These can be used as purse charms, cellphone charms, or embellishments for your junk journals, planners and scrapbook mini albums. To help protect your nails (mine need all the help they can get) I did see one woman use a a plier in her left hand, I believe it was flat inside meaning no ridges. I don’t know the name of it but she held it stable while using her right hand plier to open it.
I don’t know if this helps. I’m watching different videos to learn before I buy anything. New hobbies can be intimidating when you don’t even know the lingo!

I too learned pretty much everything just from watching UA-cam videos along the way, and yes it's a good idea to research before buying since some supplies can add up and sometimes you'll find a makeshift tip that produces similar results.
