Hell. These bad ass Marines are very forunate to have a family graduation day.All I had at my graduation day at Fort Jackson was a hell of a lot yelling and a lot of bad news orders for some troops to be assigned to Vietnam, my heart really went out to them, seriously.I remember the real young troops were asking everone where is Vietnam???"poor bastards! I knew where Vietnam was.My mother must have done some serious praying, my oldest brother and I didn't have to go to Vietnam. Thanks GOD and Mom
Whats his MOS? My sons is 1391 Bulk Fuel Specialist. I think i have to go down and get him next weekend for the 96 hr Labor Day Liberty................n then i get to bring him back too lol
I remember the Moto Run on Thursday AM, then Family Day at 1300. We marched out in our Charlies to the parade deck and had 4 hours with our families. This was back in 96
This kind of thing did not exist when I was at Parris Island. Families were not allowed there until graduation back in 1973. In those days they had a real bad attitude toward families. It's like they had something to hide. Semper Fi to all the Men and Women who graduation from that living HELL. N.Catino USMC 73-77.
My boyfriend is leaving for basic in June. I was wondering if I'd be able to go to the family day. I really want to go with his family to see him graduate, but I know family day is the day before graduation and if I can't go then I won't be able to see him graduate.
haven't decided yet choosing between F/A-18 aviation mechanic or drone pilot plan is to become a fighter pilot btw meps was the most incredibly boring thing i have ever gone through
The Bellcaptain i got my ass kicked by my drill instructors almost everyday for like the first 5 weeks and i got into alot of fights with the guys in my platoon we ended up getting along great but at first shit was awful
fishyc150 which flags? The ones who carry the platoon flags are guides. And the ones who carry the flags and rifles for the national anthem is color guard
Kaden D When the squads run around they usually have one guy at the front carrying a standard/ flag/ pennant... who is he? Whats the flag thing for? Is he a recruit (who take it in turns), a "top recruit" or even an instructor etc?
fishyc150 the one carrying the flag in the front of the platoon is the guide or squad leader. They more than likely scored the highest on the PT test and stuff like that. Signing for the marines in July lol. Hoping to be one
Kaden D Good luck to you then :-) I'm ex British army, served for 25 years (now a reservist). We don't have anything like platoon standards etc. We have (in infantry regiments) Queens colours which are two flags, one a union jack and one the regimental standard (carrying battle honours etc). They are presented by the queen and only used on ceremonial occasions...
The red guidons are carried by the platoon guide, who changes throughout the cycle. At graduation, it's usually the honor graduate. The guidon is the identifier for each platoon. At graduation, they are retired as the platoons are disbanded.
that's gotta be one heck of a honor run, to be running alongside the company commander, with the families cheering everyone on.
Y'all have no clue how much I was crying when my brother's platoons family day came
Awesomeness at its finest!!!
Semper Fi 🇺🇲🇺🇲🇺🇲!!!
