I mean tbf the movie is incredibly visually demanding. Especially if your only exposure to animated movies is Pixar- which always go for a simple, grounded animation style- Spider-Verse can be a huge leap in visual complexity
I do wonder how Matt will feel at the passing of Chadwick Boseman who played Black Panther as he's a big fan of the character and Boseman was such a good performer so it is a shame we won't see him portray that role any longer, but his contribution to the MCU was so wonderful and so very strong, rest in peace
You guys need to watch the Pirates of the Caribbean films. PoC 4 and 5 lost its way a bit but the first 3 are FANFUCKINGTASTIC! Edit: just finished the video, So, Matt is not a huge fan of animated movies. Maybe he could react to some anime movies. I recommend A Silent Voice as the first anime movie, its a grounded, mature story that I think Matt will absolutely love. I cry at least 10 times every time I watch that movie
BRUH, silent voice was my first introduction to anime movies (Other than the super cliche ones like spirited away) and I loved it. Im gonna explode if matt doesnt watch it. Also Weathering with you and Your Name were really good but take a bit of getting used to.
@@Grasfh yeah, totally agree. Didn't recommend Your name and weathering with you as we all know that he prefers movies with strong messages for society and those two are pure romance comedy. I still love them tho
Eh, I compare the first TASM to Mega Man X3- it had some really solid ideas, ideas which would have made it phenomenal, but there was a fundamentally-misguided element to it. I’ll respect it for what it wanted to be, but I won’t deny that in its current state it could never truly become what it wanted to. Then the second movie just kind of went off the deep end

I think Matt was able to appreciate this much more as a superhero film only because he went through the MCU first, so I wonder if his score would be higher if he also had more of an introduction to animated movies beforehand. Goes to show that the timing in which we see movies in our lives and our experiences up to that point can change our perspective so much
Should be Under the Red Hood honestly, arguably the best Batman film period. When Jason goes “this is the greatest day of my life” you die a little inside...
“Let it go, let it go” then something about not holding me back anymore. “Let it go, let it go” then something about hearing her cry. That’s all I know.
Well, I know the chorus of course. But I certainly don't know the whole lyrics. And I'm not a liar. Just very far from the demographic when it showed, and without any family with young peeps close by. I did see the movie once, when it was on Netflix, just to see what the fuss whas about. I mean, I'm almost 65, what do you want from me? I know the lyrics to Pink Floyd's "Time" (from the album "The Dark Side of The Moon") better. Much better. Way more than 3 words repeated in various tones and lengths a few times. Hugs from Sweden ;-)

You guys nailed it! Everyone was on point for this one! It's an amazing movie that chokes me up every time! Very happy that it hit Matt's sweet spot! Holden: "The Spider-Man the world needs now." Powerful statement. Jeremy: "Best realization of being a hero." Yes, sir! "Cognitive dissonance!" Break out the big words! I love it. Pastor: "It reminds me of home. This is what happened to me." I'm a big city boy, too, Ulysses. Matt: "It made me cry twice!" "Bye-Gone Gym Moment-Approved!" The hair on the back of the neck stands up and the lump in the throat swells when scruffy Pete realizes he's been stalling and Miles is gonna be okay. Jenna: Normally ahead of the curve, today she played catch-up but at least she liked the Spider-Gang! Lol. Fantastic Miles Morales cinematic debut! Comic accurate! Introduces the Marvel multiverse to audiences! Nic Cage OWNED Spider-Noir!
So glad they finally watched this movie. My favorite animated movie ever. I love the style I love the music. This was just a great movie for me. Glad to hear their thoughts too.
The Stan lee cameo had me in tears the first time I seen this and also idk why but the simplistic line when miles tells peter “you gotta go home man” is just pure and meaningful...
There is a reason why the movie animation is like this. You have 5 different universes colliding with one. That is why it glitches like that. The movie is showing the effects so many universe colluding on the main one is happening. Maybe they over did it but I did not mind it and it made sense to me why they did it like that.
I think one of the more subtle moments I love is when miles shows up in his suit at the collider and doc oc says “Spider-man?” Is great, the first time he’s acknowledged as Spider-Man is by his enemy.
I would be curious to see Matt's reaction to 'A Silent Voice'. While it is an anime film, it is very character driven and explores some pretty interesting topics (e.g., bullying, social anxiety, suicide). Knowing Matt's background, it would be very interesting to see his thoughts on a movie like that. While many people see animation as being things for kids, it really isn't. Rather, it is simply another medium through which stories can be told.
Miles finally becoming Spider-Man is possibly my favorite moment of any movie ever. That leap of faith gets me every. single. time. The visual of the whole scene, with that awesome song/orchestra arrangement = perfection. Best moment from any animation ever: that inverse shot of him rising as he’s falling towards the city. Genius! And I loved, immediately after that, the three progressive comic frame inserts. Amazing visual representation of confidence. Everything about this scene is so perfect to me. The glass shattering from fear as he pushes away from the building; the detail of how he moves as he’s running down the street between cars; the squeak of his sneakers against the windows of the office building; the juxtaposition of exhilaration going up beside the skyscraper to his falling fearfully much earlier in the movie. And, at the end, he finally gets his comic book.
First of all, RIP to the King, Chadwick Boseman. But as he told us: "In my culture, death is not the end. It's more of a stepping off point. You reach out with both hands and Bast and Sekhmet. They lead you into a green veld where... you can run forever." Wakanda Forever. Secondly, Spider-Verse. We're all gonna enjoy this reaction. Thank you for uploading Holden!

This was by far my favorite movie of 2018. I went into the theater with relatively high expectations, and it exceeded every single one of them. Also, it just occurred to me for the first time when you guys were talking about "Anyone can wear the mask" that the second Raimi Spider-Man has a similar message from Aunt May when she says, "I believe that there's a hero in all of us." Which is another scene that always makes the room get a little dusty.
I'd love to see more animated movies, I love animation and I think it could be really interesting to see Matt, hopefully, gaining a new appreciation for them.

Oh wow I was not expecting this. 3 videos in one week? That’s crazy and definitely a welcome surprise!
Lol, dude was acting like watching spider verse visually was the equivalent of pouring salt in your eyes 😂
Ong
I mean tbf the movie is incredibly visually demanding. Especially if your only exposure to animated movies is Pixar- which always go for a simple, grounded animation style- Spider-Verse can be a huge leap in visual complexity
Sensory overload is a very real neurological thing. He can't really control his reactions....
RIP Chadwick❤
Yessss
BRUH, silent voice was my first introduction to anime movies (Other than the super cliche ones like spirited away) and I loved it. Im gonna explode if matt doesnt watch it. Also Weathering with you and Your Name were really good but take a bit of getting used to.
@@Grasfh yeah, totally agree. Didn't recommend Your name and weathering with you as we all know that he prefers movies with strong messages for society and those two are pure romance comedy. I still love them tho
Hell Yeah pirates
I don’t know if you’ve ever thought of it but I think Matt would actually like TASM 1&2. Really underrated films.
I agree with one but 2 is actually bad
hugh cafritz yeah i agree
1 is decent, but I don't think it really captures Peter. 2 is a mess.
Sugesting the „Avatar the Last Airbender“ series until the reaction to it gets posted:
Week 3
They need to do this
I wanna see Matt react to the greatness that is Iroh.
Bye gone gym moments would be replaced by „uncle iroh moments“
They’ve talked about how doing a tv show is a huge commitment and something with three seasons would take forever. Right now, especially since people love the content, they are trying to produce them as quickly as possible. Series as long as avatar is slightly unrealistic however much people love it
Sully I know, it takes a lot of commitment, but If a show deserves a commitment like this it is ATLA. I know that a lot of people recommended Star Wars the clone wars, but even tho I like Star Wars and also liked the clone wars, this would not be the way to go, because Matt would not like it... but ATLA really would have a chance...
ATLA made me a better person
“There’s another spider man in 10 years, and he’s in space or something”
Infinity war: 😐
RIP our tru king: Chadwick Boseman
I woke up this morning to my wife, on her side of the bed.... Crying... I said "Babe, what's wrong?" She told me the news and I started crying with her😩😰
*true
This is the best written spider-man movie by far... and rip Chadwick! Wakanda forever!
Avatar (the show not the movie) would be cool to react to
Would love that!!!
I think Matt was able to appreciate this much more as a superhero film only because he went through the MCU first, so I wonder if his score would be higher if he also had more of an introduction to animated movies beforehand. Goes to show that the timing in which we see movies in our lives and our experiences up to that point can change our perspective so much
I feel like Matt is gonna love General Iroh in Last Airbender.
You guys should do “Iron Giant”!
Show Him Batman: Year One and The Dark Knight Returns animated movies
great choices
Should be Under the Red Hood honestly, arguably the best Batman film period. When Jason goes “this is the greatest day of my life” you die a little inside...
“Let it go, let it go” then something about not holding me back anymore. “Let it go, let it go” then something about hearing her cry. That’s all I know.
Anyone who says they don’t know the lyrics to let it go is a LIAR! 😂
I was about to comment I don’t but then I realized I can sing the whole thing in my head so... WHY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
@@connormacmillan2803 I don't. I know it has the lyrics let it go and thats it.
Hummingbirder1 I was joking
@@gingercat5996 I kinda guessed, but maybe there was a kernel of truth in there somewhere? Anyway, I tried with my lame wink wink at the end to convey that my answer was tounge in cheek. But maybe with a kernel of truth in it, since there certainly were/is a lot of fuss around that song and I can be a little/much contrarian when it comes to things like that.
And on a totally different topic: I REALLY like your icon/avatar/what's it's name! Do you have a ginger cat close by? If so, pet it from me, pleeazze
Holden. Would love for yall to take Matt to see across the spider verse if u haven't seen it!
Hey!
Thanks for the awesome and insightful comment. Always good to hear from ya.
I hope I used it right! 😜
“I had to look away from the screen” .....
So glad they finally watched this movie. My favorite animated movie ever. I love the style I love the music. This was just a great movie for me. Glad to hear their thoughts too.
This is just my favorite movie in general
The Stan lee cameo had me in tears the first time I seen this and also idk why but the simplistic line when miles tells peter “you gotta go home man” is just pure and meaningful...
Yes yes yes yes yes I’ve been asking for this I love this movie, love the content Holden.
Also you guys should maybe watch 42 in tribute to Chadwick
Watch Christopher Nolan films. I think Matt would really like them
Pretty certain he’s seen a few of them. Isn’t inception one of his favourites?
There is a reason why the movie animation is like this. You have 5 different universes colliding with one. That is why it glitches like that. The movie is showing the effects so many universe colluding on the main one is happening. Maybe they over did it but I did not mind it and it made sense to me why they did it like that.
*colliding (different meaning)
*overdid
*it, but
If this is what Matt thinks of animation, he needs to watch something like the lion king, a silent voice, and full metal alchemist brotherhood.
Some others that i think he would like would be. Avatar the last airbender, spirited away, princess mononoke, coco, and your name
This is my favorite Spider-Man film. In fact, there is a deep divide between this film and my second favorite film, Spider-Man 2.
Okay, let's do this one last time...
You guys are such a wholesome group of people, I’m thankful to be part of your cinematic adventures.
I love and appreciate what this group of friends brings to the reviews. Different experiences but lots of knowledge from different viewpoints. It’s the kind of conversations I used to enjoy having with my friends. 👍
I'm commenting before watching the vid but ima say he liked it and gave it an 8/10 or better.
when i was waking up i forgot what day it was and then i opened up yt and ur vid was the first thing i saw and i gasped. clicked right away. love u guys
I would LOOOOOVE watching you guys react to “THE LAST OF US”
19:36 I could feel the energy in the room and got chills. Had to run it back a few times. Also get you a friend like Matt, who highlights the dope shit you say
RIP Chadwick Boseman, He was such an amazing person!
*Boseman. He (to fix your comma splice run-on)
This was by far my favorite movie of 2018.
I recommend you to watch Studio Ghibli's movies, they are fenomenal
*phenomenal
I'd love to see more animated movies, I love animation and I think it could be really interesting to see Matt, hopefully, gaining a new appreciation for them.
...Matt needs to watch Avatar The Last Airbender (the show) it's amazing
Holden comes out with straight bangers every time 👌🏻
I think Matt would love the dark knight returns part 1 and 2
Jeremy at 20:45 Made me teary eyed. Much love to jeremy!
That effect is not 3D.
It's a recreation of the printing errors
Yes. You guys finally did my favourite movie EVER! I hope Matt like it (haven't finished yet)
Earliest I’ve ever been I think, good afternoon! (If it is afternoon for you atleast, I’m from England.)
Me too
hello my brother
*literally sips tea*
I’m glad you’re uploading these a lot more.
Oh finally... I love this movie.. literally one of the best soundtracks and ofc one of the best spider-man stories
Could you please watch Scott Pilgrim vs The World
Yaaaay! Im glad you guys watched this 🥺😍 this is great!
I'd love to see him watch an anime movie such as spirited away or your name
i feel like matt is very open and willing to try new things. he may not like something or understand it but he will give it a shot and i respect that. If i could show him something (for example an anime) and he doesnt like it after giving it a fair chance i respect that cause he at least gave it a chance. I feel like thats why this series has done so well
Weve set the bar for animation waaayyyy to high. Hes going to hate avatars animation
*We've
*too
*He's
*Avatar's
*animation.
@@alvallac2171 Damn, grammar police hittin different tho.
The subtle pause to zoomed in shot of Holden acknowledging he knows the lyrics to “Let it go” is perfect.
