  • How To Make A Haori (Version 1) || (Cosplay) Tutorial
    Hello everyone! I am back with another video. This time I am going to show you how you can make your own haori. The haori is a traditional Japanese hip- or thigh-length kimono style jacket. Worn over a kosode. I always wanted to try to make one of my own. I will make two versions of the haori. I will show you the easier version first, cuz I still need to figure out on how I am going to make that one. I will use these tutorials to make some progress with the Kimetsu No Yaiba cosplay tutorials. So stay tuned for that!
    Also I wanted to say a BIG thank you for your love and support on the kimetsu no yaiba demon slayer corps uniform cosplay tutorial! It really means a lot to me!

    I love the final output and its really simple to follow. At first I was baffled how this lineup of the cloth works but looking at it for like the nth time, I finally got it. Making a longer version of this for cosplay. Thank you so much!

    Interesting methods. I have made five so far and found this to be a different way of approaching the same result. The good thing about clothing design is that everyone is entitled to their own opinions of how to make clothing.
    Overall very interesting to watch and you had a cosplay ready garment in the end. Thumbs up

      would you say this is the best method for a beginner?

    • @aliciaoverturf
      @aliciaoverturf 3 роки тому +2

      @@papelrex Yes. The first one was a mess of stitch lines and wonky seams but I did end up with a working prototype complete with a pattern. I suggest getting some poster board from a dollar store once all the edges are sorted out for a second one made of "final fabric" as we called it in school. Trust me, even as a mess I still use the first one and have embraced every "flaw". Its now covered in embroidery from cast offs and end of spool bits.

    Friendly note to the future people watching this;
    1) think of the sleeve part as 2 tubes kissing. (It’ll make sense once you see it)
    2) be careful with stretchy fabric like fleece (I used fleece as my liner, it ended up bunching a little bit)

    • @Yairzhino
      @Yairzhino  3 роки тому

      It depends on your measurements. But if you already have the shell for the haori (the part on the outside) you can use that as a base for the lining. The last piece will be the strap in front of the haori.

      You can also cut it out in paper first and check if the measurements are correct. If the measurements are correct you can use these pieces as a template for the haori. You can also make the haori a little bit bigger. Cut the excess fabric later if needed.
