absolutely, this is why trade schools exist. and common sense, and critical thinking. schools teach you WHAT to think, instead of HOW to think.
Don't know which university you went to. I studied at the university and had no time for any nonsense. So did my peers. It is a place where you learn if you choose not to waste your time. And for many, they don't have any time to waste.
My Dad was an old Hippie and he didn't even send me to school. My homeschooling was sufficient for me to get a highschool diploma. I spent all my life in the mountains and I have a business selling wild mushrooms and I'm a general contractor and I do ten times better then any of my friends who want through "college". That was a big thing in the 90s was all of the kids going to college going into debt. It's way worse now.

University is for people who need a piece of paper to prove how smart they are.
Unfortunately education is a poor measure of intelligence for most. Toilet paper would be just as valuable.

You kinda need university somehow in order to be accepted by the majority talking about certain subjects unless ur an extremely rich resourceful person outside economic ressources. Its kinda also hard to prove educated people wrong if ur not educated urself. Its a needed relation for academic persons in order to socialize. The current universities are pretty female dominated, i dont understand how we aren't discussing quotas for universities for both men and women. Not only that but cultural & socially accepted stereotypic backgrounds somehow have a bigger advantage than ur academic knowledge weirdly enough.

When I went to university in the 90s I, and my contemporaries, learnt skills we needed to get ourselves in to our chosen careers. We didn't engage with any political stuff, we just learnt our subjects and went our partying on the weekends (and in the week too if we could get away with it). A lot has happened since then... mostly for the worse.
You didn’t learn how to write basic English, though. It’s LEARNED, not we “learnt”. And into is one word, not two. I’m not sure you went “to university” because no college educated person says, “we learnt our ‘subjects’”. No one in a university says, “I, and my contemporaries, learnt ‘skills’…” because one does go to a university to learn skills. But ten people liked your comment which shows that most aren’t very analytical.

1) Watch tuition plummet
2) Watch the social parasites leave the industry
3) Merit based pay for teachers whereas they are responsible for student progress

I wanted to go to college so bad, but its too expensive and it's not about actually learning anymore than it's about indoctrination from eccentric instructors with too much time on their hands. I just wish there were other alternatives other than the trades.

I am a non trad grad 2019 you are speaking the truth. In 2019 every class I was preached at on how bad old white mean are and how all are guilty of henious crimes. I could parle on this forever.
This will render university degrees meaningless. Employers will not be able to choose a talented applicant based on qualifications.
Universities should start grading on a curve again and that you get the real numbers of who is who in your classroom. If everyone is getting A’s, there’s something wrong with the professor or the students are cheating. Even Ivy League students are not always the smartest.
Ivy league? What a joke. This is where the wealthy political class comes from and you see the mess this country is in because of politics. They tend to be greedy psychopaths who have destroyed this once great country.
I watched an economist say a university student needs to have a part time job that earns $125 per hour to not be affected by student loans.
Then they should not sign on the dotted line. The best ways to combat these predatory systems such as the student loan system is to stop going along with them. Not to just make valid legal contracts void by saying people don't have to pay. Student loans are now over 4% of national GDP. You cannot just pull the rug out from under that without dire economical consequences. Read the merchant of Venice, it has been a favorite of mine since childhood
I used to work at Harvard, doing classroom media support.
One psychology professor was doing a lesson on "diversity" and somehow omitted social class.
I had to mention it to him after the class, even though every nerve in my body was telling me I shouldn't do it.
The professor was very receptive to my critique, even saying he was from a working-class background himself, an he was shocked that he'd over-looked social-class in his lecture.
I was not invited back to work there the next semester...I'm not sure if there was a connection or not...😆😆😆

I had a friend who applied undergrad, who was fourth in his class, however he was from Westchester County, and there were to many applicants from that area.
He was told not to reapply...
However, there is a well known case, where someone who's been rejected, rejected the rejection in writing and was accepted, as a result.

Well Bjorn, you are right on the mark! Here in the UK graduates end up stacking shelves in supermarkets and were never capable and should have pursued apprenticeship’s in industry such as mine ( carpentry& joinery) we need a lifetime of knowledge and are always learning

You can go to many trade schools for free, become qualified within 6 months to a year usually. You as an HVAC or even a painter or caulker can earn more in 10 years with that free or even paid education than someone who spent a few hundred thousand on their Harvard PHD in equity and lesbian interpretative dance will earn in their entire career

“Equity” does not equal the belief that all people have an intrinsic worth regardless of their education, beliefs or life choices. Equity, these days, means that if you go along with the current agenda you are worthwhile; if not - you are a conspiracy theorist and not worth anything at all.
I think equity means all persons regardless of social/racial group or background origin needs to achieve the same outcome / level/status regardless of merit or mental ability. Equity is the dumbing down of society. Everybody gets the same money, accolades and trophy. It is erasing the significance of achievement. Disagreement will get you canceled. My daughter failed to get thru her masters in education because she would not swear allegiance to CRT and DEI. There are gatekeepers only allowing right thinking people into the educational system.

I no longer encourage young people to go to college/university unless they are pursuing an engineering or science degree. People are graduating with degrees in education and business, however, find they are struggling to pay back the student loans despite having a job. We have a shortage of trade occupations which provides a respectable salary. In the past 20 years everyone was encouraged to go to college, but now are so flooded with the new graduates competing for fewer jobs. What used to be entry level clerical jobs (high school level) are now filled by college graduates. Another alternative is to go to a community college, living home and working a part-time job to help with the tuition costs. Also, be aware that some instructors will be pushing their political views onto you. As long as these students are aware of the agenda, they should survive pretty much unscathed.

I battled in IL to get them to open the HS during the lockdown ish - I used to teach Docs / Nurses over 15 yr & I KNOW what is happening is medical tyranny! I rallied the parents at the HS & we petitioned the board - I spoke up & demanded the HS Open Immediately - I got a standing ovation from the parents there as well after speaking BIG Facts 💯🎯💯
We were used as the example for how our entire state of IL could “safely” open up HS - we petitioned the health dept as well. We will NOT Comply 💯

Hubby left his job as a kickboxing coach in Chicago due to the jab / my son rejected Yale & Georgetown University due to radical v mandates. I've been working at a university here in Austria (first in some research positions, and now in administration). It definitely helps that we don't speak English. However, we do have loads of unnecessary equality initiatives here that don't really help, cause I as a woman STILL get old school "stupid" comments from some older men here. One was even surprised that "I am more intelligent" than he thought. No amount of courses and initiatives can change that behaviour and way of thinking. It's only wasting public money and it's downright attacking (young) guys and people who are already listening and adhering. Those who aren't listening won't be affected nor changed by this, anyways. And let's not even start about the lgbt stuff. Two of my best friends are lgbt yet they aren't really in favour of this stuff being pushed so much in the public sector. I think it will swing back sooner than we think - as soon as people will have bigger (economical) worries than that, they'll more and more have zero nerves for this stuff.

The only way this changes is when corporations and large businesses stop hiring and promoting those who graduate from Universities. Government is not likely to to do that as merit almost never applies to their practices. Once a degree has no employment value, people will stop attending. Problem is, more often than not those who hire are using a degree to create a caste system.

I am 21 years old and attending college in the United States. I don’t go to a prestigious school, but I still see this woke stuff everywhere. In the library we have a set of like 15 posters that say “diversity” on them with colorful graphics. I see PLENTY of transgender people, nonbinary people too. I know just by walking around that if I were to express my true opinions I would have like half the school coming after me. It’s sad. I feel like discussions in class are limited because you can’t step out of line with the politically correct culture because there’s the threat of getting in trouble for saying the “wrong” thing.
University is necessary for law, medicine or engineering. Frivolous degrees are a waste of time and money if it doesn't contribute to earning a living or leading a productive life.

You can draw so many parallels between the whole student loan thing and the merchant of Venice. The loan financiers represent Shylock, the students taken advantage of represent Bassanio and the government represents Antonio. Antonio knew that Shylock's contract with Bassanio was evil and immoral, but he also knew what the invalidation of their contract would do to the world's confidence in the entire Venetian system if it were known that a contract could be arbitrarily made invalid. All other Venetian contracts would be called into question.

The request to write an essay regading how you are going to contribute to various issues in inclusion, diversity etc. is now genealized to practically all universities and higher education institutions, both in America and in Europe,not only for students, but also for professors and administrative staff, which selects either for weasels who don't care what they write to achieve their goal or to strange human beings who live in a bad taste science fiction reality, which they think it was written by Marx.

Not just English speakers have gone woke but also Spanish speakers, and that’s probably because they’re exposure to English and other countries and the cultures and they want to fit in and some of them were woke already for years in their own countries that are very liberal.

Woke is the popular name for postmodern philosophy, which was invented mostly by French philosophers (Foucault, Derrida, and others) after WW2 and exported to the US where the French inoculation in the petri dishes of American universities flourished and then escaped into society two generations later.
