This is not a 900 Turbo 16S. Its a 900S.
I would say saab 900 is the best car ever made. Looks, reliability, economy, handling and of course as a bonus for lucky ones, a turbo. Have driven these quite a bit, and enjoyed every second.
Edit: cargo space and seat comfort also top notch. Also im biased to 90s cars because of their superior feel compared to anything newer.

Probably more a 80s car
Nice motor. Thank you for the review. This is actually a 900 S and not a 900 Turbo 16 S. The 900 S is a low pressure turbo (LPT) without intercooler, APC and solenoid valves. Power: 145 bhp. Torque: 202 Nm. Boost pressure is around 0.45 bar which corresponds to the reading on your later fitted auxiliary boost gauge on the left side. The 900 S didn't have a boost gauge from factory either. On the right side, that's an oil temperature gauge. Owned one of these myself until very recently. Great motors all of them, no matter if 8 or 16 valve, injected, low or high pressure turbo.
I just watched your other video and it seems that you have an intercooler and also the APC. I think this car was modified to be a full pressure turbo which is quite common among enthusiasts. However, the boost pressure should then be higher, 0.75-0.80 bar maybe. It's weird. Great car nonetheless. Like the colour too. Also, looking at the rpms you're doing on the motorway, I'd say that the primary drive has also been upgraded from Type 6 to 7 at least or maybe even 8. The drivetrain must be in good condition if you can push it that easily over 200 km/h with nearly 500k kms on the clock.
Please. No turbo in the sense of the word.

900S had no turbo from the factory, only 900 Turbo models did. Someone added a turbo to this one, hence the aftermarket boost gauge.
@@stevenp.sparks2953 This is definitely true if we're considering the North American market. However, in Europe the 900S was a low perssure turbo as described above. I owned one until very recently. It not only had turbo, but the SPG(North America)/Aero(Europe) bodykit from factory as well.
My dad had a Saab 900 S 1992 in the exact same colour with dark grey velour and five doors. I learn how to drive in it and I loved it! Thank you for the video!
Brought my saab 900i convertible as a graduation present to myself from uni... remember when telling my father i brought a car without him and his reply was better not be one of those bloody saabs! 🤣 still have it today done 435,000kms turn the key and it always starts... dont use it as a daily anymore but will never part with it though... still looks so good at the beach with the roof down and there isnt 50 other people sitting in the same car in traffic! 😀 have to say it is the most cheapest and reliable car i have ever owned... do the oil services myself and changed the breaks twice in its life and one canvas roof which was easy as to do... ive owned the car so long but i dont think i have even spent 7grand on up keep over its years of service.. brilliantly built cars that were well ahead of their time.. remember they were deaigned in the late 1960s only geting 2 minor cosmetic upgrades until production ending in 1993. 👍👍

I love my 1991 900 SPG (Special Performance Group in the US) - same as a full-pressure turbo 16 valve Aero in Europe.
SAAB were and always will be cool. Fast, reliable, great to drive. Cheap as chips now. Shame they're no longer around 😔

Nice car! My first car was a used Saab 900S. It was a great car and it had the most comfortable seats of any car I've owned. I miss it.
You can lower the driver seat if you think's it was to high and never never ever pedal to metal in the first gear from traffic lights....

THE SAAB 900 S TURBO IS A TIMELESS AND CLASSICALLY ELEGANT DESIGN .
Saab 900's goes nicely and I only driven '83 non turbo carburettor.
I had a 1987 900 SPG and let me tell you ... it was a chick magnet ... now I'm 64 and sure wish I had that car today :(

i've owned 4 Saab 900s, the first thing i noticed on yours, no electric sun roof? I always thought they were standard, especially on the later year models.
dont ever be tempted with a convertible, the road noise is awful. It will make you realise how quiet the hard top version is.
i've been in noisier modern cars than Saab 900s. If you look down the body, you will see Saabs are torpedo/boat shaped. That is the aircraft engineering design for the car to cut through the air.
the front windshield is also wrapped around to make the air flow around the car the windshield is also very sloped to make the air flow up and over the car.
all this design was to make the car resistant to wind noise. All lost on the convertibles

From Sweden and owned 2 Saab Turbo and its rather funny that people these days think they are cool when they didnt buy enough of them back in the days !?.
Lot's of lawyers and doctors driving Saab's here in Holland in the days, they were pretty expensive. I'm sure lots of people wanted to drive a Saab, but not sure everyone could afford one.. ;)

Sorry I'm not a Saab expert, just like to drive fast on the Autobahn and got the chance to drive this car. :)
Is this car a factory full pressure turbo or did it have it added after the fact? I am wondering because AFAIK a factory turbo would have the boost gauge in the main instrument cluster and not on the three extra dials (which I also expected to be located down where the stereo is and the dials being down there).
Regular people drove Saabs...im one of them and i know of more regular people that drove Saab
Normally you shouldn’t be able to change gears as you did during the walkthrough without having the ignition on.

The owner told me to put the Saab 900 in reverse to start the ignition, otherwise there was a chance that the Saab would not start. This was also new to me...
FYI GMC PUT SAAB UNDER , OTHERWISE GOOD CONTENT, ALSO SAAB BUILT THE BEST FWD TURBO CARS EVER !!!

The interior is a lot more robust than later Saab models. I have a 04 9-3 and honestly, the interior is cheap and almost falling apart.
