Yes, the factory kits are never any good and I've had lots of edrums over the years and you always have to build user kits. Settings for that kit for the Taylor Swift cover, I'll send in an hour or so. Busy right now.

      Snare 100, vol 22, pit - 02, Rev 000.
      Snare rim 118, vol 030,rev 008.
      Tom 1 164, vol 16.
      Tom 2 165, " "
      Tom 3 166, vol 23.
      Crash 268, vol 019, pit - 05, Rev 002.
      Ride 253, vol 032, Rev 001.
      Bass drum 006, vol 17, pan 000.
Hihat 277, open vol 032, closed vol 027, foot pedal vol 004.
Then on the kit button (left hand side) kit vol 029, Rev on, EQH 004.
The settings that I haven't listed like Rev, pan etc is because I've left them Std.
The high hat has 2.open sounds, on this kit I just use 277 for both.
Depending on your headphones or PA/amplifier, you might need to take the bass down - 3 or 4, but for recording I've left it at 000.
When I play my Roland or Alesis kits through an amp and speakers, I need to take the bass down a bit. When you take the bass down, you can also take the treble (EQH) down.
To expand the kit, I bought an original old nitro kit (rubber pads) for about $40, it was a wreck that's why I got it at that price, I sold the module and the pads and kept the cymbals and the rack. I use the cymbals on my Max and my Roland as you can see.
It's waaaaay cheaper doing it that way than buying new stuff. Just make sure the pads and the module work.

Great cover! I really want to get into drumming and I've been thinking about getting this kit for some time now. Do you recommend it or are there some other kits I should look at? (Been looking at the roland 07dmk aswell, and I've read really good things about it.) I've heard the biggest issue with this kit is that the rack is wobbly but I don't see that in your setup. I also really like that they include drumeo and melodics, those will be useful for me since I'm a beginner. I've been using a practice pad for a couple of weeks just learning rudiments and practicing wrist/finger techniques but I would like to move onto an actual kit soon.

      Thanks very much!
To me, this is the best entry level kit in the world right now - BUT that is to ME. You might not think so, it's all a very personal thing. I am pedantic about my drums, so when I set them up I used a spirit level on the crosspiece. Also I found the rubber boots on the vertical posts hadn't been put on properly - all these things other people probably didn't do, and that problaby contributed to a wobbly rack with some people. Then I tightened the Allen screws, and re- tightened again after a few days, and again after a few weeks - just a little bit ea time as the plastic tends to give over time. After having tightened a bit quite a few times, I'm confident that it is now as tight as it needs to be.
With edrums, you need to have a good ear and know what sounds good as very few modules have lots of decent factory kits, so you have to create user kits. Ive built about 12 already. Also, I've been using edrums since 2006 so I have learnt a lot. The Roland will deff be a more solid kit - I have a TD11KV and it's built like a tank, but now I hardly ever play it coz my Max just sounds 10 x better. Also I bought this because it's so light and I can take it to gigs and pracs MUCH easier than my Roland which weighs about twice as much. The TD - O7 is a very good kit, but it costs a LOT more than this, but Roland are number one in the world coz they make good stuff - but they're out of my price range. Another thing about most Roland modules is they have a lot of acoustic sounding kits on their modules which I don't like - lots of ringing toms - I prefer a prefer a dryer sound and then you can add your own reverb.
Lots for you to think about! 😊
Go to a music store and try them both out using the same headphones, also, check out the build quality, inspect the entire kit. Most sales people are pro Roland so watch out for bias talk - but Roland ARE very good, just the reasons I listed are paramount to me why I bought the Max. Also check out the Simons Titan 50. Good luck!

@@IansDrumsandBass Thank you so much for the advice. Yeah the nitro max is definitely more in my price range, I was thinking wether it would be worth it to save up for a better kit like a roland one early on. I will definitely go to the music store to try them out and I’ll see what I decide from there. I am looking for a compact, easy to store kit however I feel like the roland build quality can’t really be beaten. I’ll also check out the Titan 50 as I’ve heard pretty good things about it aswell. If I go for the nitro max I’ll definitely ask you for your user kit settings because they sound really good. I’ll probably also get the expansion pack just to get an extra cymbal. Will let you know how it goes! 😄

@@gamingtv2841 I'll gladly share my settings, just take your time, don't rush into anything. Like I said the TD - 07 is a great kit! 👍🏻I must listen to it on utube again, I nearly bought one once that's how I know it's a great kit. Just be careful the cheaper model doesn't come with a seperate bass drum tower, it has a trigger attached to the vertical post which sucks because you can't put it where you want to. Alesis isn't for everyone, but after I saw what the Max can do I bought one. There aren't a whole lot of vdos on it as they've only been out a few months, but there was one vdo a guy did where he played all the kits and when I heard that, I knew I could make it sound good. Check them all out well! Cheers. Edit: The Max module is dual zone, the pads aren't (except the snare) - I have a feeling Alesis are going to re - release this kit in 2024 with dual zone pads.

@@IansDrumsandBassI went with the nitro max after all. Having a lot of fun with it. I’m left handed aswell but I have it set up right handed and currently playing open handed. Really good kit overall. The only concern I have is that the bass pedal sometimes triggers double kicks. It feels really loose. Not sure If that’s a thing I’ll just have to get used to or if there is a fix. I have the black side facing the pad since apparently the felt side can damage it. Not sure if that’s true since I think the pad is rubber and not mesh but I guess better be safe than sorry.

@@gamingtv2841 Yes, apparently it is better to use the black side of the beater, probably due to the felt being rough. Also get a pad protector sticker from your music shop, it will help the rubber to last 10 x longer.
The bass drum pad should not be double triggering, this seems to be an issue with edrums sometimes. I would get that replaced while it's under guarantee. I bought an old nitro, rubber pad kit which was trashed for peanuts so now I have 3 crashes, I'm also going to buy the extra floor tom. There's a couple of really nice toms and snares on this module, something my Roland doesn't have.
