10:27 spot on analsysis here. In the first phase of the fight against Bayle, the dragon is grounded by his injuries -- hence the "down below" instruments, only to regrow his wings and start flying around in his second phase -- when the "up high" instruments start playing. It's interesting to see how even the choice of instrumentation in these tracks contributes to the experience!
There is a video someone made where they add in the dialogue from an NPC that kind of starts you on the path of fighting Bayle and all I can say is, it is the greatest vocal performance I have heard in any game recently!
Yeah I think you're probably right, I don't think there's any game designers on earth that are as good at matching the design of a character, not just how they look or where they're found in the world but what fighting them actually FEELS like and telling you ABOUT them, their history and motivations and mentality, than Fromsoft. They have become so singularly adept at speaking a specific kind of myth-making musical language, which, combined with their art, story, and lore departments being equally world-class at imagining, designing, and placing into an interesting and unique world entirely brand new archetypes of characters, allows their music department to be able to perfectly describe those characters with song. It all sounds so grandiose when you lay it out that way but From tell stories of truly historical, mythological proportions and that sort of aspiration wouldn't work nearly as well as it does, wouldn't feel so natural, if every single part of the experience wasn't wholly devoted and completely sincere about meeting that grand ambition.
Hopefully the Tree can get some love. He really needs it. 😢 This track is nice but it feels like it's missing something. 6:42 - 7:05 is absolutely amazing. I do love thst this and Placidusax have a parallel across their tracks where it soars away and then comes crashing back down violently.
Pro vocalist listens to a soundtrack of a boss whom you fight with someone known for their vocal work. Why was igon’s monologue not included in this reaction??

This one is tied with midra as my favorite boss themes in ALL of Elden Ring, if not Souls games in general. It just gets your blood pumping.
