mom woke up hearing a whimpering. The puppy was trying to get up our stairs to the front porch. That pup had gotten out a second time and came all the way down to our house AGAIN in the cold, dark rainy drizzle. The next morning mom called the neighbor and said the puppy got out again. The neighbor was in shock as she got out through 2 fences each time. So that’s how she came to us. She was a Samoyed/Collie mix. That dog saved us from many a cottonmouth bite as we loved to fish down at the pond. Dogs are like angels watching over us.

Emilie is such a beautiful dog.
We had a labrador from age of 12 wks. He grew up with my kids and was amazing with them. My youngest son was his best friend from baby to about 4 years old. My son, accidently stepped on him and hurt him. From that point on the dog(Dusty) turned on my son, he would viciously growl at him and tried to bite him.
Please be careful with Cassidy, she being so unstable with her walking and not understanding roughness, she could unintentionally hurt Emilie. You mention, Emilie has had many traumas thats really sad

Emily seems like she has such a gentle soul,, and i'm not at all surprised that Callie came around to her so quickly. Even if it's not what she was looking for in the moment of meeting the pups, sometimes animals find their way into our lives to provide something that we don't yet know that we need, and maybe both Emily and Callie will be able to give something to one another in their own special way. There's really something incredible about having the opportunity to grow up with a dog though, especially when you're giving them a second chance at life, and i'm so glad that your girls get to be a part of that and that Emily has found such a loving home.

I am so excited for your family. I have had animals all my life dog's have always been apart of my 3 daughters lives. From the minute they all came home from the hospital they had a St. Bernard waiting to meet them. Then we moved to a farmhouse that had 3 acres with another 10 acres behind us with a man-made lake between our house and a neighbor who's landlord was the same as ours so we shared it. Could fish anytime take our dogs swimming or just take a picnic lunch over there. There was a picnic table under a tree we had lunch or dinner at least a few times a week in all the months except winter over there. We loved that house we stayed there until they sold it to a huge buyer who built thousands of new houses on it plus many other acres miles down from us. But we sure loved our time there. Our St. Bernard is buried there they didn't destroy that part of the land. I think God protected that area for my girl's she was 12 when she had a stroke in my ex husband's arms he came over to visit at Christmas time she layed down on his lap and died. She had been in perfect health. Was such a shock for our family. We had other dogs after that but our 3 St. Bernard dogs were always our favorites. They had hearts of gold. They were such caring dogs. Every dog is such a gift. Glad you were able to find a sweet addition to your family. I hope you can get the other one too. I think they were best friends that's why she's so sad. If you decide not to get her i would take a blanket and rub the other dogs scent on it then put it in her bed. It will give her a bit of her especially when she goes to sleep. She is such a sweet girl. 😁❤👍 👍 👍 👍 👍 👍 👍

Dear Callie, when I went to get my dog I thought I was getting a girl, I had already picked out the name Phoebe for her. On the way up to see her we found out she had just been sold. Instead I got her brother and named him Timmy. His middle name is Phoenix because it’s similar to Phoebe. Maybe you could make Emily’s middle name Chloe to always remember that you loved Chloe too.

@@tinabloomfield7228 retrievers average life span is 10-12 years. She very well may only have a few years left. She could have 6. Either way, in the big picture that’s not a lot. And of course it is wonderful they gave this angel a home. But I always question the motivation of parents who get their young children a senior animal who may only have a handful of years left, knowing you’ll shortly have to coach then through that emotional heartbreak, and then you’re back to where you started.
Emily deserves a loving home of course, and I’m glad the girls are happy. But they’re probably too young to understand that because of her age, they inevitability only have a just a few years with her.

She reminds me so much of myself when I was a little girl and I would cry over animals getting injured or just anything negative happening to any type of creature.
I am also so incredibly proud of how Callie handled it and how she didn’t let it affect the rest of the day, nor did she let it affect how she saw and treated sweet Emily.
Aw, sweet, sweet Emily! She is so beautiful and I hope so much that she learns to trust all of you so very quickly. I hope she realises just how lucky she is to be a part of your family now.
