The number of attempts allowed for the UPSC Civil Services Examination (CSE) varies by category: . General: 6 attempts until the age of 32 . OBC: 9 attempts until the age of 35 . SC/ST: Unlimited attempts until the age of 37 . Most of the IPS Officers are from either OBC or SC category. . I'm from General category...give us unlimited attempts..we will also clear UPSC.
General category are considered as upper caste, compare to are another castes like obc,sc,st,EWS,etc...these caste (like sc,st,EWS,etc...) are slaves to upper caste like general categories in past years, that why... general category got only 6 attempts
