    i checked out a book on origami from the library and in the gallery section it talked about the nail clippers you made of metal after folding a paper one. And today i folded the blinking eyes model you made, i even folded a small nose on it for a little more character.

    OMG, this is so cool. I am legally blind, but I love to do arts and crafts. I always wanted to use this kind of foil for Christmas ornaments and wreaths. Now Iknow where to find it. Even though I can't see whatSo going on in the videos, I still enjoy them. He makes the coolest stuff!!!

      Thanks for you comment. I imagine origami is difficult to learn with impaired vision but at least it's very tactile. I enjoy trying to fold models with my eyes closed. Perhaps you could try models from my Easy playlist.... because the Nail Clippers are a bear to fold even with 20/20 vision.

    • @Mwindchime
      @Mwindchime 7 років тому

      JeremyShaferOrigami I can see colors, but I cannot see faces, or pictures. I wish your videos were a little more descriptive, although I know that you probably didn't ever think a blind person would be watching (listening) to your videos. Maybe I can find a braille book on the subject. Mostly, I just use my imagination. When I was a little girl, I used to fold pieces of paper or foil like fans, so I could do it with some practice and teaching.

    Hi Jeremy! I've been folding your nail clippers from Origami to Astonish and Amuse. LOVE your descriptions in the diagrams. (i.e., “...joyfully unfold to step 9” and “...distorted street map of your favorite city”). Truly a joy to read and fold. Your diagrams are excellent and easy to follow. Haven’t folded this model in a bunch of years, but it’s a classic! Wonderful to have this video to watch, too. (After I finish 10", gonna try 6"!) Xo, M

      +Danny Kong Well, I feel the the Swiss Army Knife was a rather well-done tutorial, even though it is divided into three parts. The old Nail Clipper tutorial was just showing me folding it, but without any explanation. So it was really in need of a re-make. Were you unable to make the Swiss Army Knife from the tutorial?

    • @jeremyshaferorigami
      @jeremyshaferorigami  8 років тому

      +OrigamiMKR Good question. The creases end up compressed anyway in the final shaping so I didn't worry too much about making them sharp. Also the sharper you make them the more you risk tearing the paper (I think).

      Any size does not mean any shape. It has to be a square. And any size will work if you have the proportional level skill to make it work. So if if you wanted to make an infinitely small or infinitely large nail clipper, you would have to have an infinite level of skill. 😉

    • @jeremyshaferorigami
      @jeremyshaferorigami  8 років тому

      +OrigamiMKR I guess so, if you carefully fold it underneath the top layer, but if you fold through all layers, then you would end up with a couple of extra creases on the top of the nail clipper and a couple of extra creases on the nail file too. I think it's a little easier folding petal fold directly and it's good practice too!
